When I went to Purdue, «the bridge» was a great place for an evening stroll with a lovely view of the river and quaint little downtown Lafayette. It was always fun to stand on the bridge over the train tracks as the trains rushed by just feet underneath you.
The cities of Lafayette and West Lafayette also host a lot of festivals on the bridge throughout the year.
The last time I visited they were working on what looked like pretty extensive upgrades/​renovations to the bridge, so it was closed. Looking forward to enjoying it again soon!

Gathering place for walks over the Wabash River, festivals and local concerts — it also doubles as the Amtrak depot and is within walking distance to the new bus depot. Some shaded seating.
