I thought this place was top notch! Never been to Lafeyette and wasn’t sure what to expect. I loaded up and some caffeine… had a Kenyan pour over and a cortado. Both were great, the staff is friendly and they know what they are talking about. Great job Lab folks!

A little precious but that’s the neighborhood(River Ranch). I had an Assam Tea and a pastry for 7 bucks. That and the seating is made for undernourished, overcaffeinated high-school girls.

Had the best drip coffee of my life here in Lafayette! I have never even heard about this city till I came here for work, no offense. I spend a lot time in the west coast for work and always make time to find a good local coffee shop. This place obviously doesn’t have the vibes like the shops like Sightglass in SF, but they have good selection of beverages. I tried the New Orleans iced coffee, green tea, and also their special drip coffee. New Orleans iced coffee was better than blue bottle’s but I was extremely impressed by their drip coffee(half organic beans from sd and half Guatemala) I believe. I lived in Sd for several years and haven’t even tried that organic beans till now. Amazing combination, they might not roast their own beans but they sure know how to combine and brew good coffee.

Definitely the coffee drinker’s coffee shop. Located in a new shopping center/living combo village, this place had a great feel. There was plenty of indoor seating and there was plenty of patio space if you have a pet with you. They are dog friendly and even had water bowls. Parking is on the street or in the large parking lot across the street. Definitely not a shortage there. The coffee was great. The latte mugs were huge and the iced coffee was very good. They can pretty much make anything you ask for and they also had answers to any questions you may have. Don’t feel intimidated by their lack of menu or signage as you can just ask. I would recommend the coffee for those who enjoy the drink and the experience of coffee shops. If you aren’t a coffee fan, this place probably isn’t for you.

Customer service is great! I am not a coffee fan, but I get tea when I go. My husband loves the coffee and everytime my family comes and visit, they want to go before they leave.

I was already intrigued by the name, but after my first taste, I fell in love. Coming from coffee towns like San Francisco and Portland, I sure love a good coffee. But I wasn’t prepared for this experience! Pull up your lab chair, the professor is going to tell you about brewing the best cup of coffee you’ll ever have. I usually have to drink cream in my coffee, but I learned at the Lab why it wasn’t a necessity with a well-brewed brew. I had a delicious pour over, very silky and smooth. I didn’t even need the cream! I even tried the Nutella croissant, which was to die for! This place is a local gem. I wish they’d come out to Walnut Creek.

Best overall coffee house in town. Afogato is a must, and patio seating is a plus. Surrounding neighborhood adds to experience. Give the drinks and food 4 star.

Décor. It’s got a very hipster feel all rustic wood and pvc piping. Drink. A great smooth latte. The menu isn’t very obvious but just ask and they’ll point you in the right direction. Service. Friendly staff and helpful.

Very hipster but cool spot to hang out. The staff is friendly. When you walk in, go to the right to see the menu. The first time we came in, we had no idea where to order. Excellent pour-over. Outdoor patio.

I was so looking forward to this place as friends and family talked it up so much! But I have to admit, I was a little underwhelmed. The service was just ok. I found the barista to be a little rude, honestly. The vanilla latte I ordered didn’t wow me. I’ve had better at Starbucks(ouch!). I’d definitely we willing to try it again. Judging from the other reviews, maybe it was just an off night? Maybe I’m spoiled to the incredible coffee spots we have in Dallas, but it was just«ok».

Great coffee. ! Great service! Friendly ! Knowledgable! And unique. A staple for me on every break day before my flight out ! Coffees brewed to the correct temperature and you can tell. Because if the light acid to no acid bitterness in the HOT cup of individual pour over made especially for you! Exceptional !

We found this place on Unilocal and planned to stop on our road trip from Houston, TX to Jacksonville, Fl. Unfortunately we were running late and missed it on the way there, so we stopped on the way back. The ambiance and industrial chic décor was nice! I was disappointed because it was only midday and they ran out of iced coffee. I had a latte instead, but wish I could have tried the cold brew. I’ll have to try it next time I’m in Lafayette… not sure when that will be! Road trips are all about the food, which means we also got ice cream. We chose the Black & Yellow and it was great, you could tell it was homemade — but I wish they have a few more flavor offerings as I believe there were only 6.

Lemme first begin by saying this is not your typical«drive-by» coffee joint! If you are a frequenter of Pete’s Coffee, Starbucks or Community Coffee you will be taken aback upon your first visit. I have been a customer of The Lab since the beginning so I will not pretend to be some random customer who had a once in a lifetime experience! The words that comes to mind when I think of my experience at The Lab are: interaction, adventure, exploring, out of the box, fun, mind blowing and very unique. Thomas Peters opened The Lab w/words like this in mind. When you enter this establishment you’re meant to interact w/the baristas, ask questions, taste things and try new experiences, new coffees! Yes, there is more than coffee at The Lab! Coffee: The Lab is serving coffee from roasters all around the nation. What does this mean? The owner hand selects which roasters he wants to use, will gladly let you try it before you buy it and if it is not up to par with the excellence he’s pursuing will find a roaster that will only put out the best beans! My wife, a frequenter of «drive by» coffee houses has said to me that the cappuccino she gets at The Lab is the best one she has ever had, no sugar added! Many people cannot get past the European-ness of The Lab. It is a respite away from how busy the world is. The coffee is not over roasted, burnt or stale. Fresh and eye-opening are the best ways to describe one of the pour overs you will order when you visit. Pastries & gelato: Thomas, the owner loves to play and experiment(hence the name of the establishment). Who would think to make gelato out of Lucky Charms? Yes, Thomas would. Once again, if you like your normal doughnuts, pastries or kolaches by all means go get them. If you want a croissant stuffed with pork belly w/a hint of cane syrup, topped with chunks of bacon… this is your place! The pastries and gelato are approached the same way the coffee is… Love, care and patience are 3 main ingredients in everything! Please try the bacon bomb or my daughters favorite the Nutella bomb. My favorite is the stuffed boudin! Lest we not forget the teas! The Lab has an extensive menu of soothing, fruity, smokey and flavorful teas. Many of the baristas will gladly tell you which is their favorite and guide you to your decision… The descriptions of each tea on the menu are also very helpful and spot on! To conclude, i travel the East Coast all the way to West Texas and there are very few places like this. There is a revolution going on in many places around this great country and people are willing to get outside the box and try new things. i’ve fallen in love with The Lab and I’m sure I’ve helped Thomas pay a couple of mortgage payments. I love, however, supporting local establishments and getting outside the box w/drink and food. This means… Go check it out! Get out of your box, your comfortable normal little box and hopefully you’ll fall in love w/The Lab like I have! i promise you nobody will bite you and they’re ready to take your taste buds on a beautiful journey! –eatdrinklife

My first time to visit this place was yesterday… it was highly recommended by a friend that was visiting from out of town. Location: this coffee house nestled in a richly contemporary area that is surrounded by other independently-owned businesses(pilates studio, boutique bakery, townhomes, fine eats, etc.). It is a fairly large establishment with ample seating and work areas on the inside & outside. Menu: coffees, teas, ice cream, pastries I had the Cortado espresso(which was served in a large shot glass… it was amazing! I was told that it would be a strong serving of coffee and it was not as strong as I thought it would be. It went down like liquid silk! There was nothing bitter about it… pure perfection! This place gets 5-star from me because it is wonderful in all aspects: lovely location, clean, stellar customer service, delicious menu items, does not feel chain-like, unique, contemporary, delectable brews… I was thoroughly impressed by it all! All aces from me! I want to go back to Lafayette just to go back to this coffee house and spend the day there!

Heard so much about this place, so decided to give it a shot. They have really nice décor and ambiance, a little small, but isn’t all coffee spots? The people here are nice and helpful, and doesn’t mind answering questions. We had the following: — NOLA Style Iced Coffee — which was pretty decent, I like my coffee a tad bit stronger. — Nutella Croissant — this was decent, they had to microwave it, so it was probably sitting out for a while. so it probably lost it’s flakiness, nevertheless, it was decent — Swamp Pop — I was so excited to hear that they carry swamp pop, I’ve been waiting on the release of these suckers since forever, I had got the Praline Cream Soda, and it was good! I can’t wait to come back to try the other goodies they have here!
