Good sushi & atmosphere. One of the best values in south OC beach cities areas for sushi, sake and fun with friends. Close to Main beach in Laguna as well :)

Not bad but this won’t be our go to sushi spot. We’re still looking for a new place after moving to Dana Point and just haven’t been impressed yet. We’re not super picky about sushi since we are admitted fans of the non-traditional cut rolls and stuffed jalapenos(deep fried of course!) but we do try some basic traditional sushi like hamachi and fatty tuna. Came here for my son’s birthday and while the staff was nice I just wasn’t a big fan of the sushi flavors. Moving on down the road until we find our winner!

One of our fav sushi spots! The Cajun salmon roll is the best and he service is incredible! Have had tons of bday parties here and the outside patio perfectly accommodates big groups. Last night out server Lucas was the best! Super organized and didn’t forget any of our requests. Kept the sake going and perfectly plated our funfetti cake at the end of dinner!

BAD san Shi Go! The wagyu you gave me was HORRIBLE! Tasted like it had been blow torched. The sashimi you gave me was warm & tasteless. the green tea tasted like faucet water. over all I was NOT impressed. only plus is the view of the ocean. I left very hungry… blah

Came here for a birthday last week, and wasn’t blown away. In a competitive sushi market this place isn’t fair in very well.

Place is good but I got the sashimi salad and it costs 15 dollars. I asked for not tuna and more of salmon and yellowtail which it comes with. They said they would charge me 2 extra dollars. Won’t be back. Salad was very very small. It comes in a 10×4 inch plastic to go box. There were only 3 salmon and 3 yellow tail. Sucks.

I came in here and was not impressed as I was last year or whenever I was there the last time. The vibe was not there. The energy was boring and the rolls were bland with stale rice. The poke cuts were great, but the sesame sauce was different than usual. I am going to have to say I will stick with my jizzake inland.

Delicious sushi! We ordered quite a few rolls and they were all great. Only request is that they add descriptions of the rolls for visitors. It saves time so customers don’t have to ask what is included in every roll. Will be back if I’m ever in Laguna again!

Fresh sushi and delicious food. Excellent service friendly staff. We had seafood udon, carpaccio, sushi and Back flip Roll. Everyone enjoyed their meal and prices are reasonable for Japanese. Ambiance is comfortable and there is a view of the ocean. Neighborhood hangout feel.

Freshest and best sushi in Orange county! I have been going to this restaurant for years now and they have stayed consistently good. As a matter of fact, I have been eating sushi there for so long that I finally decided to try some hot Japanese entre options last time, and man, they did not let me down. I can confidently say that every item on their menu is good. So next time you don’t know what to get, just close our eyes and point! N joy

Walked in and the food, service, and atmosphere were impeccable. Sat at the bar, both my waiter and the sushi chef behind the bar were outstanding. Truly amazing service and would come back in a heartbeat. Thanks San Shi Go, you did not disappoint! (Highly recommend this place over Okura down the street any day!)

Delicious sushi! Love all their rolls, but my favorite is the yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño. I can’t get enough, perfect temp, perfectly sliced, amazing flavor! ! This place is great for eating indoors or on the patio, spectacular views of the beach. Fun atmosphere! Tip: we always make a reservation when we bring a group and they get us in quickly.

Hands down bar non. This is the best sushi in Orange County!!! The food is always fresh. Service on point. Price is reasonable for all that you get. Little small so there is a wait but well worth it!!! We need more business owners like this in Orange County. Salmon lemon roll. Back flip. Cajun tuna. The sashimi is out of this world. So many great things to choose from! I love San shi go haven’t tried Newport but LB is the bomb!

The seabass here is TODIEFOR! Based on what I tasted today — the seabass, the sushi sampler, and catapillar roll — this place is a solid five star restaurant. I’ve been looking for this kind of top quality expertly prepared seabass for a while and I finally found it here. I will definitely be back for more seabass. Sushi sampler was original, interesting, exquisite, delicious. Fantastic sushi place here.

Delicious and excellent presentation. I came in around 7:00PM and sat at the sushi bar where there was plenty of seating. All the tables in the dining room where already very busy. Within 30 minutes the bar was also filled with 5 sushi chefs working to fill orders. The service was excellent and I have to say this was one of the best sushi restaurants I have eaten in the US. They had specials such as fresh ama ebi, barracuda and scallops. Yum yum sums it up.

The food /sushi at San Shi Go is really great. However the service, wait time for a table, and taking a large group there is a nightmare. We took a group of about eight. Ordering drinks, appetizers, and full entrees you would think the service and management staff would be on top of a larger group bringing in a high revenue… Nope. We ordered drinks and appetizers when there was an empty patio around us, half of the group gets their drinks. Other tables are sat around us and begin ordering they get their appetizers, entrees, wine bottle service before we get our appetizers. It was a major disappointment. We ended up canceling our entrees because we didn’t want to wait another hour for half of them to arrive. Not a good place for groups. Do not bother!

This is more a sushi restaurant when I realize that once I ate the miso salmon it was dry even with a squeeze of lemon. The veggies were very sweet which tasted awful with all that sauce. The salad with the ginger dressing and miso soup tasted way better. I tried some of my friends sushi that was really good. When in doubt I say order sushi even if it has to be California Rolls if you’re trying a new place to eat. We sat out on the patio when we brought the dogs to dine with us too. They keep the patio area heated so you don’t get too cold sitting outside then you may get too hot sitting right under the heater. Parking may be a problem when you either park in the residential area with meter parking or else you have to park far away then still have to pay. The restaurants is near Gina’s Pizza. It’s upstairs on the 3rd level is where you will find it. If you like walking a lot then Downtown Laguna Beach may be the place for you to spend the day.

Came in with a group of 5 to get a quick bite. We ordered 4 rolls and 3 piece seared salmon nigiri and 2 miso soup. It has been my experience that the miso soup come out fairly quickly because… well, it’s miso soup. For some reason ours took about 25 min to arrive. That being said, the rolls came soon after; however, the seared salmon took almost an hour to arrive. By the time it got to our table it was cold, as if it was made right when it was ordered and then just sat there for 45 min. I was also turned off by the fact that the salmon nigiri lacked salt and lemon(as it is typically served with a citrus of some kind) The Cajun Salmon roll was tasty. The roll had some awesome flavors that gave it a great smokey/cajun-y taste and it accompanied the salmon really well. The chef made mine using real crab and non tempura shrimp, so to accommodate my gluten-free restriction. This was very thoughtful of them. The staff here were great at making sure nothing snuck into my roll that was going to make me sick. 5 stars for the attention to detail when it came to this; although my ONE roll ended up being $ 21…SAYWHAT?! Overall, the sushi rolls were decent, but nothing too different from most any other sushi place you walk into in OC. Had my Seared Salmon Nigiri been up to par, I would have probably given a 4 Star review.

We’ve been coming to San Shi Go for 20 years or so. Always considered it to be the best place in Laguna for Sushi. Tonight though it’s clear that things have changed. Not sure if there are new owners or if we caught them on a bad night, but our normal 5 star experience has deteriorated into a 3 star event. Not bad, but not great.

Every dish we ordered was fantastic. I love sitting by the sushi bar to see the chefs make all the food and chat to them too. Highly recommend the salmon carpaccio with Yuzu sauce, yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño, spicy tuna with crispy rice, all the fish is very crush, blue fin tuna came from Spain and the Ika was incredibly smooth. I’ve been to San Shi Go in Newport and it’s different — this is larger, definitely style of eating. Definitely coming back!
