No longer Mexican food. It is now the paradise grill. Decent little grill. Average food. Lots of locals. Nice staff. Luke was our server. New but took care of our needs. Free ice cream for the kids. Lots of TVs and sports. They were showing the boxing match between Paquio vs Mayweather.

Had a great time here. Tons of locals, great music and drinks. Pretty much the most vibrant place after 9pm in west maui!

I am not a drinker so I can’t comment on the bar, but the food and service was pretty good. Tacos were a smaller portion than expected but I left full and satisfied. My family enjoyed Tia Juana’s as well. Btw, Tia Juana’s Beach Cantina, not Tijuana.

I was really disappointed with this place as the place«looks» good. Nice, simple atmosphere, nice, if average, staff. First problem, which is usually a sign of things to come, was the chips and salsa. The salsa was perhaps the worst I have had: no flavor, no kick, just very bland. The chips were nothing to write home about either. My diet coke was flat. The replacement was the same. Ordered the fish fajitas. The tortilas were good and pieces of fish were OK, but all the peppers and onions were covered in oil, the rice was flavorless, the beans the same. Worst of all, one of my favorite things, guacamole, well this place managed to screw this up too. The only decent mexican place I have found on Maui is Fred’s down in Kihei, which is sad because that place is not much better than Tia Juana’s. Oh well.

Not sure why this place has so many bad reviews. My husband and I had a blast here! We spent our time in the downstairs bar and didn’t actually see the restaurant upstairs but who cares?! Downstairs there was a super friendly bartender, a bad ass jukebox, rad stuff all over the walls and stiff — STIFF drinks! What else do you need when you’re on vacation? After a few hours of drinking I did order some jalapeño poppers and they were really, really tasty. Besides that, we didn’t try any of the other food. My husband and I were having a great time until a large group came and took over the juke box so we left. Was a superb night all in all.

my favorite stop in Maui! It’s my local dive bar. My friends and I frequent this joint after a hard days work at a nearby resort. We like to chill at the bar downstairs(Donnovan’s) Staff is friendly! Most of the food is good! My favorite thing about it is that it’s usually pretty chill. We tend to head out right before the tourist night crowd roll’s on in. prices are great! very easy on the pocket book! …pass me another tecate please!

So, we were in Maui and wanted something with a bite and get our happy hour on. As soon as we got to Tia Juana’s the place was EMPTY! mind you it was clean and tidy but EMPTY. We looked at each other we just got here from the main land so you know we’re starving. We decide to stay, who knew it was going to be a L-O-N-G Stay. The waitress takes us to our table of 9 and walks away comes back 5 mins later with our menus. We immediately ordered water just incase it took her awhile and indeed it did 15 mins later our water shows up. YAY! tasting like crap by the way. so we decide we’re going to order right away and order the spiciest salsa to go with the chips. which was ur average after the waitress said it «the haberano» total disaster. they never refilled the basket of chips or salsa. so dinner arrives and its basically just unmelted globs of cheese stuffed in the chili rellenos and enchiladas. chicken fajita was maybe semi decent. no one was a happy camper!

Four of us went for dinner… Three of us couldn’t eat our meals and the one that did spent the rest of her evening in the bathroom. I wish I could at least say the staff was nice, but no… our waitress was unfriendly and poorly trained. Avoid this one…

Get your happy hour, margarita game on! Staff is friendly and helpful, super clean venue. Traveling with friends? I recommend bringing some cards for light entertainment. Plus you can signature a card and throw it up on the ceiling above the booths in the restaurant. The location is sweet, right near the golf course. It has an airy open feeling, where you can hang loose and chill. Alooha!!! Oh yeah, Victor the waiter is the nicest person. He’s patient and has the spirit of a proud Hawaiian! The drinks makes everybody real friendly… you know what, if your still reading this… stop and just go!

The ambiance is awesome, the décor is swell, the music is mellow and goes well with the mood of the restaurant. The service is good and the waitress was apologetic for not having 2 of the food items we wanted. The food was awful but my drunk wife said it was ok. So come drunk and you might enjoy your meal.

In a pinch, this place will soothe the Mexican food beast within you. In Hawaii it’s hard to find good Mexican and Italian. Carnitas were good, carne asada was good, kids tacos were terrible. queso fundido was ok, salsa barely could be called salsa… but like i said, desperate times call for desperate measures! Works in a pinch.

I was very excited to see a mexican resteraunt in the Ka’anapali area. Ever since Chico’s went out of business a long time ago I have been dying for some good mexican food. Unfortunately I am still waiting to fill that craving. This place just sucks, only a couple beers on tap and nothing but light beer in bottle or tap! The food is very mediocre. I had the shrimp and Carnitas. The shrimp were good but there was only three of them. The Carnitas was tough and rubbery. They also closed the kitchen in the middle of our dinner so I could not request more tortillas. Pretty terrible overall.

Trying to figure out what to eat, we finally found this place. The place was okay, nothing really stood out. There were people, but the place wasn’t packed. The service was okay, nothing to rave about. One thing I liked was they were willing to make anything that was non-vegetarian into vegetarian. We ordered the nachos, which they forgot to add the black beans to and I had the chicken fajitas. It was good, but I’ve had better. Their margaritas are decent enough. One of the plus side was there was a singer in the place that played some good music. If you are looking for something close the Kannapali, then this place does it. Being Tuesday, we’re going to check out Taco Tuesdays. Hopefully is going to be good.

Great food! So glad we have an authentic Mexican food in Maui! I can’t believe the low amount of stars people gave this place! Just because you felt out of place because of locals dos not mean you should rate the restaurant poorly. If u want great food for a great price with a cool simplistic theme upstairs and a cool laid back surfer themed downstairs Tia Juana’s is THE best!

More like Tia DONT juanas. Microwaved ‘/super dry tacos for me— good ahi tacos for the bf. Watered down guacamole for us to share – consistency and quality control would be nice! Service was decent– hostess was wonderful, server was aloof… And it was a slow night!

a lot of places on maui close up early, so we went to the bar here one night when we were hungry but almost everything was closed. we didn’t have drinks, but ordered food instead. the chicken quesadilla was good — it was a big portion. my boyfriend had a burger and fries which was also a large portion and they actually stuff the cheese inside the burger patty, so that looked yummy. the chips and salsa weren’t that great though for a ‘mexican’ restaurant. the chips tasted stale, but i’m not sure if they were or that was just the style of chip. we were surprised at how packed it got, then again, it was a friday night i suppose. it’s a really small bar and it looked like most of the people in there and hanging out outside were locals, so we felt a bit out of place. unfortunately, didn’t get to try out the actual restaurant upstairs because the kitchen closed at like 9 and i didn’t get to check out their happy hour menu because that didn’t start til 10.

Place was dead but I liked that. Great portions, not overkill. Good service, good food and the little tamale they give you on your plate is delicious! It’s like cornbread in liquid form– awesome! I hope this place gets more reviews. I’d go again.

Not a whole lot of nightlife on a Sunday night in Lahaina, Maui. This was literally the only place open and with people in it! Everyone was really nice, food and drinks were pretty good. All around good time. Tip: –Nachos feed like 5 people :) –Soft Tacos: the corn tortillas are fried in oil
