Game stop is always is a pain in the butt and they need to hire more staff and streamline their checkout process. However there the only people around with good games and my kids love the place. Kathy at the Lake Forest location is great employee and helped me out today with a trade in, so if you need help, ask for her.

Great service. Clean store. Traded in old Nintendo for better one. Got more games. Will come back

Every time I have gone here my experience hasn’t been the best. Their inventory was messed up(something they claimed never happened and were surprised that I ran into the issue 4 times). The return policy is awful and you also get next to nothing for trade ins. The games I want usually are not there because they largely only have games for the Xbox or play station. The staff is friendly though.

I don’t want to rate, I just want to let you know your phones are messed up! I called this morning between 10:05&10:10AM a few times. Just a heads up! :-)

I came in to exchange a used game I didn’t enjoy less than 7 days after purchase, per Gamestop policy. At the time I bought the game, the staff recommended I renew my Power Up Rewards card to take advantage of better pricing and a buy 2, get 1 free deal. The game that I wanted to exchange happened to be the game that I received for free with the buy 2, get 1 deal, and while I can understand not refunding the full $ value of the game because of the deal, the Gamestop employee denied that I could even exchange it claiming that«You can’t return it because you didn’t pay for it since you got a deal.» I asked him if I could exchange it for another item of equal or greater value and pay the difference and he insisted that I could not exchange or return the game because I «got it for free.» Luckily, Alex was there and quickly took over the sale and handled it professionally. He gave me credit for the Gamestop value of the game and applied it to the new item. He was very friendly and helpful after I finished talking with the other person that didn’t know store policy regarding used games. If you visit this Gamestop, just be sure to deal with Alex as he seems to be the most knowledgeable guy working there.

I am not a gamer by any means, and cringed at the thought of going to a retail game place for my kids. After several destroyed fifty dollar games due to ruined xboxes or kid destruction, I heard about the gamestop insurance policy. Now I dont go anywhere else. The game prices are actually on par with big box retailers and often cheaper. The nerds who work there are really helpful as well. I always go there first now, and will continue to do so until my son outgrows this crap.

Staff is helpful, but I’m a bit bummed at how little you get for trade ins. I gave a friend of mine all my PS2 games because I was moving and ran out of boxes to carry all my games(60 in total).I had some rare titles like Journey to Jaburo, Zeonic Front and Suikoden 3. Not only did I pay $ 15 bucks for Suikoden 3 back in 08, but I just looked on Amazon the other day and found out with much heartbreak that it goes for $ 60 and more because it really is a rare PS2 title. The guys here offered him like a buck fifty for it. I mean seriously? Thats not even ten percent of the original cost. I personally like the one in Foothill Ranch because they gave me three games for a copy of Skyrim(ps3).Sadly that one is closed now. I think the best thing to do is not trade in games, but sale them at a garage sale or online like on Amazon. Also anyone else notice how these guys are always trying to sale you some membership card or some stupid magazine subscription? I swear Prima guides were cool when I was ten, but that was back in the 90s. Who needs magazines when you can go online? Its almost like Blockbuster. I swear these guys have never heard of the internet or a decent trade in. Like I said go online instead.

Usually, I would rate a Game Stop as 3 stars. This one has the same games, same layout, same odd plastic/electronic/sweaty teen boy smell as all the rest. BUT! The reason I am ranking them a 5 star is of one particular employee. Shaun was professional, courteous, attentive and genuine in his dealing with customers. And not just with me. I overheard his dealings with 3 other customers while I was there and he was great with all of them.

Out of the handful of GameStops around my house, I think this one is my favorite because I’m able to find games here that I can’t at other ones. They’re a little bigger than most stores so they have room for a GameCube display, one of the few that still carry a good selection of GC games. Also, I found a copy of Fatal Frame II here for $ 20 in GREAT condition where it would’ve cost me closer to $ 75 – 100 online.

Wow! This store under the local radar or is it just hard to find this place? First off, yeah, I’m a gamer. Secondly, this place is the place to get the games you want. Don’t hate, but I’m a die-hard XBox360 guy(until the thing craps out on me!) The place is clean, organized, with the games actually sorted by game console system and in alphabetically order. Your games are clearly priced for both new and used. They carry the necessary accessories and have display game consoles that actually work and can be played on. Besides the latest advertising media(cardboard pop-ups, posters, etc), they have your cheater books and collectibles. Sort of from the Blockbuster theme, they have a posted game-board when the next game is being released AND they do take pre-orders to avoid the long wait to get the game you want. If your a gamer, get the GameStop card, it’s not much of an annual fee and you get the Game Informer magazine in the mail. Basically, the magazine tells you about the latest games, reviews, and feedback, too. The card also allows you to get discounts and credits when you do game exchanges. Speaking of game exchanges, they take them as you got them from other stores or when someone gives you a unwanted game as a gift(really, Viva Piñata?, seriously, really?) The credit on the games and condition are prorated, but it’s better than nothing. Lastly, the staff. They are friendly and knowledgeable. They will give you the unsolicited lowdown on games they played. They want you to be happy with the game you purchased and actually thank you for shopping at their store. I went in one time to get a partial credit on some games to make a new game purchase and they told me to wait a couple days for the big sale promo to kick in. Saved me some bucks and was able to buy two new games and some sleepless nights to boot after work… if you gamers know what I mean. Why only 4-stars? Just a personal preference, but I will be buying games only at this place. Game on!
