Best Bloody Mary’s I have ever tasted. Kevin was our awesome bartender. He made the bloody’s from scratch according to our spicy preference level. Even better, the bloody’s are served with a basket of hot buttered popcorn and an ice cold side beer. We were offered a choice of Blue Moon, Killian’s Red, Spotted Cow or Miller Lite. Scott, the general manager, came over and introduced himself, and welcomed us to The Mars.

Love the north woods, rustic ambience of this Lake Geneva area favorite. Great burgers. Terrific ribs and fried chicken, and the waitresses are a hoot.

Came in for dinner. My girlfriend and I requested to know how long the wait was. The only answer we could get was«5 deuces ahead of you». We were requested to sit at the bar. 90 minutes later we went to the hostess again to ask if perhaps they had made a mistake. She informed us that«two deuces» remained in front of us. When we pressed for a estimate on time. We were told«it really depends on how long people stay». Obviously we left. I am 36 and have been in the restaurant business since I was 16. Tonight was some of the worst customer service I have ever received. I currently own 3 restaurants and am extremely hesitant to ever leave a bad review on any site. However this was awful and can’t be excused.

Mars is a restaurant that should be a classic dinner, casual restaurant to go to. First off… the resort? They have three abandoned cabins that haven’t seen life in 25 years, and why would one want to stay here, with the amenities offered within. A mile by upscale resorts? The food and bar are the features. How ever a dark dingy dining room doesn’t lend itself to t he lakeside views from the windows! Please, please repaint and brighten up the place. Bottom line, good food, reasonable prices.

Love the traditional Wisconsin supper club! Complete with lounge singer. I was surprised, the strip steak I had was cooked to perfection and my wife’s perch fish fry was great. It’s nice to know we can get good fish fry close to our home in IL. I can’t speak to the rest of the servers there but ours was amazing, great experience.

I was born in the late 80’s and always wondered about the 70’s. I haven’t tried the food yet. I will update on my next visit. It was fun to drink at the oddly shaped bar and overlook the lake and daydream of the days when this place was packed with Chicago Resort Goers.

I personally liked the old décor. we tried it because we didn’t want to head towards lake geneva on a sunday for lunch, we live on the next street over from this place. My husands chili was cold. My $ 12 fried chicken was good, but it’s was must have come from a super small chicken. $ 2 for a small tap pepsi filled mostly with ice and no free refills. My husband did like his sandwich he ordered. The waitress, though friendly, was slow. Even if I wanted to pay for refills, we certainly wasn’t being offered any. Our Food was thrown down on table without any words exchanged, so I couldnt even ask for ketchup. I was mighty impressed/jealous when the table next to us got offered ketchup with their food… but after 10 minutes, they finally just asked us to use ours since they were not brought it. Our table was left with garbage and plates from the cheese and crackers(all individually packaged) because it was never taken away. Even when our food came. It’s just the waitress that really made the visit irritating. I watched another customer complain about her food, and the waitress just looked aggravated with her for complaining, took it and said she would take it off the bill. Then when we got our bill, we had drinks added to ours, that we did not order. We are totally willing to try it again, we just hope our waitress improves. The lady at the door, totally thought she was a doll!

After bragging to my Chicago group how great Mars is, we called ahead to say there would be 8 of us. We were told, «Shouldn’t be a problem, but call while you’re on the way.» We did so, and upon arrival, were sent to he bar. After waiting over an hour, we weren’t even close to getting seated. Understanding that sometimes tables turn slowly, nearby bar patrons actually moved around to accommodate us all at the bar. After sitting, we were told we could not eat at the bar. What? Next, we were told we could get two tables of 4, but, we could NOT push the tables together. Once again, what? Having been schooled on the dining experience, we decided to exit. A short trip up the road is Café Calamari. They welcomed us like family, gave us incredible service and wonderful food, and we had a great, great time. We will certainly be back and recommend it every chance we get.

$ 2 for a six ounce coke. No free refills. $ 2 to split a sandwich. Extra dollar for separate checks. Service sucks. Won’t ever go back. Nothing more to say

Yes I realize these are fighting words if you are from chicago, but the ribs rival Twin Anchors. Also love love love the blue cheese dressing. Prepare for a long wait but the outside patio additions are super cute and our kids love to play in the big sand box by the lake. Watching great live music with a lake view, drinking a cold as I type this. Not half bad.

Great service. Great food. Even better atmosphere. We have a summer home across the lake and after coming nearly a dozen times, decided to kayak over here for dinner the other day and it was perfect! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. Make sure you start by ordering the cheese dip. Saturdays they have a great live band and other nights(almost all) they have a live singer and pianist. This place is such a gem!

Pretty darn good! Old school dining at it’s best. We choose Mars Resort and we were not disappointed. We had a longer than normal wait because the weather was so perfect we wanted to eat outside. No problem. We paid for some drinks at the bar and headed out to their patio reserved for hanging out and drinking. Picture perfect. When our table was ready we found we were there on rib night. We had noticed that many of the other patrons were ordering the ribs. They were pretty darn good. The sauce was terrific as well. Good beers to choose from, bread stiicks and pub cheese, great coleslaw and the bartender me a whiskey old fashioned that was one of the best i’ve had. Great evening on the waterfront.

I have only been for the bands on Saturday afternoon on the deck by the boats. We came in our own boat and docked at their pier. Lots of fun! Bands are always entertaining. Their Hurricanes taste awesome, but knocked me on my butt. So please drink slowly. Our favorite place to go on Lake Como.

Mars is a great, kitchy, old Wisconsin supper club complete with wood paneling and a piano bar. The view over Lake Como is spectacular — especially at sunset and the patio is the perfect place for cocktails. We prefer to take our meal indoors due to mosquito. Each meal starts with a ball of gooey cheese and crackers. I have only(every time) had the ribs — what an absolute treat. I recommend trying the home fries — delicious with the BBQ sauce. The one caution — no reservations. Go early to minimize the wait, but expect an hour. Also watch out for the hostess… she’s plain rude, but if you can get past that, you’re in for a treat!

I’ve had lunch at Mars before. It was a very good Reuben. Last night my family had dinner at Mars. It was crowded when we arrived so we went out on the deck overlooking the lake for cocktails. The hostess could not estimate how long of a wait we would have. The outside waitress took our drink order right away. As soon as she left to get our drinks, the hostess came to get us so we could back inside, our table was ready. I would have thought that she could have estimated the less than 10 minutes it took. She seated us near the piano bar. Very nice music, even customers took their turn singing. The outside waitress then brought us our drinks and said it would be better if we paid her for those drinks rather than putting them on our diner bill. Ok, whatever. Summer help no doubt,. Our waitress brought us a cracker tray with butter and about a tablespoon of cheese spread. The cheese was vey good, but a tablespoon of cheese for six people? She took our orders and refreshed our drinks. All of the waitress’s were running and working very hard. The dinner salads were typical but good. Several of us had the chicken pot pie soup. It was great. Thick and creamy with large pieces of tasty chicken. My sister in law had a top butt steak. Haven’t heard of that cut before but she said it was vey good and a good size portion. My brother said his bluegill was very good. My wife had the fried walleye. She loved it. Good size portion, lightly battered and fried just right. I tasted it too and thought it was very good. I would order it even though I’m not really a walleye fan. I had the grilled duck. I love duck but have always had it roasted. The duck was done just right. Charred skin and moist inside. Very good but could use a little spice, maybe as simple as more salt and pepper. I ordered hash browns for my potatoe. Supper clubs usually have good hash browns. These were disappointing. They were not home made. They were perfectly square, out of the freezer toaster type fast food. Too bad, they took the time to grill a good duck and then serve it with fast food hash browns. A little extra work on that type of extras would get the fifth star. My son had the half of a chicken. It was the star of the evening. We all had to try it. It was moist, juicy and excellently seasoned. None of could get over how good it was. It explains why the soup was so good. All of that said, we would again drive the thirty miles again just for the chicken. However, my son too was very disappointed in his order of hash browns. Overall, I will be back. I thought that the entrees we had were excellent. Mars does need to work on the side dishes. As long as you go to the trouble of making excellent entrees, complete the experience and make excellent sides. A little spring cleaning and a new carpet would help too. Don’t get me wrong, Mars is definitely a good place to have that Wisconsin supper club experience. Great views with very good food. You must try the chicken.

I’m a little torn about this place. It’s so cutely locked in a time about 30 years ago, that I don’t want to gripe about anything related to that. But there are some things that I think could lift this place to being a real keeper. The ribs, done perfectly in terms of chewiness, were missing any real hint of smoke and could have used another five minutes on the grill to take some of the moisture out of them and added flavor. The bbq sauce is reminiscent of Russell’s BBQ sauce(Suburban Chicago folks will know what I mean), and that’s an acquired taste. I recommend something more traditional. Fried chicken was great. Crispy and not greasy. Pork chops were okay. Not sure why they are served boneless. Top Butt was really beefy tasting and done to perfection. Baked potato was wrapped in foil and that ruins it for me, although I know that’s tradition. Good salads, no relish plate, big mixed drinks, limited beer selection on draft. Great crowd at the bar, tremendous views, get here early or else get here thirsty because you will wait…

Old school supper club that hasn’t changed in 30 years. Food is not fancy and what you’d expect from a supper club menu. They still have a piano bar. The hostess was gruff but our waitress was a sweetheart. Will definitely be back! Tip: on Saturday nights it can get rowdy. There was a full on middle aged dance party on the outdoor patio when were there. If that’s not your scene, come during the week.

On beautiful green lake como. No not Italy but right here in Wisconsin. Great prices, friendly staff, solid food. When the tourists of lake Geneva(no not Switzerland) get you down this is where da locals go(and next door pub) I had some beers with wifey a week ago and some tasty ½ burgers. Small but really cool deck on side for the 2 weeks of summer they get. Of note: Place opened in 1943. Some waitresses are originals.

This place was a riot. It’s well off the beaten path of the Lake Geneva craziness. The atmosphere is simply fun, and places like this need to exist. There was a woman playing the piano and singing, and there are several seats around the piano bar. I would suggest trying to sit there if you can! Several patrons took the mike and sang their own tunes, but I gather these folks are regulars and have been«blessed» with the right to sing. The staff is very nice, even to the visiting FIBS. :) The food was OK, they are known for their ribs, and they are fairly good. I had their fried chicken and it was just OK. The place is super busy on weekends, especially summer ones so get there early or belly up to the bar and wait. It’s not a big place at all, so sitting a large group could be difficult. Overall I recommend this place for the atmosphere, not so much the food though.
