This restaurant has an amazing atmosphere. It has a large bar inside with seating if you prefer being indoors but I highly suggested you sit outside by the water. You will have a breathtaking view through out dinner of the lake and boats. The cocktails at the bar are delicious as well. I had a Huckleberry Lemonade that was very refreshing and good. For appetizers my family and I shared Calamari and it was very good. My sister and I for dinner split a lobster roll and scallops. Our dinners came with salad and fresh bread. All was very good and I plan to go back this summer. If your in Lake George definitely give this place a try!

Terrible service, terrible food. They can even screw up a burger. Have a beer and leave. Great views, great setting, beautiful old antique boathouse. Have a beer, enjoy the experience and LEAVE.

So bad! Felt like we were eating hotel food! Really really bad! The view is good! Maybe a good place for drinks that’s it!

This is a general review based on several visits. The property where the Boathouse is located and the Boathouse building itself are among my favorite places in the world! But every time I have tried the restaurant I have been disappointed. Just look through the reviews. Everyone is saying the same thing. Spectacular location, uninspired menu and mediocre food. I have always found the service to be good but I am always here off season. I really wish a new management team and chef would come. Maybe even just for the present management to consult with. I know Lake George isn’t known for great restaurants but this spot could be magical if the food matched the setting. They are doing it at Bistro Roux so there must be a market.

Excellent view during daytime. Good service! The food was OK, nothing really special on their menu. However if you check in through Unilocal they offer you 2 glasses of wine per table.

Visit Date: September 5, 2015 It was suggested we visit here by one of my co-workers. So the first night my hubby, brother in law, and brother in law’s girlfriend were together in Lake George we decided to eat dinner here. The view is amazing, especially if you decide to eat outside on one of the docks. The restaurant is slightly secluded which provides a beautiful atmosphere. The wine choices were varied which made for a good selection, the staff was also very friendly. I had the California Salad, some dutch pretzel rolls that hubby ordered for an appetizer and the bread they served before the meal. Everything was good, not quite 5 stars but 4 stars. The stairs to get into the restaurant are steep but they have attendants in golf carts providing rides down to the restaurant and than back up to the restaurant so that you can get to your cars.

This is a nice restaurant with a view of the lake. The food was good, but rich. Salads, fish, and dessert were all tasty. Service was friendly and attentive. This place is just north of town, nice drive.

I have been hear many times in the past but haven’t been in over 7 years. The restaurant is the same pretty much but the outside seating areas have been upgraded. The food is okay, but a little to pricy for the quality. I got the chicken pasta meal and that was okay the sauce very watery. My boyfriend got the New York steak he did care to much for it. Just don’t go expecting the best dinner of your life. Just expect a good dinner with a nice view. Also the coupon for a free drink on Unilocal was nice. All in l worth the visit of your looking for a restaurant that is outside of town with a nice lake view.

Very disappointed. Service was deplorable. We waited 45 minutes to get a server to take our drink order, and another half hour to receive drinks. Food just OK. Back to the Algonquin — worth the drive!

Love this place — our family has been coming here for over 16 years! Best part of the place, other than the two bars, live entertainment, and North American cuisine, are the proprietors, the Vogel family.

Staying at lake George for the weekend can be overwhelming, too many things to do with so little time, and in an area as touristic as lake George is, restaurants are everywhere. Finding a good restaurant in this area is like a needle In a haystack. luckily, this is an amazing place. I came with a friends to grab a quick bite and we weren’t disappointed. We both had burgers well done with fries. It was big, juicy, full of flavor and ate every single bite. I can’t say much about what else they have on the menu, but from what we had(including warm flaky bread with butter) it is definitely worth it . Obviously though, you wouldn’t come primarily for the food, you come for the view, and whether you eat inside or out, the view is fantastic and gives you a more quite and peaceful view of lake George, which makes this restaurant worth every penny. Speaking of which, the prices were really good; 2 full burgers with fries, and 2 drinks came to just under 50. Overall, good food, perfect view, great price makes this place a must if you come to visit lake George.

If you get to sit out on the gazebo, you will enjoy yourself. Very nice view, nice breeze. The food is so lousy though. Limp, lifeless slop! Nice waitress though.

After dinner, credit card charges were too low. When we tried to get it corrected, no one knew how to fix it, even a manager who was rude could not fix it. After finding slips in their trash and almost an hour discoverd they had charged one card 3 times which was then denied. Finally used a different card and thought it was fixed. The next day, our bank called due to 6 fraudulent charges(which they never told us about) from the boathouse resturant, they were cancelling our credit card. After talking to two different managers both were very rude and never apologized or tried to correct their error . Beware when handing over your credit card! If it is wrong in your favor as ours was leave it as is !

Located in the nicest location of Lake George this restaurant doesn’t stand up to the standard. We ordered two rounds of drinks: first margaritas and then Long Island ice teas and we ended up not drinking either. Those were officially the worst drinks I’ve ever had. The table next to us refused to drink their drinks either and sent them back. They need to re-train their bartenders. The food was not good either. My chicken was literally burned. They received two stars from for the only because of the view.

After an exhausting hike up buck mountain we decided to go to an early dinner at Boathouse. Regrets set on immediately. We decided to sit at the bar because we were ravenous and figured this would provide optimum efficiency in ordering. After ordering drinks, we ordered soup and two salads. A couple sitting at a window table sat down after we ordered and they got both of their meals before we did. No big deal right? Well after my first Labatt blue light I asked for a second, and I watched her fill up my glass with coors light. Well strike two, no big deal. Just when I thought they might be turning it around I was wrong. We saw other tables had bread baskets, so we asked for some. What we got was ice cold rolls seemingly just pulled out of the fridge, and to boot the butter was rock hard frozen. They did make up for some problems by the quality of the salads, they were pretty good. If you’re looking for mediocre service, the wrong drinks, and a general feeling of dissatisfaction, then this is the place for you.

Incredible food, well-mixed drinks, friendly and personal service, and a breathtaking view. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend it to others. The rolls to start were fresh, warm, and delicious. We ordered the shrimp cocktail appetizer, fillet minion dinner and chicken Sierra with both the potatoes and rice sides and broccoli. The food was all fresh. The drinks were made well, not too sweet, and we could tell they don’t use mixes. We had the Jdaly and the Vodka melonade. The side salads were also fresh and delicious — not just some greens thrown on a plate. A great experience to be remembered.

I loved this place as a child hood memory. However, with my past experience I don’t know if it was because I was a kid, or it was actually better 12 years ago. With my girlfriend and I ordering the same thing but our two plates being one less than half the size of the other makes one one wonder what experence was the true experience.

Yes, we’ll return to the resort one day, and from the other reviews I’ve seen I’d say a personal change in the kitchen management is inevitable… I’m not a liar, I assure you our observations of the salad and shrimp cocktail we were served are very accurate… the cocktail sauce(a very simple thing to make to order, was most certainly not freshly made and served in a tiny plastic to go cup… I have 30yrs experience in the food industry, and do not appreciate your defensive tactics in regards to my observation of your restaurant. You would do better to acknowledge your shortcomings and make corrections.
