Just picked up lunch for the family and gotta say I was pleasantly surprised. Everything was made to order and fresh. Got back to house and everything smelled and tasted great. Oh and cheap. $ 30 for lunch for 4. I would def go back any day. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. Wonder if ownership or something changed in the last couple of years. Anyway, def best Chinese in Lake Mary, hands down.

This is the best Chinese food I’ve ever had! Everything is so fresh! The chicken was moist and not over battered with crap, the rice was moist and fresh, the egg rolls and soup I had were just phenomenal too! They give you so much food for such a small cost! Hands down the best place I’ve ever had!(Chinese food wise) I use to always go to Lees palace but there food just seemed to go downhill and it isn’t that clean in the back. This place Shanghai was so clean and it smelled good inside lol I highly recommend takeout or delivery. Either or, they were fast. Trust me. I love food, I’m a 6’2225lb guy that used to play football. I love food and I critique food all the time lol. Hope this review helps

Consistently good. Boneless spareribs are close to perfect. I love the color of the rice.

They don’t deliver any more Cmon man and what up with that How can you be a Chinese delivery restaurant and not deliver. The old lady that answers the phone is rude and needs a lesson in customer service. The food is good especially for Central Fl but not anything to write home about. Not worth going to get it yourself especially when they treat you like crap and there’s never a place to legally park up there. Pass

I’ve been on the search for a Chinese restaurant that tastes just as good as the places back home in Cali and during my search through Central Florida, I found that it’s really hard to find one! I stumbled on this place on accident. Looked up some reviews and decided to give it a shot. And I was NOT disappointed! This place is amazing. It tastes just as good as my favorite place in NorCal. They also offer Egg Foo Young and it is utter perfection! The prices are affordable, the wait time isn’t that long and they deliver if you make an order of $ 20 or more! Definitely my new go to place when I’m craving real Chinese food!

My coworkers talked this place up for months so I decided to try it. I’m from NY so if you say NY Style Chinese Food than that’s what I’m expecting. Boy was I dissapointed! The pot stickers were horrible! The sauce that comes with it was delish but they gave u a super mini sized cup of the sauce which was about a tablespoon. The chicken & broccoli was also terrible. It had no flavor & they sparingly gave me that sauce also. All around terrible experience! Wouldn’t go there again if you paid me. Cheng’s on Lake Mary Blvd is much MUCH better!

Not a good experience today… cashier lady was really unfriendly and my takeout sweet and sour shrimp was doughy inside the batter. Sauce was delicious though.

This place is awesome. I heard about it from work and they said that they were good. I had gone to try their Orange Chicken, it was great!

We have been ordering chinese from here for 3 years. I chose to write a review because i have finally given up on this place. The way they talk to you on the phone when placing an order is damn right rude and unpleasant. It appears to be the same when you collect your food. More recently the food has got as bad as the customer service. My wife was sick the day after eating here and when we ate their at the weekend my mom was sick within 30 minutes of leaving. Shanghai you need to talk to your customers politely and with a smile. I won’t be using you again. You have lost a valued customer! Shame on you.

Just finished my meal and had to come right in to review. I lived in NYC area my entire life and this is a great representation of it. All the ingredients were fresh and cooked perfectly. Plenty of natural food flavors coming through, food not greasy or filled with msg. I highly recommend giving it a try. Employees were friendly and food order piping hot when I got it home.

Sorry, I had to log back in and downgrade this place one more star. The counter woman turned her back to the seating area and started reading the paper. Soon after, the owners started yelling at each other, and it was so uncomfortable I had to leave before I finished lunch(they didn’t notice or care). Likely explains my original comments below. I realize people have problems — my issue is total lack of awareness, and not caring about customers. Food was as expected and good value. Would rate 3. Service was non existent, or worse. Lady threw my food on the table and walked away. Thanked her throughout ordering and service: not a word in response. Stick with take out here. *edit — or just avoid it.

The wonton soup was almost flavorless. The curry shrimp was also surprisingly bland. I had hoped to find a new local spot for Chinese food, I regret that this isn’t going to make my list. It is 7 pm on Friday night and there are very few customers, not a good sign.

Food was not bad but found a dead bug in the food that my kid was eating. Would never return to the place. When informed the lady taking orders, reaction was very cold and was offered a prompt refund. If the place can’t maintain clean standards, not a place I would visit again !!!

Poor service, average food, found a fly in the soup. There are several better Chinese restaurants in the area.

Get your fortune cookie on… I stumbled on to this restaurant as I was shopping in the Colonial Towne Park Center. It has a few tables and not very fancy. Most of their business is clearly take out, which is what I did. I ordered hunan beef and Kung poa chicken and shrimp fried rice. The hunan beef was lean very tasty. The Kung poa chicken was yummy and the shrip fried rice exceptional. The food was fresh, not greasy and excellent. Parking is a little challenging. I would say that this is a keeper. Fortune cookie says, «You will have a pleasant surprise…»

Tonight we tried this place tonight for the first time and we weren’t pleasantly surprised. We had the hot and sour soup which was alright I love the mushrooms that they put in it here in Florida but is difficult to mess up. My wife had the lemon chicken to which she has tried at no less than forty different Chinese restaurants and was disappointed, the chicken was«adequate» and the lemon sauce was«horrible». I had the house lo mien and thought it was ok, no complaints. For a quick bite that isn’t so expensive it’s not horrible.

Pretty good take-out food. Everything I’ve tried has been tasty and better than expected. I appreciate that it’s lacking the super oily after-taste of many other fast food Chinese places. The only downsides: 1) Parking 2) A bit pricier than other similar places Aside from that, it really is some of the best Chinese take-out I’ve had in the Orlando area.

I am per se not a fan of take out as I prefer to dine at restaurants where I can simply sit back and enjoy my meal. Especially since, I am perpetually in my kitchen whipping up the next masterpiece. After having an overwhelming hectic April I was feeling rather lazy and since my family adores South Eastern Cuisine, not to mention that Shanghai is practically in my back yard; we ordered some take out. Having absolutely no expectations(being disappointed way too many times with Chinese takeout in CFL); the food at Shanghai was a refreshing welcome. We ordered the typical dishes readily available in most takeout joints: Chicken Chow Mei Fun, Sesame Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Shredded Pork with Garlic Sauce, and Hot & Spicy Beef. Even though we stuck with the basics, they were non-greasy, light, and bursting with bold flavors. One could easily conclude that the dishes were made fresh to order. The spicy beef was ‘spicy’, tender slices of beef sautéed in a spicy dry sauce. The Kung Pao & Sesame Chicken were not much to speak about in flavors. They were simply average. The Pork on the other hand was very tender, bursting with garlicky flavors. Nicely done! The interesting fact to know before you order at Shanghai is that they have two menu prices, $ 5 for a small carry out box and one $ 9+ for the bigger portions. The $ 5 price is ideal to try new dishes without breaking the bank. Another advantage Shanghai restaurant holds is their location. It is conveniently located right opposite World of Beer. Now all of you that are privy to World of Beer, you are familiar with their policy to allow BYOF(bring your own food). So any particular day you are craving a beer, head on to Shanghai restaurant, grab a bite, and nurse a beer on the patio of World of Beers; it’s the ideal marriage of beer and food. Bottom line is that it was perhaps the best takeout I have experienced in CFL. Whether you are in a hurry, being lazy, or just strolling around Colonial Town Park, give Shanghai Restaurant a chance. Like me, you will be pleasantly surprised too.

Take out joint with fresh and flavor– it’s early but so far so good. Let’s see if they can be consistent. Chicken and broccoli — a staple and you must be able to make a good dish — results were outstanding with flavorful brown sauce — well done! The chicken with string beans — outstanding! Dumplings — fresh, made in house and totally rocked. Great dumplings sauce. The white rice was fresh, light, with a little sticky which is perfect. Not a big fan of the fried rice — it was more like bad Spanish rice. So far, the best Chinese take out food I’ve had in Florida — and I’m used to NYC and NJ Chinese food which is the best in the US.
