Wonderful experience. It was the first time I ever had highlights and Lindsey did an amazing job and exactly what I wanted. Everyone was friendly, there was no overwhelming chemical smell, the place was very nice and clean, price was consistent with what the rate is for a nice salon.

I used Salon U for my bridal party yesterday! WOW! Just wanted to say THANK YOU to Lisa Chamberlain-​Miller and ALL of the girls who work at Salon U for making my wedding morning/​afternoon so stress-​free for me. You were all amazing and so accommodating of us. My entire bridal party and my mom and new mum-​in law were very pleased. So many wedding guests were complimenting all of the cool and different updos you did. Bravo!!! You guys set the tone for the rest of the day. I had NO stress or anxiety. Alyssa did an amazing job with my makeup as well as my mother, my mum-​in-​law, and 2 of my bridesmaids who got their makeup done. I even wore fake eye-​lashes for the first time and I forgot they were even there. I loved my hair too. Amazing!

I tried Salon U after reading online reviews and desperately needing a salon change. It was a great experience. I have been changing my hair color and cut for many years so I feel like I know a lot when it comes to what looks good on me and what doesn’t. Alyssa was awesome, took her time with me, and actually listened! She didn’t act like a know it all stylist and took the time to make my first time there a great one. My favorite part was at the end when she styled my hair she gave me tips on how to do it at home — without me asking her to do so. She also didn’t push products. That always makes me uncomfortable. The salon uses Bumble&Bumble — which is also a huge plus in my book.
Overall if you are looking for a salon that is professional, welcoming, and current without being intimidating or uppity — this is your salon. It has a great downtown Lake Orion location, super cute décor and is very clean with an open floor plan.
My haircut and color were pricey, but within going rate — not out of range. I also appreciated how Alyssa talked me through her process and pricing, which made me more comfortable as a first time client.
You get what you pay for, and I will be back for sure.
PS-​They were advertising Shellac manicures for $ 25! I’m going to check that out as well.

I used Salon U for my wedding, and they went out of their way to make the morning very special. Everyone was very excited, they had out a plate of muffins and fruit, and all the staff had big smiles and were very helpful. The staff was great!
Nails: We had manicures and pedicures the day before the wedding (would you believe this is one of the only salons in the area with more than one pedicure chair?!). The staff was great, friendly, and easy to talk to. I will say that the manicures were just OK — and my bridal party all agreed that the manicures were not top notch. Basically, while your hands feel great, with a closer inspection I noticed my cuticles did not look that cared for. I will say my french manicure was ON and not coming off (in fact I have dipped my hands in nail polish remover and still can’t get it all off!!).
Makeup: WONDERFUL!!! Alyssa rocks. She was so fun and exciting to work with. I really wanted a natural look — but enhanced enough for pictures and she did a fabulous job.
Hair: When they are good they are good — and when they aren’t they aren’t! I was blessed to have a hairdresser who knew her stuff and my hair was everything I had ever dreamed (though she was having quite the convo with another stylist about her medical concerns…). A few of the bridesmaids hair updos were not that great and did not hold well. On the way out one bridesmaid asked for a dash more of hairspray because it didn’t look like it would hold, and the hairstylist just handed her a can of hairspray to do it herself.
Overall a good experience — but I would bring your own ideas for your updos and be picky about who you work with. My wedding was great though and I appreciated everyone’s hard work!

Today was my first visit to Salon U. I am using my husband’s account to write this in case you were wondering… I received an excellent haircut. It was a bit pricy $ 45.00. But good haircuts are expensive nowadays! I have then, straight, fine hair and Nicole did an excellent job. She was chatty and very informative on how I could style it in the future.

i just recently received my 2^nd trim here at salon U. i have to say, it’s always on point. expect great shampoo treatment. if it’s your time say hi to stacy the receptionist, and always ask for Lauren Brown-​Brown. she’s the best. by far one of the cutting-​edge salon’s in metro detroit.
