I love this place. The baked Bree was flawless and the apricot chicken salad sandwich was magnificent. The best part was the chocolate lava cake, which was amazing. This place was awesome! 10⁄10 would recommend!

First, the setting. It’s on Mirror Lake and attached to the Mirror Lake Inn. It sits right on the lake with an awesome view of the water and Adirondack high peaks. The bar and inside area all provide panoramic views. There is a porch area that has about 10 – 12 tables. This is the absolute best place in Lake Placid to get a drink! Ate here twice during my stay. Decent sandwiches. Also had the artichoke spinach dip, which had a kick but was very good as well. Drinks are a little pricey but what do you expect? I found a loophole in domestic beer bottles. They make a Mirror Lake Mule, which is served in a copper mug with grapefruit vodka and infused with limes. My wife loved them! Now that you’ve read this far, try to keep the secret between us.

In town for a conference and was looking for some good food. We found it! Amazing salads, sandwiches, and desserts. Would come back as often as I could.

Great place to eat on the patio overlooking Mirror Lake if weather is nice. A favorite for me is the apricot chicken salad sandwich which has been a mainstay on the menu. Nachos are also well done here. Service was very attentive. Needed a little cleaning when we were there the other weekend. Great place to come for appetizers like the cheese board and the spinach and artichoke dip.

We loved The Cottage! It is very cozy and quaint. They have a great deck and patio with a fire pit. We stopped in for drinks while passing through town, but cannot wait until we return to try dinner there. Amazing views!

Love this place! Stop in every time I’m in the area. Great happy hour and staff is excellent. Went back for lunch the next day! The bloody Mary’s are build your own and so good. The Caesar salad was huge with nice crisp romaine, chipotle dressing, blue cheese and sun dried. I added chicken and it was warm and cooked nicely. My husband had the Montréal sandwich and it was awesome. A must stop in Placid!

Every summer that we stay at our house in Keene valley, we make sure to have our trek to this fantastic place, we sit at the same see on the outside deck every time and watch the world go by as we eat excellent food.

Delicious food and great service. Brussel Sprout salad is very good. We got the Montréal and the Pulled Pork entrees. Both were very delicious. You are right on the lake. View is amazing. Fireplace is an added plus. Will come again!

Fantastic place! The food is very good, but the atmosphere makes it a place you can’t forget. We sat by the fireplace looking out over the lake.

We go to Lake Placid every year for Thanksgiving and have at least one meal here. We start with bloody mary’s at the bar and then order a bunch of appetizers(cheese board = yummy), salads and sandwiches. Always a must-have experience.

Bloody Mary is as good or better then what has been said before. I’d give it an A: has celery, a spicy pickle, and olives. Flat bread pizza was good but a bit salty and overdone. My husband liked it so he would give 4stars. Because of the problem, they gave us 10% off our check. I’d add another half star if I could. Ok, changed my rating. The chicken, squash, kale soup was excellent! Pizza still gets 3 stars. I don’t care what my husband says!

Bloody Mary’s — ONPOINT. Delicious. View — Beautiful, right on the lake, and there is outdoor seating. The food sadly was disappointing. The flat bread my girlfriend & I chose to share was inedible. It looked beautiful — but something on there tasted GROSS. Was it the cheese? Was it the bread? It tasted like it was cooked in a dishwasher. We couldn’t figure out why it tasted so bad. We both love pungent cheese, so its not like we are sensitive to that. Shrimp bruschetta? Not really bruschetta. More like 3 grilled shrimp with bread. Maybe we just ordered the wrong things, if I was in the area again I would come back to the bar for sure.

A must try place. They don’t have a large selection in the menu, but they are good at what they offer. I had fish taco and my wife had veggie mushroom pizza. Yum yum.

This restaurant is all about the location and the fabulous view. We got the best table on the deck — in the corner — after about a 10 minute wait. Good cucumber jalapeño margaritas. Their entrees are lacking, basically all sandwiches. We shared a few appetizers. The baked Brie was very good, maybe slightly heavy on the raspberry jam. Nachos were good, pretty standard. Definitely get the chili, they would have been boring without the chili. Tomato avocado caprese was tasty as well. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in lake placid.

We’ve been to the Cottage twice and found it to be fabulous each time. It’s a cozy little restaurant right on Mirror Lake, across the street from the well-known Mirror Lake Inn. The indoor area is small but features a large bar area and interesting Lake Placid themed décor. There is also a nice sized three season deck(probably four seasons if you were crazy enough to sit out there in the winter!) with heat lamps, a fire place, glass walls to protect from winds, and tables and couches. For food, you must try the baked brie appetizer. How they can make something this delicious is beyond me, but it is amazing! Overall, it’s a pretty small menu with not a ton of options so if you have folks in your group with food restrictions or are picky eaters, it might be best to come here for a drink or appetizer and head elsewhere in town for the main meal. A lot of folks come for a drink and the view of the lake and then head on with their day. The daily specials are listed on a chalkboard outside the restaurant so you can always check that out to see if there’s something that looks good.

AWESOME place to hang with family… Great bloody Mary ‘s and VERYACCOMMODATINGTO our party of 13 who all met up for a family get together. Yummy shrimp corn chowder, mediocre nachos… Too spicy. Turkey sammy good. And the spinach and artichoke tasted like all others.

The Cottage wins two superlatives in my opinion: best view and best Guinness. It’s a beautiful place to grab a drink or a casual bite to eat — the views of the lake are stunning and tranquil. The bar is small but cozy and they actually know how to pour a great Guinness. The bartender told me that they go through two kegs of Guinness a week, which also explains why this glorious stout tastes so good here! Pint glasses are only 16oz though :(. During the colder months, there’s a fire inside and also a fire pit outside. Although the Cottage is beautiful in the warmer months, my favorite time is when it’s toasty inside and cold outside. If you’re on your own, visit the bar and one of the regulars will be chatting to you in no time. The food is expensive but prepared nicely. One of my favorite places to grab a drink — usually a Guinness — in Lake Placid.
