Reminds me of the old Bally Gyms. The ones where they had a great deal to get you in the door, and then gave you the hard-sell, arm twisting, up-sell. Then, once you had foolishly locked yourself in to a contract, they nickle and dime you to death. All I wanted was to get a tan before I went on vacation so I didn’t have to spend valuable vacation time doing it. Is that too much to ask? I called, but they would not give me a price over the phone. That should have been sufficient to end my experience then and there. However, they are the closest place to my house, and I wanted to waste as little of my time as possible on the tanning experience, so I went in. I only need to come for a month(more like 3 weeks), but the minimum package is 2 months. So, before I’ve even started, I’m throwing away money. But, it’s the closest place to my house, and so … Once I got signed up(after saying«no», «no», and«no» again and again and again to all the«upgrades» I was offered, I was immediately advised that I *had* to have some skin cream(and I still don’t know why this is a «requirement»). The bottle of skin cream cost me $ 35 and that was after the 25% discount — what a bargain! :-/ But, it’s the closest place to my house, and so … On my second visit, I forgot the overpriced eye protectors I’d also had to buy. Of course, they wouldn’t dream of loaning me a pair. I either had to buy a new pair or pay $ 1 for a disposable pair. The disposable pair turned out to be a couple of pieces of adhesive-backed paper — kind of like a couple of Post-It Notes. But, it’s the closest place to my house, and so …
