First off, we went here today(01−02−16) for my grandmother’s 96th birthday. She has always loved eating there so that is where we decided to take her. When we first walked in it took 5 minutes for us to be seated because there was no host/hostess! When we finnaly sat down it took our server another 10 minutes to even greet us. We finaly got our drink order and then we ordered our entrée’s. It took about 20 minutes just for some meatlooaf, a salad and some pork chops. The salad was smothered in dressing, the meatloaf was dry and bland, and the pork chops tastes like they came from a frozen tv dinner. So all and all the customer service was not up to par, the food was tastless, and overpriced. Will not be coming back unless they will make it right.

Impolite, rude, impatient, and sour in mood– these waiters and waitresses are tired of their customer’s shit and it shows. I’m not going to pretend like the customer is always right, there really are a lot of awful customers out there that can ruin your day, but holy cow. Come here and try to have a decent meal despite the waiting staff, they’re only gonna try and ruin your day too.

The fried mushrooms were huge! Ricky, our server was nice, attentive and funny. We got the chicken fried chicken and the pot roast. The host cleaned a booth off for us per our request. We would go again. Great spot for comfort food if that is what you’re looking for.

Wanted to go out and enjoy a nice meal with my wife and kids. I was so disappointed! The waiter was not good… didn’t ask if we wanted a appetizer, no water served, once he delivered the food that was the last we saw of him. My wife got prime rib which was dry, I got the rib eye steak took a few bites and returned it since it was pure fat, and we sat with empty glasses on the table so didn’t have anything to drink for half our meal. Hope he enjoys his .97 cent tip. We will definitely not be going back anytime soon.

Four of us came in for dinner about an hour before closing. The host was nice & our server, Nick, was patient and friendly. Nick was also very attentive; he provided excellent customer service. Our meals arrived quickly & were very tasty.

Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve ventured in to a Black Eyed Pea. We may have been the youngest couple in there for lunch as they are pretty popular with the senior crowd. Don’t judge! Seniors gotta eat too! The décor was updated & the bar area looked great(nice TVs) primed for hanging out & watching events with friends. The menu has also changed, updated with great choices for lunch & dinner, if you can’t find what you want in this menu you’ve got problems. Our server was as perfect as you can get, what a great personality. Absolutely no complaints with our lunch & we will definitely be back more often.

Not my kind of place. Seems to cater to traditional artery clogging goodness… Which is fine, if that’s what you want. If you want Chicken fried chicken buried in a steaming mound of gravy, you might like this!

Good food, service and I highly suggest either the chicken fried chicken or the chicken fried steak. Southern style cooking. I like it better than Cracker Barrel. Seem to cater to the senior crowd. Must give a senior discount.

Chicken Fried Steak. It’s a classic American dish, and one that the Black Eyed Pea is known for. Yet this location found a way to mess up one of their signature plates by not fully cooking it. My list of gripes about this location are as follows: 1: It’s dingy, and if you have like wobbly tables you’ll find them here. At least our group did. 2: Inattentive service. No I don’t want my chicken fried steak smothered in gravy, I want it on the side. When a server comes to my table and messes up my drink choice, and gets my main order wrong I’m not going to be happy. 3: Cold green beans. Seriously. 4: Tea. Well it was supposed to be tea. It kinda looked like tea, but it ended up tasting like sugar as I had to use an awful lot of sugar to make it consumable. 5: Chicken Fried Steak. Ok so it’s not the same as what I’ll find in Texas. But I at the very least want it to arrive hot, and to be able to chew it. What I got looked like someone in the kitchen was in a hurry to slam the plates out the door and they didn’t seem to care what made it to the table. I was starving so I forced half of it down. But with each bite it just kept getting worse and worse… and I finally gave up. About 45 minutes after my visit to this Black Eyed Pea I was stopping at Walgreens for pepto. My stomach expressed it’s displeasure with my food choices… and when that happens… it’s pretty much a given I won’t be back. I’ve heard so many good things about the Black Eyed Pea that I looked forward to giving it a try. But in this case the only thing I left with was a bad case of indigestion and a heaping helping of disappointment. (Needless to say me and my family will not be back).

Not the best experience. The hostess insisted on seating the five of us at a tiny table(for which she had to obtain an extra chair), when we could have just as easily fit at a booth or a larger table. She was also condescending and rude when I asked why the waitstaff was bringing out extra plates before our meal. It turns out they offer amazing corn bread and dinner rolls before the meal, but the bread basket and all of the extra plates made our cramped table even more claustrophobic. The food was also sub-par. The broccoli cheese soup was terribly bland, the green beans too salty, and the fried okra needed loads of ranch dressing to be edible(and I don’t even like ranch dressing). Disappointments aside, I actually enjoyed the squash casserole, and when the waitress saw that I hadn’t eaten my soup, she asked why and immediately offered to take it off of the bill when I told her. That’s at least one win for the day.

Its black eyed pea. better then Denny’s and definitely better then Cracker Barrel. Going here you get a step above diner style southern food. Its good and it wont let you down, filling and portions are reasonable for the price. its that goto when you don’t want something to fancy but don’t want fast food either. Like a perfect in between. I’ve never had bad service at this location and they never try to rush me out when its close to closing so i give them props for that. I do enjoy their long island every time I’ve had it. People are attentive and the food in my opionion is just a bit better then chili’s next door. It is mine and my fiancée’s fail safe out to dinner spot. And the rolls are super good.

The last visit we had here was okay. I’m not a big fan of my server standing to the side or behind me while taking my order(or taking the bill with my credit card). It’s uncomfortable to strain my neck while trying to turn and see him. Anyway, the food came out decently fast. The fried mushrooms are very good and definitely worth getting. I asked the person delivering my food for a side, and it was forgotten. When our actual server finally came to check on us, he brought out the side I requested, and the side which was not brought out with the meal. We had the apple crisp dessert, which was yummy. In all, the Black Eyed Pea is not too bad when it comes to dinner… just don’t have high expectations of the food or service and you won’t be disappointed.

My goodness. we have been here before and we liked it. we came back again today and are currently feeling as if we were poisoned. We ordered off the Backyard BBQ menu. and had ribs. Not only were the ribs falling apart and completely dry. but the broccoli and the sausage had 0 taste. Literally tasted like nothing. There was no seasoning on any of the food. and no creativity. It was boring. bland and we left hungry. but no food sounds good. I think they fried everything in the same exact oil because we decided to try the fried green beans and you could not taste anything but fried bread. We watched the bartender open a new bottle of wine for us. and it tasted terrible as well. The service was extremely slow and we were sitting right at the bar. The bartender kept chatting on phone calls and ignoring us. Not going back.

I’m not sure why I like this place but I do. The service was average, but the food is simple yet satisfying(I had the pot roast). And this place must be the hip place for senior citizens go. Definitely wouldn’t take a date here but if you have a craving for your average American selection, Black Eyed Pea is a good choice.

No one was at the front to greet us as we entered. They finally seated us. Good waiter service, just not greeter service. Food is average. Vegetable plate was fresh; in fact, one had to be brought a minute later.

Another great trip to the Pea… Like I said in the past review«love this place» and not much has changed to make me rethink my love of this place. Love stopping by for lunch but I have lately started going here for for dinner replacing my trips to Chili’s. I have noticed they had started changing up the prices for their lunches but still a great value for the money. Older people love it, not a hip bar or restaurant but you can get some drinks and beers and the food is good. Great waitstaff, and I don’t think I have had a bad visit in my many years of coming to this location.

It has been a while since I have visited the Pea. They have closed quite a few locations and their portions have grown smaller over the years as this used to be a family favorite. I love the large glasses for less refilling of the drinks. The rolls are better than the cornbread because they feel that sugar belongs in cornbread, which we all know is WRONG! I have always liked the cajun catfish on rice. Their sides have definitely grown smaller in portions, but they are so go good. Love the red beans and rice, kernal corn and the spinach. The value is still there for a clean Southern food restaurant. Thinking of trying the chicken fried Monday deal tonight!

I’m saddened by the closure of a few other Black Eyed Peas. Love the southern flavor of this chain! I remember their cocktails/blended drinks being very cheap and tasty! The cornbread is something I always long for, so are the potato skins, YUM!

We were in the neighborhood looking for a place to sit and be served fast and at a reasonable price so we stopped here. They have separate senior menus and price discounts in the late afternoon. They are smaller portions but good meals that come out quicker than some sandwich shops. It is a treat to chose your own sides and you can make healthy choices if you want to. I had the salmon with a salad and broccoli. The cajun salmon was nice and came on a bed of rice. You get cornbread and rolls with the meal that seem hot out of the oven. This place is pretty affordable for what you get and is a great place to get in and out quick without the fast food feel. We had great speedy service when we were there on a Saturday around 4:00pm.

This place is just a DUMP. We went with family because it was nearby for everyone, and I was actually looking forward to it, having had a great experience at the Northglenn BEP location. So, let me just say that LOCATION matters! This location was smaller and half the tables we passed were uncleaned. The waiter brought waters, which was nice, unfortunately, there were black particles in mine. Strike One. We ordered Potato Skins as an app, and perused the menu for awhile. A LONG while. About 10 minutes later, we placed our orders. The waiter said«I’ll be right back with your mushrooms!» Great, buddy, but we ordered POTATOSKINS! He spun and ran to the kitchen without a word to US, but muttering«Uh, Oh!» About 5 minutes later, the Potato Skins arrived, and actually looked good. Unfortunately, the«Sour Cream» on the side was so liquidy, we couldn’t tell the difference between that and the ranch, and had to ask. He told us, so that was helpful. What wasn’t helpful was that the«Ranch» was actually Blue Cheese, which our unwitting guest didn’t figure out until she’d heaped it upon her Potato Skin and taken a bite. EW! Strike 2. Literally 2 minutes later, as we were about half-done with our respective potato skin appetizer, the waiter arrived back. We were hoping to get the Blue Cheese replaced, but no worries, because he had our ENTREES all ready to go. Really? REALLY? We waited 25 minutes for an appetizer, but the entrees fly out of the kitchen literally before we could get TWOBITES of the appetizer in? Oh, and the rim of my plate was filthy, all schmutzed up with yellowish goo.(I ordered pot roast and spinach. No yellow goo.) It was so filthy, I didn’t even want to eat it. Strike 3, We won’t be back.
