I absolutely love this place. The food is delicious at a cheap price. The atmosphere is warm and the customer service is great. If your looking for a nice lunch at a good price this is the place. The food takes awile but it’s always worth the wait. Word of advise if you frequent ask for the number so you can phone in order than pick it up:)

just saw this as I’m not in Denver much anymore… Mountain based baby! so listen up… This location closed months ago. The Kattes family opened a new location on Alameda in Lakewood, across the street from Green Mountain High School. It’s now called Burger Plus Green Mountain, and is located at: 13161 W Alameda Pkwy, Lakewood, CO80228. The cross street is Beech Ave. That’s west of Union about a mile or two. I copied this from another reviewer. Now I have to go see that lovely family and the incredible service they offer. Mrs. Kattes always remembers me …(.I did eat there often when I was down the street) and that she makes that kind of effort… well hello thats why they are in Biz and have a following. They care!

Unfortunately, the original owner sold to somebody else and the quality has deteriorated significantly. Still OK, but a shadow of it’s former self.

When I was a Junior and Senior in high school, we would literally come to Burgers three+ times per week for lunch. The burgers were incredible, the secret sauce was orgasmic, and the Kattes family was beyond hospitable. I haven’t been there in years, but I’ve heard that the new owners at this location have let the place slip. Too bad. Many good memories at Burgers.

This place has changed owners with the original owners starting a new Burger Plus in Green Mountain off Alameda and Beech in Lakewood. The current staff was OK but honestly didn’t really stand out and the food was only marginal. I encourage you to compare the two yourself. For me, this location is only 2 stars at best and I make the extra trek over to the new Green Mountain Location.

Well they messed up my burger order by giving me a single burger when I wanted a Double. Its a long line to order and the wait for your food seems long too. Dont go here on lunch. Though we did visit on a Saturday, the other people in my lunch group enjoyed their meal. And the burgers did look huge. I will allow them to redeem themselves. The Staff is friendly, nice semi comfortable seating. Has TV showing Politics Blechh. How about some Sports. Ohh Because I dont know this is colorado. I wasnt waiting in line again to change my order. For what its worth the burger was packed full of flavor and not overly greasy. The Onion rings are huge and dont look of the Frozen variety. And the fries were standard fries but delicious. Portions wont disappoint you.

This little spot completely exemplifies what I love about Unilocal … I would never have stopped in were it not for all of the positive reviews. The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the street; in fact I’ve passed by it dozens of times without noticing it. Though it doesn’t have the most stylish décor, it was not as grim inside as I feared it might be … in fact, it was bright and airy enough inside that it could have been an ‘80s fern bar. The menu is something else, spanning breakfast, burgers, Greek, New Mexican(though I’m not sure if that was meant to signify a Mexican menu that’s new or Southwestern-style food), etc. I would have been overwhelmed without a little guidance, but had already decided to try the gyros as so many people have recommended. It was a pretty standard gyro, but was packed with meat and served with a generous portion of steak fries, so I thought it was a great value. As someone who routinely mixes ketchup and mayo for my fries, I was rather pleased with the pre-mixed«secret sauce.» I was a little disappointed not to encounter the gracious lady with the Eastern European accent … but the young woman who took my order was pleasant enough. I’ll surely be back, maybe to try a burger next time …

This place is great! The atmosphere leaves little to be desired, but the food and ESPECIALLY the customer service has me going back again and again. The lady that is usually at the front taking orders treats everyone with a sincerity that is absent in most establishments. After being introduced to this restaurant a few years ago, I have made sure to take everyone in my family and several of my friends here to experience good food and awesome service.

I ordered a ½ lb cheeseburger, medium. It was only ok… it was dry. I can’t figured out how they made it so dry. I believe its either that 1. they pre-cook them to medium, then finish them(and therefore the reason why my burger was well done) or 2. they use a lean burger meat and cook it too long. Can’t figure out which one, but am thinking its the former. I know it was charcoal cooked. I could taste it. However, you don’t get such a dry burger unless you char it to death. And this wasn’t. It was just well done. The décor was a combo between a traditional Greek restaurant(gold and red accents, mirrors everywhere, and Greco-Roman columns) and your living room(well, maybe a Florida room for those who know what that is). Nice customer service. I just was hoping the food would have been good. I might try this place again to see if its different than my first experience. hmmmm… maybe they have different cooks? I mean the ratings are all over the place… anyone have a theory?

You ever walk up to the counter to order more, to go, while still stuffed from your meal because you liked it so much? I do! This place is the bomb! We went in looking for gyros, so the atmosphere(OPA!) was great. Very Greekish. Gold paint on the décor, faux plaster columns, pictures of Athena statues on the wall. It might have been a little odd if you were looking for Mexican food(which is on the menu) but for Greek food? perfect! And very clean too! You order at the counter, though the layout looks more like a order-at-the-table kinda place. The menu is massive(Greek, Mexican, American, etcetera) and VERY reasonably priced. For $ 8, I ordered the Gyro plate, which I assumed would be gyro, pita, tzatziki, and some lettuce or something. Yeah. It had all that. It was a giant plate with a large salad full of lettuce, tomato, green pepper, cucumbers, onions, feta, kalamatas and pepperoncini. A meal by itself. But then there were two, maybe even three pita cut into triangles and about 1/3pound of gyro meat layered over the top. So. Much. Food. Get this! It also came with fries! A lot of them! My wife ordered the Athenian Cheese Burger. ¼lbs of beef with 2 slices of gyros and ooey gooey cheese. Under $ 5!!! And not only was the atmosphere nice and the food cheap, but the people were super nice! Am I going back? Damn right I am.

I’ve been going to BPW for a good 12 – 13 years, and it has always been sort of close to my heart. When I was in high school, many years ago, we’d often make the trek to BPW for lunch(it was an interesting mixture of students from Lakewood and Wheat Ridge coming together). Back then, Mama Greek(a pseudonym believe it or not), not only knew us by name, knew our ‘regulars’, and very seldomly let us walk out the door without a complimentary ice cream cone. She continued to remember me and my friends for many years after our once or twice a week BPW visits ceased. The last few times I went to BPW I was sad to see that Mama Greek was not behind the counter. Even so, the one thing that always remains constant, regardless of who is behind the counter, is that BPW makes me feel good. All of that is the good part. Here’s the slightly less good part: my honest review of the food at BPW is that it is, generally, very average. I am fairly confident in saying that they do not home-make gyros or tzatziki. Sadly, it is particularly the Greek food which fails to really shine(to be fair I’ve never even bothered to try any Mexican dish on their menu, so I can’t comment on that). That being said, they really do make a pretty good, and relatively inexpensive burger. If I was basing my review strictly on food, I would say that a person would be better off to drive a few blocks down the road to Yianni’s. However, as I forementioned, there is something special about BPW that most restaurants simply don’t have. BPW, in a strange way, just feels like home.

I went to this little joint for lunch on a working Friday. Nice little place with a cozy faux-Greek atmosphere, ample parking in the rear, little to no parking out front. I ordered the Athenian burger(cheeseburger with two strips of gyro meat) fries and a fountain drink. The burger was WAY overcooked for my tastes, but I need to be fair and say that I did not specify«medium rare.» The fries were tasty steak fries but obviously from a bag of frozen, pre-prepared spuds. I put some of the house«secret sauce«on my burger to make it a little less dry — it’s obviously ketchup, mayo and little else. I found my experience to be fair-to-middling, if unexciting. If I return I’ll make sure to specify that I want my meal cooked a little less well done. I must say that the lady at the counter(I presume the owner) was charming and gracious. If I return it will be primarily because she is so nice.

I have been going to Burger Plus for over a decade now and I have dutifully followed ‘Burgers’ to each of their various locations over the years. I have always loved both the burgers and the gyros are the standard that I hold all gyro sandwiches to. Pretty much every meal is served with their amazingly hot steak fries and the always tasty secret sauce. The owners are some of the nicest people in the world and they always treat me like family and always asking about me and my family(all Burger Plus lovers). If there is ever that little urge for an amazing burger and the friendliest service you’ll ever find, drive to Burgers! Be sure to try the fried mushrooms and their homemade shakes/malts as they are all to die for. The baklava is also amazing.

I can’t say enough about this restaurant. It’s awesome. I had the Mushroom Swiss burger & fries, delicious. Everything fresh, huge steak fries & they have«fry sauce»(haven’t seen that in a while). My friend(who is a regular customer) got the Greek Salad… huge portion & looked tasty! Lady at the counter, simply delightful. Über friendly & so nice to our 2 four year olds… gave them little cups of ice cream free after they finished their corn dogs. Lots of choices on kids menu too. Overall great place, will be back to try a Gyro & can’t wait to take my husband!

In the neighborhood, I tried Burger Plug on the strength of its Unilocal reviews and went for the gyro combo for the same reason. Unfortunately, either things have changed, or some of my fellow Unilocalers have pretty low standards when it comes to gyros. Park in the back, walk in, and the place is an interesting mix of budget restaurant fixtures and grecko-roman decorations. Think of a ketchup dispenser on a greek column. My gyro combo came with a soft drink, steak fries, and a pita sandwich featuring gyro meat, large tomato chunks, feta, and tzatziki sauce — none of which were remarkable. The gyro was, to say the least, bland and had the texture of a recently frozen meat product; the fries were certainly frozen before being served; and the tzatziki sauce may as well have come from a jar. On the other hand, maybe the burgers are better. For some reason they also serve some Mexican food here, so at least there’s variety.

What a nice, little gem in the Lakewood area. I’ve lived down here for 2 years and now I’m kicking myself in the pants for not visiting this place sooner. Came here during the Friday lunch rush and it was busy, which I typically consider a good thing. Orders where filtering out pretty fast, so I wasn’t too worried about the wait. The owner is an extremely nice women who seems to know at least half the customers coming in(another good sign). Prices are CHEAP! Sandwiches and burgers under $ 5, gyros under $ 6. And a $ 1.59 for a side steak fries. . yes, please! She even gave me the fries for free since it was my first visit here. That deserves an extra big tip. Reuben was delicious. Thick cut pastrami and good kraut. Can’t wait to try the burgers too.

Oh this little gem of a place. You first pull up to the dingy parking lot out back that is shared with a Domino’s Pizza place, and you are underwhelmed. But then, you step inside the Greek/Burger joint that amazes you to no end. I had the gyro combo(gyro with all the fixin’s, a heaping pile of fries and a drink) all for less than $ 6. It’s crazy! And I love it. The gyro was p-e-r-f-e-c-t. Tender sliced meat, perfectly seasoned, served with delicious tzatziki sauce. They even have something called«special sauce». I think its a mixture of mayo and ketchup, but you be the judge. I didn’t have the stomach room to try the burger – although lots of people around us order the burger and it looked ginormous. So I’m sure its great too! But for me, a gyro is all I need. Don’t let the exterior scare you away – this is place to get your gyro fix!

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Just a great family restaurant run by some of the nicest people you will ever meet! A little history — Burgers Plus used to be located about ½ a mile east of where it is currently located. This was the go to place for the Lakewood High School Crowd when I was a student there(graduated 2001). One day the restaurant closed their doors leaving a generation unsure of where to eat. no more special sauce, amazing burgers, great Gyro’s or the best Tzatziki sauce in the world. No more«yes please» from the owner and no more of the familiar faces that made a point of recognizing each and every person that had ever walked in the door. They built KFC where they used to be located and Burgers Plus was no more. I was not the only one that was distraught over the loss. All of my friends at one point or another would mention the now legendary and fabled Burgers Plus and how awesome it was. The younger generation was curious but seemed to write our stories off as old fishing stories and such. they did not know the awesomeness and we all thought that they never would. A year or so later I moved my family a few miles away to Wheat Ridge Colorado. I decided to catch the casino bus that left from a hotel down the road(HoJo on 44th and Ward) and to my surprise there it was! Burgers Plus had moved into this hotel only a few miles north of their original location! I entered the restaurant and there they were, the same familiar owners, Katarina(ex Greek news anchor) and their daughter. They instantly recognized me and were happy that I found them. I thought my life had come full circle. Burgers Plus had not gone completely away, only moved a little further, and the twist of fate that brought me to them could only be chalked up to gods plan. This was awesome. I told many of the find and they did not believe it. it was just a little too far to venture and check it out. Still many were in awe and made the trip immediately. Others said they were excited but never took the time to make the pilgrimage. I, will admit that while the food was excellent as usual, much of the ambiance was missing from the Colfax eatery that got me through high school. As time passed more and more knew that it existed, it really was back, but few could make the trip as often as before. Around a year or so later I was driving down Colfax and I saw it. A beautiful Burgers Plus sign in a place I had never seen one before. I forget what I was doing but I do remember that it no longer mattered. I turned around, walked in, and had this feeling that I was home again. Here it is, it is back. In the neighborhood, similar ambiance, and those great smiling faces greeting me. I enjoyed probably the best Gyro of my life that day. I made some phone calls and everyone was ecstatic. At the time my girlfriend was a staff photojournalist for the local paper and after speaking with her I was able to get them a full page story in the Lakewood Transcript. I came in a few days after the story printed and they were packed! Needless to say I was very happy to play a part in their return to Lakewood. Burgers Plus truly is a Lakewood gem. the unassuming building gives no clue to the awesomeness that awaits inside. Incredible people, great food, and at least for me, I always see an old friend when I visit. Burgers Plus is the best!!!
