Fantastic Sams

So happy with the results! Leticia (stylist) is wonderful with my daughter’s super long hair! Had a great conversation with Leilani (stylist) ! Come in and see them! They are amazing!

I used to go to a different Fantastic Sams, but then I moved about 40 miles south, so I needed to find one closer. I came here because of the great reviews. Little did I know they offer a discount if you give them five stars on Unilocal.So I guess take all the five-​star reviews with a grain of salt. They’re most likely bought and paid for.
This was not my most positive experience. I went in for a color and cut. I was worried about them getting the color right since I wasn’t able to get my chemical card/​information from the previous Fantastic Sams, but I had a decent memory and we were able to figure it out. But I was concerned about their competence when the woman asked me if I bleached my hair before the color. Not even close.
The stylist who did my color was okay. She was very thorough and got the color everywhere, but she didn’t introduce herself to me or speak to me at all. She also set a broken timer so she ended up leaving the color in my hair for almost 50 minutes. I ended up with dark purple hair instead of the bright red I’m used to and went in there to get. Sigh.
I then asked to have an inch cut, and she cut at least two. I specified that I didn’t want layers (my hair is too thin for it) and she layered «bangs» in the front much shorter than the rest of my hair. I haven’t had bangs since middle school. Now it doesn’t all pull back into a ponytail. The hair in front just falls out, defeating the whole purpose of putting it up in a pony. It was pretty disappointing since I’m trying to grow out my hair and I only wanted the length evened out, not shortened.
She then offered to blow dry my hair. I said sure, because at my other FS, my stylist would partially dry my hair to reveal the color at no extra cost. She asked if I wanted a full blow dry or just to take the moisture out. I had the sense to ask her if that would cost money, and she said yes, so I said no thank you. She just put the blow dryer away without another word. If you’re going to offer a service, you might want to mention that it’s not complimentary. Upsell all you want, but maybe try and disclose to your customer what it will cost.
Then when I went to check out, I showed them my phone. They offer a 10% discount for a haircut/​wash if you check in on Unilocal,which I did. She almost didn’t take it because «we require them to be printed out.» How can you print out a digital offer for a Unilocal check in? To their credit, they did give me the 10% off the hair cut, but I’m honestly not sure that did much good.
When they rung me up, it was nearly 20 dollars more than I usually pay at the other Fantastic Sams. When I pointed this out to them, they asked how much I normally pay. Then they insisted that they’re «not just making up prices,» and proceeded to show me their price book with all the numbers listed. That’s all fine and dandy, but it’s probably worth it for me to drive the forty miles to my old Fantastic Sam’s where I pay about $ 65 for a color/​cut (including tip) instead of the near $ 85 I paid here.
They also have a huge sign out front that says they have a Monday/​Wednesday special for $ 40 color, so I asked about that. They told me that this is only the price for doing the roots, not a full color. She said that’s only the price if you come in and get a touch up soon after getting a full color from them. What? Then why would you advertise out on the street like that? If it’s only applicable to returning customers for touch-​ups, don’t advertise it to new ones like it’s an option. Yikes. Not to mention, $ 40 for a touch-​up isn’t exactly a fantastic deal.
Listen, the place isn’t awful. I’m sure a lot of people come here and have a great experience. They seem to have regulars, and the regulars seem to be happy. But for me, I won’t be coming back. I’m embarrassed with the color of my hair, I’m weeping over how much it cost, and I’m frustrated with how long I’m going to have to walk around with bangs hanging out of my ponytail because my hair no longer reaches into one. Proceed with caution.

I’m pretty sure the lady who cut my daughters hair earlier this week was drunk when she did it, there is no other explanation for it. My mom took my 3 year old in for just a trim. Her hair was finally just past her shoulders, and she came out with it above her chin! Not only that, it’s all uneven and jagged. I have honestly never seen anything like that. She even had the nerve to tell my mom to just trim the long pieces when she got home. Isn’t that what she was paid to do?! I wanted to bring her back to complain, but my mom said not to bother because she didn’t want them to touch it again anyway. Please go here at your own risk!

Had a great experience, came in for a trim and had Gigi as a hairdresser. Will definitely come back.

Just LOVED Leticia! I came in off the street and luckily at the beginning of a wave of people. I just needed my really short haircut trimmed a little. I admit I was probably the most annoying customer she ever had but I’ve been trying to get the style right for months. She was so kind, patient and gentle. I could tell right away she was a pro! She knew exactly what to do. She put up with me saying no to everything she managed to give me the BEST service EVER and she laughed with me the whole time! Totally going back to her over and over again!

Went in for a cut just because I had the time and was waaaay over due… Mika was the stylist that helped me out. She duplicated the look I wanted from a picture perfectly! She was also very fast and paid great attention to detail. Ask for Mika she’s great!

I came in today to get a haircut and I left looking great!
I usually always get the same kind of haircut– a simple buzzcut that leaves my head somewhat shaved, but considering I’ve been doing the same hairstyle for the last few years, I had decided to change things up a bit.
I decided to go with the caesar haircut and have been purposely growing my hair out for the last month, so that when I went to get it cut, I could achieve this style.
I was a little apprehensive in choosing a salon. I have a wedding to attend coming up, plus with Valentine’s Day being a week away, I was wondering where to go. I looked around Unilocal for advice. I came across this Fantastic Sam’s and saw the reviews were mostly good. So, I took a chance and stopped by.
I’m really glad I did! I sat down, and told the stylist what I wanted, showed her a picture on my phone, and she got started. The stylist’s name is Leticia, and she did a fantastic job. She was gentle with the cutting and the snipping, which is great. I felt really relaxed sitting in that chair. After she was done, she offered to shampoo my hair, which was great since I didn’t want loose hair falling out all evening. After she put the styling gel in my hair, it came out looking even better.
I’m really glad I took the chance and came here. I look great and now I’m ready for Valentine’s Day dinner. I am planning on coming back in the future.

They are great and have always cut my hair exactly how i wanted it… i love Gigi and all the other stylist’s here… i even bring my granddaughters… i have never had a bad cut in the 2yrs I have been coming. plus they make you feel very comfortable while styling your hair… make you feel like family…

I went to get my hair cut from Krystal as usual and was informed (rudely) that she was no longer with the company. We took our chances and when the women was asking my sister what she wanted my sister was not sure. We were explaining what a Fauhaux was to my sister and the lady snapped at is stating «I know what a Fauhaux is». We heard multiple people call and walk in and inquire about where Krystal was and all got a rude response. I understand people move on from places of work, but customer service went right out the window. If anyone knows where I can find Krystal I would love to be her customer again along with everyone else in my house. We will not be back to the Downey fantastic Sam’s.

I went here on a whim with my mom and this lady leani or something like that totally butchered my hair. I asked for a specific style and length and she went beyond shorter than what i wanted.

I saw Mika at the salon over the weekend, showed her a photo and she was able to duplicate it perfectly! Its great to find someone you can trust to do a great job!

Came in for a quick trim and thinning, but my indecisive self wanted to finally do the balayage I’ve always been wanting to do. Mika helped me out and was amazing she listened to everything I asked for and she delivered. It came out so beautiful and natural how I wanted it :) other staff was also helpful I was the only one in there and they made me feel extra special.

Went in for a last minute hair right at closing and the hairdresser did amazing job and took her time and I love love my hair its is really hard to find some who can cut a a line bob. Especially me being a hairdresser myself I’m very very picky. Well I finally found my girl. Thank you Catalina … Your the best.

Instead of going to his house for a cut like I have done for years, I went to Dylan’s chair at Fantabulous Sam. He buzzed my hair and Dylan did an amazing job! However, while I was still there his boss called in to inquire about why I was only charged 10 $. He was no longer working there within a week… Apparently his hours were all cut after an argument with the owner about it. HE BROUGHT ME THERE! NEVER AGAIN!

Very friendly, came in with my daughter to get her hair done for senior pictures and they were really nice. Salon is clean and organized. We will be back in the future. We are happy with the service we received. The price range is about the same as any other salon in the area, and you don’t need an appointment.

Mediocre at best. Sorry Fantastic Sams, I thought I’d have a better experience than I did. The staff was very nice but my hair was butchered. After I left the salon and straightened my hair it was uneven, choppy and lopsided. To top it off, after I got my hair shampooed the lady didn’t dry my hair adequately enough and my shirt became soaked THROUGH THE COVER they put on you. I overpaid. Plus the lady cutting my hair reeked of cigarette smoke and was sniffling and blowing her nose and rubbing it. Gross. You’re touching my hair and around my face, I could get sick.
I ended up going to another salon to get my hair fixed. Not going back to Fantastic Sams. I’m sure they meant well but it wasn’t a good experience for me.

I took my daughter in for a haircut and to add bangs. The haircut was decent and straight.
But the bangs… They look horrible we said above the eyebrows not an inch above the eyebrows!!! And I was reading online and bangs are recommended to be cut dry not wet so the don’t get cut to short. Well she wet my daughters and there super short… !! Not only were they short… They were completely crooked. And I asked her to straighten them out and they just kept getting shorter and shorter…
Definitely won’t be back here ever again.!!
So now there to short for her to get them fixed any where else. Now we will have to wait til they grow out. Definitely not satisfied. :(
