Hampden Dental Care – Dr David Edlund

About three years ago, I arrived at this practice by accident, as there are different Hampden dental office type names and since I was way late for my other appt., I let them clean my teeth. Dr. Edlund said they would do it for a certain amount and then the front desk gal charged me more when it was done and would not do anything to resolve the discrepancy in what I was told.
Overall, this dentist overwhelmed me so much with his diagnosis of the state of my fillings, that I went into denial and put off doing anything further for my teeth, as I have dental care anxiety resulting from a severe TMJ injury (not dental related), plus not being able to keep my mouth open comfortably for every long.
What he said was that the fillings in my mouth were so poorly done (by Comfort Dental in the past) that they were coming out, etc. and I should either let them fix them or go back to the dentist who did them and have him correct them…(like I would after being told that…)
Finally, I get the guts to go to a new dentist recently and they told me my fillings have gotten old and I needed a crown in the near future, but nothing was as bad as Dr. Edlund had indicated three years earlier. They said they had seen better and seen worse, but my fillings had been okay, just reached the end of their life. They said the other problems could wait a bit and nothing was a severe emergency.
So this kind of patient care and handling is just harmful and I believe this practice was trying to just get money out of me really fast. On top of it, they kept calling me for months and bothering me to make an appt. and sending me things in the mail. I was so bothered by the overcharging and then the bad news about my teeth that I could not even answer the phone.
As well, the dental hygienist at another practice, who today, took a lot of quality time to clean my teeth, said she found tartar that looked like it had been there for a really long time just beneath my gums. I remember thinking that the cleaning I got from Hampden Dental Care didn’t take that long either. So not impressed with that either, looking back.
