If there was any way possible to give Kergaard Cleaners less than one star, I would do it. My recent experience there has probably been the absolute worst customer service experience I’ve ever encountered, and I’m easy-going enough that it takes A LOT for me to write a review like this. On June 13, 2015 I dropped off two 84″ long curtain panels that I had purchased from Crate & Barrel about a year and a half ago. They had never been cleaned and I decided that while my boyfriend and I were renovating our condo, it would be the perfect time to drop them off. Upon a recommendation from my mother, I decided to go with Kergaard. The woman working at the counter(an older blonde lady) informed me that I could pick my curtains up in one week. Exactly one week later, on June 20, 2015 I returned. The same woman then informed me that they were not done, and to come back in another week. At this point, I was not in a big rush, since I wouldn’t be able to hang them up immediately anyways. A few weeks later, after July 4, my boyfriend picked the curtains up and paid the approximately $ 30 dry cleaning fee. As we were still remodeling, I did not hang the curtains until this past weekend. On Saturday, August 1, I hung them up and realized they had shrunk quite a bit. After measuring them, we realized that my 84″ curtains were now 77″ inches long. A grand total of 7 inches, just gone. I immediately called the cleaners to let them know what happened and I got an answering machine. I left a message and asked them to return my call. They never did. On Monday, August 3, I took the curtains to the cleaners so that I could show them the damage and talk to them in person. Again, the older blonde woman behind the counter informed me that the damage was not their problem and curtains do shrink. From what I understand, an inch or so is standard and will eventually stretch out as the fabric hangs. But in my mind, 7 inches is unacceptable and my property has been ruined. I showed the woman the listing on the Crate & Barrel website and told her that it was their responsibility to replace what they had destroyed. She absolutely refused to negotiate and I walked out in tears, because my nearly $ 200 curtains were ruined. I currently have a complaint filed with the Better Business Bureau, but I would like to highly recommend people do NOT entrust these cleaners with anything they feel is valuable, delicate or expensive. I see that other reviewers have not had this type of experience with this business, but I also wonder how many other people not on Unilocal have been burned by this company. My advice is to beware, and take your dry-clean only items elsewhere.

I brought my(extremely delicate) wedding gown to Kergaard on the recommendation of Miranda from Miranda’s Vintage Bridal. Since I had re-sold the dress, I wanted the best possible treatment for it. With Miranda’s endorsement, I was happy to schlep across town for the best in dry cleaning expertise! Though the turn-around was a little sluggish on account of the specialty nature of the item, Kergaard did an absolutely immaculate job on the dress. The gauzy, ethereal tulle of the bodice and skirt was spotless and pristine throughout! I was so happy to pass the dress along to its new owner in perfect condition. In the future, I will look forward to coming back to Kergaard with more everyday items!

Admittedly, this place doesn’t look like much at first glance — raggedy awning and tiny storefront in a pretty old building. But please don’t let that scare you off. This the friendliest, best dry cleaner I’ve ever done business with. I’ve taken things in twice so far. The first time was a beloved silk dress that had gotten some stains on it during a possibly drunk walk through the woods a couple of years back. Um… anyway, I’ve had it cleaned a couple of times since then and nobody had been able to make much headway on the spots. I told the folks at Kergaard about them and they said they’d try. Try they did — they cleaned it twice trying to get them out and the stains are now almost unrecognizable. I can still find them but nobody else would ever notice them. Almost good as new! Then last night we realized one of Sean’s suits needed to be pressed for a wedding that we were leaving town for at 11:30am. Yikes what do we do? Kergaard to the rescue! I called as soon as they opened and asked if there was any way that I could have the suit pressed within a couple of hours and he said he could help. I brought it in at 7:15 and he had it ready by 10:30. I offered to pay extra but the guy wouldn’t hear it. Less than 25 bucks for three pieces pressed and ready to go within 3 hours? That’s great service of you ask me. Also, even before I started taking stuff here, we always noticed there were people dropping stuff off getting out of REALLY nice cars. Good sign for me. These are the type of people who dry clean everything they own so if they’re trusting Kergaard, so am I. The people that work here are so friendly and kind, I just love to support a place like that especially in my own town. Take your dry cleaning here. You’ll have a good experience.
