Just got home with my king pao«chicken» and there are less than 10 tiny slivers of chicken in the whole thing. Portions are tiny., all carrots and celery.

Probably one of the best Thai places in town, just based on food alone. Tiny hole-on-the-wall place, with like 8 tables total. It fills up quickly, so if you’re starving and walk in to a full dining room, you’re going to have to go elsewhere. The staff seems to be just one older Thai gentleman and a couple of cooks in the back. All are pleasant, polite, professional, and just all around courteous. The food is SO good. SOGOOD. Seriously, awesome. Tasty, fresh, warming, filling, a bit unique, and just perfectly seasoned every single dish, every single time. Good portions, tasty food, good staff. The tiny dining room and hidden-away location in Lakewood are the only drawbacks, but nowhere near enough to deduct stars in the rating by any means.

The Pad Thai was good but just a bit heavy on the fish sauce. The chicken was good but I owuld have liked to have seen a bit more.

We love this place the prices are a great deal and the owner is so nice. We came from california which has a lot of thai food to choose from and although I was skeptical at first I now love this place. We order chicken pad thai and pineapple fried rice both are great. The noodle is a thinner noodle, which I wasn’t used to at first but now I love it. I tried the tom kha once and I wasn’t a big fan but it’s not that bad. The pad see ew is great as well. We come here at least once a month so much better then bangcock thai even though it has more reviews.

There’s about seven tables in this place. It’s not big at all. It’s a hole in the wall. Talk about a small place. The divider between the kitchen and the dining area was the back of the refrigerator. I had high hopes since it’s so highly rated on Unilocal. We ordered several dishes. Most of them are in the $ 7-$ 8. Amongst all the dishes the two dishes that I think is passable was the fried chicken and the worst looking Padthai I’ve ever seen. It was presented in such a way that it was just not edible looking. The Sprouts came with the roots still attached to it. I’ve never been served one that way. It’s unacceptable to me. Although we agree that the Padthai was very tasty. I don’t mind the décor or the hole in the wall description but that Sprouts was just not good.

Not horrible but we definitely won’t return. Every dish our party ordered was sub par and strange variations on traditional dishes. The bean sprouts in the spring rolls were brown and the rolls were cut into pieces.

We ordered soups, stir fried basil, pork larb salad and papaya salad. Portions are ridiculously small. Nothing was good. The sauces were bland. There was very little chicken in the stir fried basil(less than ¼ of a cup). The larb salad amounted to less than a cup of food. Small portions are fine when the quality of the food is superb; sorry Star Thai, but your food is far below average. I will never eat here again.

I’ve always liked their pad Thai, but the last few times have been very disappointing. This last time, the dish mainly consisted of bean sprouts. It is supposed to have chicken and shrimp, but there couldn’t have been more than 7 small pieces of chicken and zero, shrimp. Really disappointing.

I have eaten here in person and also done take out. Food is excellent, one of the best Thai restaurants in the area. Prices are good. I took off a star for ambiance. The dining area is small, with tables crowded in, and could use a good scrubbing which makes me worry about the cleanliness of the kitchen. However when the delicious food comes out those fears quickly dissipate. Curries are great and don’t pass up on the mango with sticky rice for dessert if available.

Ordered: — A1) Tom Yum Soup w/Shrimp — A5) Fresh Spring Rolls(2 rolls/order) — A8) Cheese Wontons(6 pieces/order) — S3) Prik Pow Noodles w/Chicken & Shrimp(Lunch Size) — 2 orders of the Thai Iced Tea —- Total was ~ $ 25 **You are able to chose your spice level, from mild, medium, hot, or Thai hot for the soups and entrees. We chose hot and it was perfect. *Tom Yum soup was very tasty and tasted like authentic tom yum soup. You are able to choose your choice of meat, I chose shrimp which was an extra $ 1. That included 3 medium sized shrimps. Would order it again. Perfect soup for a hangover or cold. :) *Fresh Spring Rolls were meh… It included tofu, cucumber, carrots, cabbage, and bean sprouts. No meat. 2 rolls per order for $ 3.75. They use a different type of rice paper than the traditional Vietnamese spring rolls. It’s much thicker, maybe it’s a kind of Thai rice paper, not sure. But, it was quite soggy from the veggies. It was served with their homemade Star Thai sauce which gave the rolls a bit of a flavor, but it was not pairing up with my taste buds. I’ll pass on the spring rolls next time. *Cheese wontons were not too good. The main complaint here is the kind of skin that they use which cause the wontons to be quite hard. Too hard to comfortably chew. They need to change the kind of wonton wrappers that they use. Very little cheese inside. Now it’s $ 3.95 for 6 pieces which isn’t a bad price but they were way too hard. Cheese wontons are a hit or miss at different restaurants. I’ll pass on the wonton next time. *Prik Pow Noodles consist of stir fried wide rice noodles cooked with fried chili paste, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, onions, bell peppers, basil leaves, and cashew nuts. This dish was alright. We chose to add chicken and shrimp into it. It wasn’t bad but it’s nothing to really be excited about, maybe because I have had a dish very similar many times before. The flavor was good, and good size for lunch. Wouldn’t really be the next entrée I would order again. *Thai ice tea was good. Very strong flavor which is probably why they added lots of milk/half&half. Comes in a 16oz. Cup for $ 1.50. *** All in all, each place is a hit or miss with each item that they have, so it’s to each their own. There’s good and bad everywhere. This place is a nice, little family owned Thai spot in a quiet small shopping center in Lakewood. The owner/employees are very friendly. They have free delivery, togo orders, and dine in which consists for room of less than 10 tables. They also have a few Chinese food items. Would be back for the tom yum soup and Thai tea and to try their other Thai dishes. :) Gotta stop in and try if you’re craving Thai food.

I eat here ALOT. THEMOSTAMAZINGTHAIFOODINTHEAREA! don’t waste your money on any other Thai or Chinese Restaurant in the area. Star Thai has quality authentic food. My favorite pair is there most amazing Pad Thai with there delicious Pineapple Curry. Pineapple Curry is the most amazing curry I’ve ever had the pleasure to eat. Sweet and spicy(if you like spice if not get mild). Seseme chicken is wonderful. Spring Rolls for an app are my fav. I love star Thai! moved out of the area now I have to purchase in bulk…

The food is great and cheap but the portions are small here. I can probably eat 2 dishes of pad thai pretty easily on a moderately hungry day but the prices for each dish is so cheap you can go ahead and order 2 of whatever you want and be ok here. The spiciness level is very reasonable and appropriate for what you’d expect unlike some other thai places in town where a medium spicy dish is equivalent to taste bud suicide.

Star Thai is the epitome of a «local, hole in wall.» I travel the country and eat out a lot, and this is the type of place I look for; non-chain, local, etc. It did not let me down. With only 7 tables and a short wait at 6:00 on a Tuesday, it was evident that many locals know of the place as well. Take out service was also very evident. I had the Kang Dang(red curry) and chicken satay. Excellent; great flavor. I asked for«spicy» and it was infused in the dish, not simply sprinkled on as an afterthought. The chicken could have been a little meatier and the rice was ever so slightly clumped, but for the price, all is forgiven. In fact, I was enjoyed the service and flavor enough that I tipped $ 9 on a $ 13 bill. I read some reviews on Unilocal which spoke of smaller portions or slower service. They missed the picture that the portions were appropriate for the price and a great deal, given the quality. I watched other plates and items being served and they were of appropriate size and many were shared amongst the tables’ diners. And, as for the service, I can’t imagine any restaurant, anywhere, that has a harder worker than the gentleman who served me. He was likely the owner and I heard a woman in the kitchen cooking each fresh plate as quickly as feasible. Every meal served during my stay was quick, efficient, fresh, and hot. Don’t go for the ambience, it isn’t there. Go for the vision of the quintessential American dream of a family run, non-chain, entrepreneurial spirit in action. Go for the food.

This is the classic family owned restaurant you are always on the hunt for for a great meal. Don’t let the humble façade fool you James(the owner and operator) gives a very personal touch and is quick to remember you if you are a regular. The food is delicious and has a unique flavor and style compared to most other Thai restaurants that I have been to. Try their Prick Prow Noodles and get some Black Rice Pudding for dessert. Fair warning, you may be there a lot after you try it. Some of my coworkers have been known to pick up lunch, then dinner, then something for the following day as well! Other excellent choices: Country Pad Thai Star Thai Noodles Spicy Fried Rice Sticky Rice

I can comprehend why some reviewers have mentioned the portion size is small. Though the size of the dish is not an issue with us. We’re not heavy eaters. We ordered fresh spring rolls, crispy fried egg rolls, and Massamen curry(dinner size). Fresh spring rolls tasted very different from Vietnamese style but still very good! Also curry was delicious! The service was pretty decent and restaurant was clean and neat, even though the décor is not charming. We have no complaints. Especially for the price! Good food, nice price!

My friends and I go here all the time, James is very accommodating and friendly! It’s a nice hole in the wall and we usually go at off hours so we can shout at each other. Also when you’re the only one in there your drinks get filled quicker and the food gets made faster. My favorites are the pad thai medium, the panag hot, star thai noodles and the eggplant. I always say I’ll branch out and get different stuff but I never do! Thai Hot here is pretty damn hot… I wouldn’t recommend it unless you like your food swimming in peppers and love punishing yourself. The portions are right and the prices are fair. I feel the pad thai here is one of the best in Denver, because it has the right amount of sweet and spice, with noodles that aren’t dry, and good portions of meat. The only thing I don’t like is the amount of bean sprouts that are piled on top. You can usually grab a fistful off the top and still have ones you won’t eat. Go here!

It’s interesting how this place seems to get either 5 star or 1 star reviews. That’s why I’m giving it a 3. I went for lunch and had their Pad Thai special, and found it to be small, stripped down and nothing special. That said, it had some basic flavor and heat, plus was around $ 6. In short, it wasn’t bad and I’ll go there again as a lunch worker looking for some wallet-friendly eats. But I’m not sure if I’d go there for a special meal.
