This was such a great find for a long walk with my pup. Not sure how long it was but it took my dog and I about 30 minutes to make a full trip around once, at a leisurely pace. About ½ the trail is paved and half is more gravel/dirt. There are wide open spaces as well as a side with tree coverage and shade. Lots of people there walking dogs, running, or fishing along the side of the reservoir. It’s a very pretty area, a lot of different kinds of birds flying around or swimming. Also, love being around the water because I tend to feel a little land locked in Colorado. We will definitely be back, especially when I want my dog to have some time outside without having to go on a long drive to a hiking area.

I absolutely love the main reservoir. It’s only about 1.5 miles around so it’s not a huge body of water, but there’s so much there. People are almost always fishing, walking their dogs, jogging, cycling or just sitting on one of the many benches placed near the path. The view is beautiful and it’s half tree shaded and half open sky so it’s certainly not boring. The bird life is amazing as well. No only do you get your common geese, ducks and seagulls, but you’ll also see some white cranes on occasion as well as pelicans and some other water fowl. I think they must stop and visit while migrating. If you’re not lucky enough to live within walking distance like me there’s a private parking lot and when you’re finished walking or biking you can sit on the dock or at a picnic table to enjoy some more sun and fresh air before you leave.
