Fantastic place! Good selection of authentic recipes that are done properly. The owner,(manager?) hails from Louisiana and knows the cuisine, no doubt about it. The prices could be just slightly lower and the atmosphere could be a little nicer, but lack of those things is not going to keep me away from the delicious food and warm reception. You can really tell they put their hearts into the place. So while it isn’t as fancy as the Creole, I’d come here first. No coin toss needed. I’m teetering on 4 ½, but I’m going with 5 in their favor because I really value the place!

I picked the hottest day of the year to have the Chicken Piquante. Spicy. Excellent! I also had the jumbeaux balls appetizer. I liked that you could order 1 or 2 or 3… It could be an appetizer for one or two people vs a meal for one and an appetizer for four.

Jumbeaux is such a gem in the Lansing area– we were here recently and found the service to be impeccable. The chef is so friendly and food delicious. The hubby had the Jumbeaux plate and I had the gumbo and we both really liked it! It was flavorful and total comfort food. We’re so happy to have found this place and can’t wait to be back.

Just ate here yesterday for the first time and was impressed. The portions were huge and the food was delicious. My husband had the Jumbeaux, the house specialty, and I kept eating off his plate. I had the catfish with collard greens. Our waiter brought me some extra sauces for the fish which really brightened it up. Loved the greens, but warning, they are spicy. We will be back!

This place is incredible! The interior design and the staff make it a great place to be. Our food was amazing, we loved the fried catfish and okra. I highly recommend this place if you want good southern food and sweet tea!

Food was good and unique in Lansing but way over priced for a lunch option. May be better pricing for dinner but for the amount of food you get it was very expensive for lunch.

I have been several times now. If you haven’t been since fall of 2015, go back and try again. There’s a new sheriff in the kitchen and he is KILLING it. I don’t normally order appetizers, but I almost always get a Jumbeaux ball. I keep trying different entrees and haven’t had a miss yet(since the new chef took over). I think my favorite is the Crawfish Etoufee. Some dishes come with sides — the sides are so good — love the fried okra and the carrot soufle, I’ve heard that the red beans and rice are delicious, too. Keep in mind, this is a SMALL establishment. I think there’s one man cooking and one man serving, bussing, taking money, etc. If they get busy things might get a little bit slow. I have never had bad service though, and never anything particularly slow. They run out of things from time to time. This is a sign that they’re cooking from scratch — I consider it a good thing. I just went there for lunch today and wish I was going back right now.

Absolutely Fantastic! I had the Fried Catfish with collard greens and red beans & rice and everything was perfectly seasoned! They definitely gained a regular customer today! The service was great… it was really busy but the waiter handled it well! Can’t wait to go back!

First of all, the concept of a southern style restaurant in Lansing is phenomenal. The menu is diversified and has authentic options for those seeking southern eateries. The Jambalaya I had was nothing short of flavorful with the spices, but I get the impression some of the ingredients were canned. The owner was born and raised in Louisiana and was very hospitable though, which made the trip worthwhile all in all.

I was hoping for a home run… unfortunately I was let down. The food was good just not great! I have eaten Cajun and creole food most of my life and loooove it. so I was pretty geeked to eat at lansing new Cajun spot. ordered food for lunch via the phone picked it up less than 10 minutes after that and the food was not looking fresh and totally wasn’t hot! I feel for the price the portion size was lacking as was the presentation. I’d go again to make sure it wasn’t an off day. but first visit gets 3 stars and that’s because I love the idea of a Cajun spot in town

Fantastic! Had the Shrimp Gumbo which was the perfect amount of spicy. The gator is also very good but you might want to call ahead to make sure it’s available. There’s not a whole lot of seating so I would make sure to get there before noon for lunch.

The prices are reasonable and the portions are generous. The shrimp po boy is very good and the crawfish ettoufee is very middle-of-the-road; I tend to prefer a creamier sauce on mine. I enjoy the seasoned toast that comes with the ettoufee and the homemade seasoned chips that come with the po boy. The ambiance is very meh, but the wait staff are friendly and attentive.

Amending my previous review. They have really improved since first opening. The flavors are very authentic, the food seasoned well and the portions are perfect. This is very very close to authentic Cajun food and definitely the best in the area! The location and décor are still lacking and I would love to see a bigger menu but this has become one of our favorite restaurants in the Lansing area. Also, the Jumbeaux balls are to die for!

Went for lunch around 12:30. Erica(I think) the waitress and host was very nice. I ordered the smothered chicken with cabbage as my side and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time. I never felt rushed. I look forward to eating here again soon.

Super yummy and the staff is so friendly and helpful! The fried okra is amazing! They kept the décor simple which makes the places look clean and open. You can order to go and they’re working on outdoor seating which is great since it’s a small venue. I hope they do well!
