What a pleasant surprise this was! There were only a few rooms available so we got a non smoking king room. The gentleman at the check in was super friendly and interested in our trip(and our cat!). I was a little sketched out about leaving our UHaul and towed car out in the lot because I didn’t know much about the neighborhood and it was all pretty dark at 8pm, but that could just be my own paranoia. The room looked like it must have been recently redone. Nice«hardwood» floor, flat screen TV, brand new vanity area, and tub with a showerhead with several settings. We took nice hot showers and collapsed for the night in a big comfy bed. This morning when we were leaving, we started our truck and went back inside to wait for a few minutes. The gentleman at the desk asked if we needed our key back and we told him no, we are just waiting for our truck to warm up, and he pointed out that the coffee just finished brewing, and chatted about our trip. Overall a great experience. A couple things could have made this a 5-star review; the room was kind of chilly(drafty window) and the heater makes a loud whirring noise(We were honestly so tired it didn’t bother us but it would have kept me awake otherwise), the hall in the non smoking area smelled like cigarettes, and at one point I went out to our car and found the back entrance to the motel(which normally requires key access) was propped open with some towels, which didn’t feel very secure to me.

Motel 6 is basic in general but this one right here is a gem. Its in a surbarb, its clean, it has hard wood floors, and a flat screen. Its spacious too. I have never been to a motel as nice as this for the price.

We stay at Motel 6’s from time to time and generally never have any issues. It’s cheap and basic, and if you are not spending much time in the room, you don’t need much more. We also saw that this motel had recently gone through some room renovations, so that would be a plus. Check in was a breeze and the staff was polite. However, once we walked into the room, we noticed that the room stank of smoke that was very overwhelming. We had booked a non-smoking room, and the cleaning staff should have noticed the stench. We also booked the King Suite, which was renovated, but the work appeared half fast. Although the room was big the layout was very poor which a couch that has seen much better days and the room itself had a dirty feeling to it. We checked out after one night when we were booked for three. In speaking with locals, the hotels in Lansing have a bad reputation. You are better off booking something in Hammond.
