Absolutely incredible breakfast! My wife and I both got the migas made to order and we shared a side of the green chile. I recommend the tortilla and beans on the side, but it’ll be awesome however you have it made. Also, don’t miss out on their specialty coffee. The cinnamon pecan is a grand way to start your morning. Lastly, if you have a choice in the matter, ask to sit in Shane’s section. It was our first time here as part of a cross country trip and he was pleasant, expedient, and thoughtful about helping us through menu options. Well done!!!

Consistently excellent food and excellent service. I’ve eaten here a ton of times and it’s always, always excellent.(I’m hooked on the Breakfast Enchiladas, but everything I’ve ever tried is top-notch.) Thank you!

Love this place and the friendly people who work at the Shed. My wife and I who spent 20 years in Albuquerque now live in Mazatlan about half the year and when exiting or returning we usually spend a week or 2 in the Las Cruces area. We love the Rio Grande Theater and the Downtown growers market. We’ve enjoyed events at the wineries and always check to see if Tiffany Christopher is making music somewhere close… and we always look forward to a meal or 2 or??? at the Shed. Their New Mexican cuisine is spot on and the bredth of their menu adds an atristic slant to this quirky comfortable ‘joint’. If you find yourself anywhere near Las Cruces stop in… you’ll be glad you did.

Small, very quaint; you’ll miss it if you’re not looking. My husband and I both had a brisket breakfast burrito, that thing is massive! I was impressed with the fresh fruit in the side order– pears, berries, pineapple, strawberries… I can’t say much for the décor, but the food is worth the stop.

The Shed is THE place to get breakfast in Las Cruces. Nothing else in the city even comes close. Though I wish they had more regular business hours, I love them so. I’ve tried quite a few breakfast entrees there, and everything has been amazing. I love that they make their own bread, which means the french toast is divine and you’ll want to lick the plate clean. I even took my out-of-state parents here on a visit, and they wanted to bring The Shed back with them it was so good. I hope they never change, because they are amazing.

This place is O-mazing! Started out with the delicious pecan coffee… I’ve never had coffee from a restaurant that was that good. I ordered the gingerbread pancakes; I’m not going to lie, they were a little bit big, but they were again absolutely amazing, just the right amount of gingerbread without being too overpowering. I also had the blue corn enchiladas with brisket with red and green chili(Christmas style) very very good! Overall, an amazing experience! So glad that I got an opportunity to eat here! The tables on the high tops were a little small, but I would not care if they would tell me to go stand in the corner; I would still go there for food it is that great! Don’t miss this one when you’re in Las Cruces!

Terrible service. We barely saw our waitress and our food took over 40 minutes to get to us. They definitely weren’t short staffed because it seemed like there were more employees than customers. Food was alright, nothing special, bland. Honestly I would’ve much rather spent my money at a place that cared more about their customer service.

Every time I come here alone, I have amazing service and no problems. Whenever I bring a friend to show it off, our server forgets us or doesn’t show as much attention to the table. The food is great though; and usually when I’m alone I already know what I want to eat so I make it really easy on the staff. Recently discovered a drive through window on the side… how does that work? Haven’t tried, but might if I really was in a hurry.

Wait time estimate on a Sunday morning at 20 minutes, which turned out to be right on. Parking was a little challenging, but we got lucky. Coffee was great; not strong and bitter like French roast. Unfortunately, no one ever offered to refill the coffee. Kitchen took a long time to get the food out(over 20 minutes). Quiche was large and good. Plain old breakfast was mediocre. Bacon was crispy. Toast was excellent. Eggs and potatoes were dry. Eggs Benedict was cold and one egg yolk was already broken. All in all, probably a good place for Las Cruces if you keep your big city expectations low.

I have had breakfast a couple of times there and it was god, until last time when I was scolded by the manager for not knowing the menu when I asked why my plate was missing sausage or bacon. In a rude manner she said I should have specifically asked my server for either sausage or bacon, however the menu tells you it comes with one option; also server never came to refill coffee, forgot about bringing a mimosa until I reminded her, dry enchiladas(if you can call them that).

Excellent brunch spot. Came on a Saturday so it was pretty busy, but well worth the wait. I ordered the breakfast burrito with chorizo and smothered with red and green chile. My wife had the eggs benedict with green chile hollandaise, recommended by our waitress. Both were excellent. Coffee was average, while everything else was great. We’ll be back for sure.

Found this gem in Las Cruces while heading home from TX. Couldn’t decide what to have for breakfast so I asked the waitress for a recommendation and she suggested the Eggs Benedict and it was outstanding! I chose my Eggs Benedict w/brisket and bacon smothered in the most amazing green chile hollandaise sauce! YUM!

Outstanding breakfast at the Shed. This was our first visit to the Shed but it won’t be our last. Breakfast was fantastic but the service was superb. Juanita was our waitress and she was extremely hospitable welcoming us to Las Cruces. She even suggested the Cheddar cheese toast which was sublime! Definitely will be making this place a regular joint for me and the hubs!

First of all, I LOVE brunch. It’s my favorite meal of the day. So of course I had to find a brunch place in Las Cruces. The Old Mesilla Pastry Café, better known as the Shed, is a local favorite. I want to say at least five people gave the Shed a shoutout when I asked what I cannot miss while in town. So on my last morning, that’s where I went to get my brunch on. I take brunch so seriously that I was there right at 7:30am when they open. I had a mini panic attack when I saw the large closed signs were still up outside. The shock was just wearing off when two ladies took down both signs, a signal to walk right in. Kathy was our server and she is the cutest. I ordered the Eggs Benedict on an English Muffin with a Red Chili Hollandaise Sauce and Artichoke Hearts. The eggs are served with House Potatoes on the side, along with some lettuce and an orange wedge. That sauce is absolutely wonderful. Creamy and velvety, just like a Hollandaise should be; the red chili flavor adding a wonderful southwestern flare without any actual heat. The first egg I cut into unfortunately was not runny. Not fully congealed, I just missed that golden lava. The second egg was perfection. That yolk ran over everything. And their English Muffins were not dry or chewy, which is normally why I sub them for biscuits(totally a Southern thing). Ironically, English Muffins are the only bread they do not make in house. On to the potatoes. They are a no fuss side. A humble potato roughly diced, deep fried twice for that golden brown color and unmistakeable crunch, seasoned simply with salt and pepper. Eat them with either the ketchup, chili sauce, or both. Can’t go wrong. Don’t forget dessert on your way out. The lemon empanadas are AMAZING! A light, flaky, and just sweet enough pastry is the perfect vehicle for the tart lemon filling. Made from scratch on site, you get that homemade feel as you bite into it. The dusting of powdered sugar adds to the sweetness; that being said, no need to worry about getting powdered sugar everywhere. It stays on the food and not your lap. Not sure what magic they use at the Shed, but they should keep doing it. And not just with the pastries. If I ever find myself in Las Cruces again, I will be back for some French Toast made from their southwestern breads.

I’ve consistently had issues at the Shed to the point where my boyfriend and I are likely not going to make an effort to come back, which is entirely unfortunate because you guys have amazing food. In the last two months, service has become increasingly terrible to the point that on our most recent visit, my order was input incorrectly and we had to get another waitstaffer to take it back because our waitress wasn’t paying attention. Also on this visit, we had to track someone down for coffee any time we needed it(and one time my boyfriend asked for more and the waitress went behind the bar, completely forgot we asked, and started drinking her water and we had to grab someone else to do it. This is after not bringing us any coffee all visit). Additionally, before we were even sat, there were 3 or 4 tables open and no one being called back(there was a larger party waiting and I understand that you were waiting for tables to rearrange, but with that many tables open you could have accommodated the smaller parties that were waiting for basically no reason). At a previous visit we had family from out of town visiting and had a table of six, one of which was my boyfriend’s daughter. I want to note that the waitress did a great job apologizing for this: The daughter did not receive her food because it was not input, she also did not receive crayons, our family did not receive their side order because it was not input, I did not receive the proper side condiments, and coffee again was hard to come by. At another previous visit I had an omelette that was way more than loose in the center, it was raw(clear egg whites). On that visit we did not get coffee refills ever, and when my food was taken back it didn’t get remade and brought back out for a good 15 to 20 minutes after I had sent it back. By that point, my companion had finished their meal, I wasn’t given anything in the mean time(not even coffee!) and I was irate enough that I just wanted to leave regardless of the food returning. The manager got frustrated with me because I said I didn’t care about getting the food and that I didn’t want to pay for it, I just wanted the check for what my friend ate so we could leave. The omelette still got put on the check despite being told after much argument that it wouldn’t be, so I had to again argue to get it taken off. Thanks for the to-go omelette that I didn’t even want at that point. These sitting-at-a-table incidents don’t even cover the frequent lack-of-anyone-at-the-front to take names down. I’ve stood at the front multiple times for over five minutes just to put my name down, many of those times because the hostess was socializing in the back; I stood there watching it happen. I feel like The Shed’s motto should really be «Come for the food and absolutely nothing else.» Patrons shouldn’t have to flag down waitstaff any time they want a refill. If that’s going to be the case, just make it policy that we have to refill our own drinks. It’s almost entirely self-service except for ordering food already, so it wouldn’t be too much of a leap to do that. I really, really hope the service gets it together because the food is fantastic and the red chile is arguably the best in town. For the love of god, please please please get the service right so I can finally enjoy eating here.

Best breakfast in town. One star off because there’s always a wait on weekends and there’s not much of a waiting area/the line is not managed efficiently. But the food is delicious, the menu is broad enough for all tastes(although if you’re smart you’ll get the huevos rancheros or the brisket, and always christmas), the coffee is hot and you can get a fine mimosa.

The Shed is always a great place to eat. Their food is always awesome and you never leave hungry. The staff is wonderful and even if they have a long wait because it’s so popular it’s well worth it. You can sit inside and enjoy the bustle of the staff or enjoy the air of outside, with there fast, fresh service we always come back for more.

Love this place. The food is really good, anything with green chili is a must try. There’s something for everyone. I typically come for breakfast and have yet to be disappointed. Cons: coffee sucks and they do not allow you to bring in your own. Also, there is this older lady who I assume it’s the manager and she is kind of a @#$&*. I come here quite often and she’s not very nice, ever. Aside from that, I enjoy making the trip from El Paso.

This place is worth the visit. Sit outside if you get a chance and it’s cool. Food is served quickly and it’s hot. Very tasty. You won’t be disappointed with your service nor your food.
