Advanced Laparoscopic & General Surgery In June of 2013 I was hospitalized at Centennial Hospital for a nasty bout of diverticulitis. During my time there I was introduced to Dr. Pankaj Bhatnagar(Dr. P.K.) as the Surgeon assigned to my case. Dr. P.K. discussed my options and listened to my concerns and needs. We determined that the best course of action was to remove the diseased area of the Sigmoid Colon so that I could be done with this problem and get on with my very active life. The benefits to early surgical intervention were a higher probability of laparoscopy over traditional surgery and lower risk of risk of abscess and thus a lower probability of having to deploy a colostomy bag. He was right in every bit of his advice! I’m eight days beyond my surgery which took place at Centennial Hospital on July 10th and feeling great considering that I’ve had 14 inches of my Sigmoid Colon removed. The incisions used were small and the recovery time has been and will be short. Dr. P.K. was attentive and always mindful to answer my questions. He is also very straight forward in his approach to his patients at least in my case. If you want to beat around the bush and make idle chatter, he is likely not your guy; but if you want it straight and easy to understand then you should seek him out. One last thing that is worthy of note is Dr. P.K.‘s team. They were all professional and excellent in their approach to the patient, but one really stood out when it came to my situation. This dynamo’s name is Mary Jane. She managed my insurer(no easy task), set appointments with other doctors, made sure everything was ready each step of the way as I prepared for the surgery and kept me updated along the way. You can’t ask for better service or care. I hope you never find yourself in the situation that I did, but if it happens, I hope that Dr. P.K. is the guy that they call in to consult on your case. If not, ask for him.
