Honestly, I was expecting more people in costume. At the beginning of the night I saw quite a few people dressed up. This is who I saw through out the night: Clone Trooper, female han, female vader, a mock han, a rebel, a girl in a cloak, a clone trooper wearing a blue adiddas jacket and an alien species of the SW world. Yet not that many people hung around til the end, trust me I wanted to leave around 8. I do admire those that showed up in SW garb, cant make a sw party with out any Sw on you. The art, was nice. I dont see what the rage is with zombifying sw characters, Perhaps its just me? I had a good time at the venue. Liked the sw themed food and drink. I wouldve expected a lil more on the wookie fur sliders, two of them? I mean if you kill a wookie, it would be enough cover a whole table or more. The cupcakes? OMG! LOOOVED them, they were just right! Some say they were sweet, but it was perfect! The bartenders were slow, they didn’t know about what was going on with the tix. I think the wait time for me to get the«han shot first» drink was 5 minutes. I do have to agree that movie shouldn’t been mixed with music. Just play the movie! I know that any one of us could go to a lounge or club and hear music. Heck, Loveshack used to mix 80s movies with music. HOPEFULLY, next year’s may the fourth will have a better turnout than this go around and I’ll have a better costume next time. Yes, I was one of the 7 of the 9 who was in the contest who stayed. Boy was I hurting the next day at work lol(2 hours later that is)

Another year, another #StarWarsDay. This year the artists showcasing their art was noticeably fewer in number, but still cool to look at. The venue also changed slightly, it was still held at Mandalay Bay’s The House of Blues, but it was on the other side of the restaurant. And as mentioned in the other 2 reviews, less, and I really mean LESS Unilocalers that RSVPed and actually showed up. Seeing fellow Unilocalers and chillin for the 90 or so minutes I was there was cool. We were at the Unilocal table, with Star Wars themed cupcakes, and just eyeing people that really wanted those cupcakes. Some were brave enough and also polite enough to ask if they could get one. And if they check in via their Unilocal app, they were given one or two. The rest mysteriously disappeared one by one, when we were not guarding the cupcake horde, as we were busy doing searching for the missing droids or being distracted by a dark & very beautiful dark forceweilder and the occasional Slave Leia. I did not ordered any food, as I heard what happened with Lfe’s order. But I love the names and descriptions of the Star Wats themed menu items. I was disappointed I did not stay until the end for the costume contest, but it was a smart move by the event organizers to have the costume contest winners decided at the end instead of mid way through. Too bad no pictures were taken or posted of all the fans that came dressed for the costume contest. Next year? I am still undecided about attending it, but probably will just because I don’t know of a better May the 4th Be With You festivities in town. Review #22 of 2014

This event was ok… not as many people attended or dressed up as I would’ve imagined. Outside HOB I checked in and was handed a drink ticket for a sponsored shot and then found Niyen at the reserved Unilocal area where there were fancy looking Star Wars cupcakes and Unilocal swag set out. The cupcakes looked cool but they were way too sweet for my taste. The bartenders were slow and clueless during the event. When we tried ordering food they didn’t seem to know what was on the menu for the event and just looked at us funny. Ife’s order got«lost» for a while and she had to track it down to get it. During the event they played Star Wars: A New Hope on a projector screen but they never turned off the music so you couldn’t hear anything. Eventually they turned on the subtitles but by then I’m sure no one was paying attention anymore. Shout outs to Ife A, Carla M and Tony T for chillin with me at the Unilocal table. Not sure if I’ll want to attend this event again next time.

This event was OK. It would have been much better if the DJ would have stopped playing the music while the movie was on. I mean, come on, this is a Star Wars event, with Star Wars fans. You’re showing the version where Han shoots first(heck, you even had a drink named that), and you don’t have the sound on? Bad call in my opinion. The food was good. The waitress working in the Unilocal lounge kept checking on our table to see if we needed anything. The cupcakes were nicely decorated with the Star Wars theme. I had a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing and decorated with Yoda’s head made out of chocolate. Very rich, and very sweet. As Brian P. stated in his review, not too many people attended or were in costume. However my friend and fellow Unilocaler, Lisa, won 3rd place for her costume in the general category. So I’m giving 3 stars for the event and the 4th star for Lisa’s win. :)
