I’m sure the conference center itself is great. This review pertains specifically to the FedEx store within the conference center. I was hoping to use this FedEx branch to ship a large quantity of items from my home at the MGM Signature to my apartment in San Diego. I stopped by their desk 24hrs prior to ensure that they were able to execute two key tasks: packing & shipping. I provided detailed information regarding the specific items to be packed and shipped, including clothes, office supplies, an iMac and an Apple Thunderbolt monitor. «No problem — that’s what we do,» I was told. Showed up the next morning and they refused to ship the computer equipment despite the prior day’s verbal assurances. Manager dug himself into a deeper hole by claiming that despite having stated the prior day that shipping computer equipment was no problem, my specific computer(iMac) and the accompanying secondary monitor were problematic because they’re «LCD screens.» Apparently he just hopped off a time machine from 1995 and assumed that when I said I’d be shipping a monitor, I meant I’d be shipping a 50 pound CRT screen instead of a flat screen. Bottom line is that once I get the sense that an employee or manager is being disingenuous, making up store policies off the top of his head, or is outright lying, it’s game over. I take my business elsewhere. That’s exactly what I did. I called UPS on Flamingo. They came over to this FedEx location in 15 mins, grabbed the monitors and computers, packed them, and staged them for shipping. Let me be clear. The only reason this FedEx gets two stars instead of one is because it was convenient pickup point for UPS. Irony. Female employees were helpful and polite. Male employees were rude, condescending, and insulting(e.g. making a joke in front of me asking a co-worker if the clothes I was shipping were part of her laundry or something). The place has potential but definitely needs some personnel changes.
