Stewart’s has the best ice cream by far. However, and I usually don’t like cake, but nothing beats Carvel. Nothing. The way they do the vanilla/chocolate crumbs/chocolate is tried and true, and I used to eat entire cakes by myself when I was little. This store is mostly take out of course, it’s blank white with a Shaker or Siena student working the register. Take your pick: there’s cakes of all sizes lined up for your liking, and I remember I got one for my dad’s birthday and just put, «You’re getting older». What an asshole I was haha. The chocolate crumb-y middle of the cake is definitely worth it, it’s the munch to the soft ice cream surrounding and brings me back so well. And it’s cheap too. When you scarf down an entire small cake for like 8 bucks, I say it’s worth it. This particular location is 5 minutes away from me in Loudonville when I’m home for the holidays and such. Newton Plaza really does have it all.

Home of Fudgy The Whale! Located in the Newton Plaza, the ice cream cakes here are soooo good, especially the Football Cake, a great dessert for Monday Night Football. The Carvel ice cream cakes are made right here on the premises at this franchise, unlike the Carvel cakes found at the supermarkets, which are made at a large processing plant in Marlborough, MA. Besides great ice cream cakes, this full service ice cream parlor serves up cones, dishes, sundaes, shakes, saucers, and malts using rich & creamy soft serve or hard ice cream. Overall, I would give this place 3STARS for the basic shop, but since the rich ice cream cakes are made here on the premises, add 1STAR. This location accepts Entertainment coupons and occasionally there are coupons in the Sunday paper. On Wednesdays, it’s buy one get one free sundaes!
