This place is great. I got the Phở Bo sandwich and I ate every last bite. My mom got a turkey sandwich with apples which she loved. The soda they have is really cool. They have a kind that is made not far from Lawrence and they also have Italian sodas. I got a pink lemonade soda and it was very good. We decided to splurge and got bread pudding for dessert. It was literally amazing! Definitely a great lunchtime place.

Went here on a first date, and although the band was really loud(and not very good) but we got to sit in the back room where no one else was sitting so we could hear each other. :) The service was impeccable… Marcel is very sweet and polite. Everything we ate from our appetizer(brie with honey over it) to the entrée and the brownie sundae was absolutely delicious. I ate every last bit of it and I was so impressed! I’d recommend this to ANYONE!

My mom raved about this place but I was surprised at how meh I found it. There wasn’t much to offer on the menu and what I ate was ok but nothing special. I was hoping for a lot more honestly.

Is this really Lawrence? I grew up in Lawrence, which we all know has had its share of hardships, and it’s so great to see a new-ish restaurant with character, charm, and great quality food! It feels more like a café that you would find in Park Slope Brooklyn. On my last visit home I visited Café Verde to have lunch with the folks. I came a couple hours earlier than my parents to use the WiFi, which is free, and sip my Café au Lait… as others have said, the staff was friendly and welcoming. For lunch I had the Vegan Verde Wrap, which was light and tasty(and I am not Vegan, I was just craving veggies). My dad, who is vegan had their Vegan Chocolate cake for dessert. I am a bit of a dessert junkie and upon tasting his desert I was sure that«Vegan» must mean something different than I thought! I swear I could taste the cream and eggs in it. It was like a deliciously chocolate moist bunt cake! Recommended! My mom was delighted with her standard BLT.(Mom has corrected me, «It is not standard… it is made on a lovely sourdough bread.» Thanks mom, noted.) On their menu it says that they make all their baked goods, desserts, and soups themselves. And that they try to use ingredients that are«grown, raised, and produced locally, humanely, and naturally.» Cool. I think I found my new favorite WiFi spot for when I visit my home town! Thanks Café Verde for choosing Lawrence as your home! (fyi — metered street parking now! Make sure you pay your meter because the meter-maids patrol Essex St diligently.)

Super friendly staff, delicious food and drinks(Try the three bean chili! One of the best vegan chilis I’ve ever had.), and awesome atmosphere. Will definitely come back again!

This place gets a solid 4 stars. Great food … I had the Phở Bo Sandwich which was very good and tasty. The atmosphere was casual, funky and urban … loved it. The best part of course was the coffee. I had the Café Cubano con Leche. I recommend it. The only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars is because of the service and staff. Although everyone seemed very nice, they were unatentive and kinda doing their own thing. We sat a while before we got service and when we did the girls said«What do you want?” — not in a rude manner, just not very customer friendly. One positive thing I will say about the staff is that we asked for scrambled eggs for my son(not on the menu) and they were really cool about it. Definitely will be visiting again while in Lawrence. Can’t wait to try some of the adult coffee.

Amazing! Café Verde roasts their own coffee daily, and it is perfect. The owners partner with other local businesses to get fresh locally made bread, produce, and dairy products. The menu is really creative and delicious, and is inspired partly from the travels and backgrounds of people who work there. You can get Brazilian pastries, Aubergine sandwiches, and the best 3-bean Chili around. Lots of reviews tout the vegan-friendly atmosphere(which is true!)…but my carnivore boyfriend loves this place as well! The atmosphere at Café Verde is great – it is laid-back, friendly, and relaxing. There is unlimited internet access, comfy sofas, and good music on weekends as well. And the prices are fantastic for locavore cuisine!

A very nice café in downtown Lawrence. Clean and freshly decorated with nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Our waitstaff was eager to please and even offered us the option to «beta test» a new sandwich not yet on the menu. The Saturday evening’s guitarist & singer did a nice job setting the mood without being too loud. For four adults with adult drinks, appetizers, meals and two deserts to split, our bill came to $ 33 per couple. Nice night out. We will go back.

Drove off I-95 around some bad parts of town coming home from Maine to NJ, found it in a better part of town. When we walked in I was like OMG its some sort of opium smoking dump from the smell. After looking at the menu turned out to be rather nice sandwich place.

Café Verde is friendly, yummy, and a great place to have a nice relaxing time. Thanks to them, I now have a new way to prepare beets, a place to relax with vegetarian or omnivore friends, and a heck of a cup of coffee. A lot of things are made in-house, so not everything is available at all times. This also means you might catch something when it is fresh out of the oven — a plus, just roll with it. Try the Italian sodas, try the coffee drinks, try the aubergine(appetizer or sandwich), or a nice bowl of soup. Definitely give the lemon thyme cookies or coconut cake a chance. I would recommend the Pao de Queijo, but I don’t really want to share them with anyone. I’ve only been there in the daytime when it is quiet and good for chatting with friends or curling up with a lovely book on a sofa. I understand they have music in the evenings.

I live nearby and Ipad suggested this place for lunch. The interior and décor is funky and comfy. Sofa and chairs by the window with coffee table books. I ordered the Phở Bo sandwich which was very good however for ten bucks, it could afford to be a little bigger. Small side salad had yummy dressing. Also served with chips. Food was good, but I still left a little hungry…

Great café in an unobtrusive location of lawrence. Great staff who genuinely want you to feel relaxed and at home as possible. Desserts and coffee’s are excellent! Try the café cubano con leche. I usually don’t enjoy sweetened creamed coffee’s, but this one really hits the mark. Just the right amount of sweetness along with a subtle amount of steamed milk.

Have been here a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience every time. The atmosphere is very comfortable — almost like you’re hanging out in someone’s vintage-decorated home — and if you go when there’s live music it’s a great hang-out/date coffee house. My favorite things to get there are the cheese bread w/cheese & guava paste as an appetizer, a French Onion Sandwich for an entrée — and oh man. My ABSOLUTE favorite is their bread pudding. I am a huge fan of bread pudding and if it’s on the menu I’m a sucker for it — so of course, when I saw it was on the menu I ordered some. Let me put it this way: Hubby and I will often discuss hypothetical questions… you know, «If I had a million dollars what would you do with it?» type things. One night he said«If you could have a dessert from anywhere in the world that we’ve been(and we’ve been to Florida, Vegas, and Jamaica as well as lots of places in New England), what would it be?» Without blinking. I responded that I would choose the bread pudding from Café Verde. So good — to die for. They drizzled it with caramel sauce and I ordered it warm(you can get it warm or cold) — so. stinking good. Now I can’t wait to go there next Friday night and get some of it. With one of their mochas.

I like this place. It’s funky, comfortable, and casual. ANd a place where you can hear live music. My only criticism? They seema bit disorganized. The waitress didn’t seem to know what size cup my coffee would come in. I ordered a large café au lait… and was expecting one of those big coffee cups.(I asked why she wasn’t giving me a large in a big cup and she said«I don’t know».) Then I ordered another, and it came in the BIG cup. Maybe an off day? Also, I ordered the«Salmon Roll-up»(or something like that) for an appetizer, and it was pretty small with very LITTLE salmon. I expected more. This is more of a «lunch place»…and coffee shop. Other than that, a good place to stop with friends and chat.

A jewel like this is usually found in places like the South End or Harvard Square. I wish the Café Verde vibe would expand and envelop the city of Lawrence with its casual elegance. This is a great spot for a date but, if you’re eating alone, bring your laptop or a good book to read and sink into a comfy chair. Dining with friends? Grab a big table and enjoy each other’s company. I started with a cup of the chicken soup with coconut and curry so delicate and delicious I should have ordered a bowl. Then came the Croque-Monsieur, a grilled ham and cheddar sandwich coated in bechamel sauce so ridiculously good it became an instant favorite. No dessert but I had the Cuban Café con Leche that tasted just as it should(take it from a Cuban). They offer wonderful organic and fair-trade coffees roasted in-house. Believe me when I tell you this is a spot worth going into Lawrence for. You’ll be hooked when you walk in the door of this lovely place with it’s grand repurposed antique pieces from the old mills and churches, the vintage bottles found during Merrimack River cleanups, and a tastefully incorporated gallery of the work of local artists and photographers. You may feel like you’re in Boston but you’ll know you’re not when you get the check.

This place is the bomb! Finally there is a place in these neck of the woods with some character and fun. Forget Starbucks and come here for a cortalito if you like a real espresso. I lived in Europe for a number of years and this is a good as any coffee over there. We went on a Saturday night and saw some live music. Very cool. The food looks excellent — organic local foods, and very unique ideas. We had already had dinner but our friends ordered and said it was great. One of the nice features is that it’s not just a coffee house. Apart from the salads and sandwiches, you can get order a number of different beers which makes this a great place to head out for an evening too. Stop in, you won’t regret it!!!

Café Verde just opened up in Lawrence, which I’m sad to say is a city I’ve historically avoided. However, this gem is enough to make me want to frequent the old mill town. We first visited shortly after they opened, and we’ve been back repeatedly since. I should say that in the interest of full disclosure, I don’t particularly like coffee, so I didn’t get any here. However, the hot cocoa is fantastic(get a shot of coconut in it!) However, my wife LOVES coffee(our marriage is doomed to failure) and she thought this stuff was great. Apparently it’s all fair-trade and organic and roasted on the premises. Their primary fare for food is typical café, with soups sandwiches and salads(think Panera-esque, but far more inventive and superiorly executed. We got the nachos to start, which were delicous, and not too salsa-y, which I appreciated. There was plenty of cheese, and some great produce on top. I think the salsa may be made there, because it tasted really fresh(I didn’t ask.) We then had some awesome sandwiches. I got the Croque Madam(I’m sure I spelled that wrong) which had both a fried egg and cheese baked onto the bread. Highly recommended. My wife had a French Onion sandwich, which is hard to explain, but wonderful. I ate half of hers, because I’m a thief. Finally, we split some cheese bread because the person working there said we had to(they were right — it was awesome!) And some truffles, which apparently are ALSO made there, which is pretty impressive. They’re also really cheap considering how good they are. Much better than you get at the mall. Finally, the décor was pretty cool in a hipster chic kind of way. It’s pretty eclectically decorated, and lends itself to being a really sweet hangout environment, especially the back area, which has some comfortable stuffed chairs. The only immediate downside that I can think of is that it’s a bit further from my home than I’d like, which makes visiting more often a little bit difficult. However, we’re more than willing to make the half-hour drive often to get some of that cheese bread and great food. It’s definitely worth it to go on the weekends, when they have live music in the evenings. When we’ve been, it’s all been pretty nice mellow music that you can still have a conversation during.

Finally a place where you can get a decent cup of coffee, and by decent I mean excellent. You can really taste the difference achieved from using freshly roasted fair trade organic beans. The regular drip coffee, cold-brewed iced coffee and espresso drinks are all exceptional. The superbness of the coffee is equaled by the creativity and quality of the food. Both traditional and original sandwiches, salads, soups and appetizers, all with an international flair. It will take multiple visits to try all the different options. The interior is classic, contemporary and cozy — the kind of place you’d want to spend a rainy afternoon or an evening out with friends. I highly recommend this place and look forward to my next visit.

Café Verde is the first of its kind in Lawrence. Even though I’m not a coffee drinker, albeit tea drinker, I still love this place because of the atmosphere, the food, the immensely fascinating & nice owners, and the ‘creative adult beverages.’ On multiple occasions I’ve brought my laptop to study here while munching on some Brazilian cheese bread(pão de queijo) and drinking a Squamscot soda. I highly recommend trying the assortment of international-inspired food options, especially my favorite — the Croque-Madame from France. My favorite aspect about the ambiance is the board games collection. It’s simply wonderful to be able to sit down with friends to a nice meal, drinks, and a board game all in a welcoming and comfortable environment; because who knows, maybe that game of Risk or Civilization might just last for hours! I truly believe that even outside of the Merrimack Valley this place would thrive. I’m just super fortunate to have it in Lawrence!

What a wonderful, cool addition to Lawrence! A must visit if you’re in the area. Had a really nice latte here. Didnt try the food yet, but te chocolates look delish. The owners Missy and Priscila are very friendly and welcoming. They put a lot of work into creating such beautiful ambiance, including a skylight and old church pews. There’s historical flavor in this shabby chic café. Thanks for making this a place you want to come and unwind!
