Best crab Rangoon in town hands down! Sesame chicken was great and employees were very friendly.

Delicious! I was worried that since I was just moving back to the area that this restaurant would not be as good as I remembered. I am happy to say that I was worried for nothing! I ordered General Tso’s chicken and crab rangoons because I was seriously craving some sweet, salty, spicy, saucy chicken over fried rice. It was amazing and the crab rangoons even tasted the same. This isn’t the 4 and 5 star celebrity chef franchises I’ve been eating at for the last ten years but it brought me home in more ways then one and made me happy to be back.

This is my favorite Chinese food in Lawrence! I always order the crab rangoon and the fried rice, but I’m boring like that. A few times the food has been not so stellar, but the staff makes up for it. They are the nicest people in the world!!! I actually enjoy when they come to my house. Love, love, love.

I have driven by this place probably a hundred times and never looked twice. I’m so glad that my eyes have been opened! My husband and I wanted Chinese but didn’t want to drive across town, and I remembered there is this little gem only a few blocks away. But let me tell you, now that I’ve had it, I would drive an hour to eat here. I had the emperors chicken. It was lightly fried and sautéed chicken with veggies, and a mildly sweet red sauce. The portion was so big I think it will be enough for 3 meals! My husband had the sesame chicken, which he highly recommends. Overall, I think this is my favorite Chinese in Lawrence. Give it a try, you’ll regret not going there sooner!

Always have great service and the food is great. I never tried the buffet, but everything I order off the menu is always fast and hot. My favorite is chicken chow mein. My friend ordered the triple delight which they agreed it was great. I have done delivery and drive thru, again fast and hot! One of my favorite places to go in Lawrence.

Waitress was really sweet and genuinely interested in making our visit a good one. The crab ragoon was some of the best i have ever had. The chicken lo mein was awesome and the general taos was great. The only reason for 4 stars is because the dumplings were pretty awful… Perhaps i am just acustumed to cheap buffet dumplings… but i couldn’t get through a second dumpling and had to spit it into my napkin. i was disappointed because i love fried dumplings, but otherwise i had no complaints and will eat there again for sure(just wont order the dumplings next time)!

This restaurant serves not one, but two clienteles. There are those who love Americanized Chinese and lots of it. Those folks can get food from what looks like a pretty decent buffet or order off the regular menu. For folks like me, who prefer the authentic stuff, they have a fairly extensive authentic menu. You will not be offered this menu, though. You have to specifically ask for it. But there’s so much good stuff on it, I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t want to take a peek. I’ve eaten at(and gotten carryout from) Panda Garden many times since they opened and I’ve never been disappointed. For apps, the red bean pancakes and the scallion pancakes from their authentic menu are an inexpensive and delightful way to start a meal. My hubby tried the thousand year old egg from the apps section of the authentic menu and he didn’t particularly care for it, but it was only a few bucks, so why not experiment? My most recent entrée here was the bear paw tofu with pork. It’s served with a sauce that has a nice amount of chili oil for a gentle kick. Yum! Servings are really big here, so if you spend 10 or 12 bucks on an entrée, you’ll get two servings out of it. What a bargain! Service is fast and friendly, too. There are plenty of booths and tables and noise pollution is generally pretty decent as well, so it’s a good place to go if you want to enjoy pleasant conversation.

I won’t order Chinese take-out from anywhere else in town. Everything is always fast and hot or cold as appropriate and the delivery staff is great. I am half living on the thai spring rolls at this point. Eating in is also excellent. The staff will remember you even after one visit. My roommate swears by the Authentic Chinese fermented fish dish. I love the walnut shrimp.

This is the best Chinese food in Lawrence, maybe all of Kansas. I’ve only ever ordered delivery and it’s always there in 30 minutes or less if not 15. It’s piping hot and delicious. The authentic menu is great but so is the regular one! You can’t go wrong.

We came here on a Wednesday afternoon and were the only guests at this lovely restaurant. The staff were happy to see us: we were greeted with a «ni hao» by a non-Chinese staff member, we got complimentary Chinese buns and orange, and we had the full attention of the waiter. We got rice porridge with egg, spicy chicken with bamboo shoots, honey shrimp with walnut, and eggplant. My favorite dish was the rice porridge; the egg flavored the rice with a hint of saltiness. My only complaint is that the shrimp dish was too sweet; the sauce was pure honey – it’s the first time I’ve ever had it that sweet. Overall, I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere of the restaurant and would come back to try different dishes.

I haven’t tried every Chinese type restaurant in Lawrence, but out of the ones I have tried, this is definitely my favorite. Order from here about 2 – 4 times a month. The selection is outstanding including a full authentic menu. The appetizers are delicious. The portions are huge. The entrees are varied and tasty. Delivery is fast and always accurate. The employees are very nice as well. This is a must try in Lawrence! It keeps me coming back for more.

A few friends and I ordered from here before a KU game. Glad we did! The delivery was extremely fast(about 15 min) and the food was better than most Chinese places around Lawrence. We ordered the Hunan Mussels, which were as beautiful as they were tasty. Pleasantly surprised by how large the mussels were — hard to find in Kansas. We also got the Phad Thai. It was okay, I’ve definitely had better, but not bad. Now for the General Tso’s chicken. I don’t usually like to order this dish because it’s often overly sweet and breaded. But I must say, I was impressed by the sauce. Lighter than most, slightly sweet with a good amount of heat. The breading left something to be desired though. Last, but not least, the sticky rice appetizer made for a nice, unique dish with pork and mushrooms. I’ll certainly be trying this restaurant again. Looking forward to trying some of the more authentic dishes!

One of my fellow diners had naturally-cased Chinese Sausage(chitlins) and said«This is the bees knees of pigs intestines!» He really enjoyed his meal. I had a spicy chicken dish with a side of rice. The portion was giant! I easily have lunch for tomorrow. Another diner had seaweed salad«very delightful» and Chinese sticky rice(her favorite). it’s a Chinese tamale of sticky rice wrapped with pork, mushroom and wrapped in a bamboo leaf. Both were on the appetizer section. Extra stars for the friendliness of the owners. One owner came over and chatted with this for a good 10 or 15 minutes. The owners also were talking with other customers in by name. Bonus stars!

I’ve eaten in and gotten take out a few times, mainly chicken and vegetables. I ordered a delivery of panang curry, which should be spicy and sweet and mainly chicken with a few peppers. I received a container(a paper container) full of chicken, broccoli and snow peas with some yellow liquid at the bottom. It tasted disgusting. It was like soapy chicken broth. I called and asked them if this was normally how it was prepared. I got hung up on once and then put on hold for 5 minutes the second time for an old lady to tell me that’s how it is made. Well, not going to get their food anymore. Thanks!

A good, solid, kind of junky, kind of greasy Chinese place. I get take out from here about once a month. The people on the phone are always nice and helpful, and even willing to split up big orders or make substitutions. They are also always so friendly when I pick up my order. I usually get moo shu shrimp(with extra pancakes!) and let me tell you, they do not skimp on the shrimp! I really appreciate that! I also really like the soups and crab rangoons. Lo mein is a solid choice and exactly what you expect. I will say that their Thai food is really not that good. I’ve had a few of the soups and the pad thai and it’s just disappointing. Stick with the Chinese food.

I don’t know what has happened to this place. It used to be the best Chinese food in town(at least for my family.) Today we got the most bland food ever. My mom got the Eight Treasure Chicken. It seemed gelatinous, flavorless, maybe over-cooked? My Kung Pao chicken had absolutely no spiceyness at all– isn’t that why you order that dish? It also had a weird, gelatinous texture. I also ordered the egg drop soup, which was just ok; but it came with those fried noodle chipy things and they were stale! It was pretty nasty. The only good thing I had was the Chinese Steamed bread — hard to screw that up. Very disappointing food today– hate to say I probably could have had better food at *gasp* Panda Express. Ugh.

2.5 stars. Nothing much here to say about Panda and Plum Garden — generic name, generic items(menu is way too large and overwhelming). They do have an «authentic» menu which didn’t look terribly authentic to me, but at least you get some variety. I’m fairly sure everything here is cooked in the same brown sauce but at least that brown sauce wasn’t too heavy on the MSG. Delivery was fast; they have an efficient online system that estimated around 30 – 55 min wait and it got to us within 30min. –0.5 stars ultimately because, while prices are certainly not high $ 8-$ 10 for most entrees), I expect Chinese takeout to be cheaper. At that price you can have a much more enjoyable meal that’s not laden with lowered expectations. But I’m rounding up to 3 stars because the delivery guy was super friendly :)

Panda Garden is one of those restaurants that I wish I went to more often so I can try everything! I’ve tried several things on the regular menu, the Chinese menu, and have had the buffet. The wonderful owner and helpful staff make the experience even better. Ask for the Chinese menu if you’re feeling adventurous. We’ve had the pork belly(a bit heavy/fatty), pork and glass noodles(delectable), and the kung pao chicken(tasty but not spicy) off of the Chinese menu. We’ve gotten the hot pot twice and love it. Hot pot is basically Chinese broth fondue. A large pot of broth and spices is placed in the middle of the table on a burner. Trays of veggies and meat are brought to the table for you to cook yourself. Included are beef, chicken, seafood, napa cabbage, bok choy, glass noodles, mushrooms, fish balls, and dumplings(and other stuff)! Both times we’ve gotten it, the owner came out and makes the dipping sauce in front of us. She’s cool. Off the«American Chinese» menu, we’ve had wonton soup and the Mongolian beef — both great. We’ve gotten delivery once, and it was delivered within 30 minutes! The food kept its quality AND came in the cute little Chinese takeout boxes with metal handles :-) GO!
