History

Established in 2005.

Sisters Nichele and Amber opened Pawsh Wash and Pet Health Market Nov. 1st, 2005. Since then many more services and products have been added, many friendships formed and so many pups transformed! We are committed to supporting our community and helping make Lawrence, KS the best place to live with a dog!

Meet the Manager

Mallory D.

Manager

Mallory is a badass! She keeps Pawsh Wash running smooth and upholds our high standards of customer service, cleanliness, safety and FUN! Mallory is science and health driven but she is still really cool :) She is a runner, a biker, and a drinker of whiskey. She loves to post pictures of her dog and what she is making for dinner.

The first couple times I took my dog there, it was OK. Never great but I don’t know many dogs that enjoy getting a bath.
The last time I took my dog there, we were greeted by one person that said they were going to groom him. When I came to pick him up, I was met by a totally different person who had groomed him. She was extremely rude to us. Said in a rather annoyed voice that she had to muzzle my dog because he was being a big pain and was very difficult. My dog came out and was extremely panicked. I could tell something was definitely off with his behavior.
The next day, my dog was licking one of his front paws and limping on one of his back paws. I looked at the front paw and one of the claws had been trimmed past the quick. I checked out his back paw that he was limping on. Two claws had been trimmed past the quick. You know what? If you trimmed my nails that far and caused my foot to be injured like that, you would have to muzzle me, too.
In speaking with management, while they were initially apologetic, my impression was that she was more bothered that I was making a fuss than the fact that her employee Estella was rude to a customer and injured an animal.
I adopted my dog from a shelter. In his short life he has endured a great deal of abuse and mistreatment. I don’t want to ever put him in a position where he’s not going to be treated with compassion and patience. I won’t be back to Pawsh Wash.

Had a WONDERFUL experience the first time I visited and had my dog groomed, and gave the store 5 stars. Unfortunately the second time was not the same experience. I have never been in the store when the staff has been the same. This crew was not my favorite, and I don’t understand why turnover is so high. Dropped my dog off and came back early as usual to make sure he was okay. He was a rescue and has separation anxiety when I am gone. I look back through the glass door and he is muzzled??? I asked the young man at the counter why, and was told that he put his mouth on Estella’s arm and she felt uncomfortable. I followed up by asking if he growled or was aggressive in any way, and was told «No.» He put his mouth on her arm like he does when he plays. First and foremost if that made her uncofortable then she needs to find a new career. Secondly, putting a muzzle on my dog without communicating with me will never be okay. This business is very hit and miss based on who you get. Not sure if Doug will be going back, but Estella will never touch any of my dogs again.

I live in KC but my boyfriend and I were in Lawrence visiting his parents with our 4 month old puppy. We decided to stay longer than originally planned and didn’t have food for her evening meal. The girls hooked us up with a small sample of high quality dog food similar to the one she eats regularly and were super accommodating to us late evening on a Sunday night. VERY impressed and would recommend this place to anyone in Lawrence purely based on their customer service. Five stars!

Did a self wash since I was in the area and decided to take my white booted dog to the muddy off leash park. SMH. But the business is friendly and good with pets. Wash/​dry area is rather small. $ 19 for self wash. Might try the full service sometime.

I wanted to get one of our dogs groomed on short notice, and thought Pawsh Wash would be booked up. Instead I went to the new PetSmart in Lawrence. BIG MISTAKE! After 2 hours, when I was supposed to pick him up, PetSmart called and told me they were refusing to groom him. They said he was «stressed» and they didn’t want to endanger his health. Reasonable reason if there were any truth. He has a bit of separation anxiety like most dogs, but I took him to the vet afterwards and was told he was completely fine. My fault for taking him to a retail clerk with a brush instead of a professional groomer! Avoid PetSmart in Lawrence like the plague!!!
Took Doug to Pawsh Wash and he loved it. The staff is amazing and he took to them right away. LOVED the grooming and he looks amazing. I will never go anywhere else again!

I have been taking my dog here for awhile and they always do a great job. Morgan has groomed my dog more than once and I love the results. She genuinely loves what she does and it shows. My dog is really neurotic and doesn’t like to be away from me. They always are super sensitive to her needs since, she in an older dog. They also send you home with a report card about your dogs experience and how your coat, teeth and nails look. Super thorough. Love!

We have taken our 3 boys here multiple times and had multiple groomers take care of them. We have never been disappointed with the grooming, and the staff is incredibly nice. Highly recommend Pawsh Wash! The only negative is they are always busy, so getting an appointment within a few days only happens if you add to their wait list and get lucky, so plan ahead!

These wonderful people are talented and flexible and very gracious. I had a «grooming emergency» and the staff were able to mobilize to help me on the spot. So grateful. Plus they were playing Ratatat. Great place, great soundtrack.

It’s kind of a fun place to take your pooch for a bath. It’s really best to take advantage of their sweet deals like the $ 10 yappy hour washes and half price washes on certain days. Good shampoo’s and nice dryers. The staff has always been nice as well.

I love this place! I don’t dare try to wash my dog at home, so he comes here for monthly baths. They have everything you need — towels, scrubbers, soap, shampoo, scissors, smell good spray, aprons (trust me, you need this!) towels, dryers, cotton balls, EVERYTHING. You just come in and they set you up and even provide a harness if your pup is a spaz like mine and likes to jump out of the tub!
Their wash system is nice because there are no bottles of soap you have to squeeze out. You just turn the nozzle to ‘wash’ and the soap comes out of the sprayer. Then turn to rinse, and even condition. Awesome! They also have pretty powerful dryers as well, so the drying process is pretty quick.
They also offer nail trims and all the staff is great with my dog. They also have half price washes on Tuesdays for certain breeds (ask them for details) and also a ‘Yappy Hour’ from 6−8pm where self-​serve washes are $ 10.
Bonus: they are a Lawrence Give Back member!

Just to let you know this is a natural pet store so prices will be higher but you feed your pet less for the higher quality plus they will be healthier.
I went in and was greeted right off the bat. I told him I was just looking around. He let me ponder for a while and then came and asked me if there was anything he could help me with. I have an English Bulldog and asked him a few questions and he was VERY, EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE and HELPFUL. I learned quite a bit in there.
Gave me a few samples to make sure my dog would eat them.
I would drive to Lawrence from Topeka just to go there with someone like him working there.
They also have grooming and a dog wash area that is a pretty neat set up.
