I’m really not sure how this bakery can have so many excellent reviews. My husband and I stopped in about a week ago and ordered a few dozen cookies of different varieties along with a couple slices of cake. We drove over an hour, because we really wanted some good baked goods and this place seemed to be the real deal. We were sadly disappointed. The cookies looked good, but really lacked flavor. I’d compare them to the bland cookies you can buy in the bakeries of chain grocery stores. Everything was super sugar sweet with no real substance or depth. Nothing seemed to have a flavor at all — every cookie tasted almost identical regardless of the variety. The chocolate items barely tasted like chocolate. The tiramisu was simply gross and not even close to the flavor you’d expect. My search for real Italian treats continues…

The cannoli’s were delicious. I tried some variations of the fillings and toppings, all were great. I also bought a cream horn and a piece of tres leches cake that both tasted like pepper/peppercorns for some reason. I found them both so off putting that I threw them away. I got one of the large macarons that was flavored butter pecan and it was only okay. Finally, I got a blueberry turn over that was very very dry/stale tasting. Disappointing because I expected something better.

Spent $ 65 today only to get yelled at by the cashier for not paying right today … after waiting nearly 15 minutes … huh? Bad service for just mediocre, semi-homemade pastries … really??? Well, next time I’ll skip Italian pastries on Mondays and wait for my favorite place(Fisichelli’s) to reopen on Tuesday.

I grew up in north New Jersey in the 1960’s and 70’s, eating New York City style pizza. Tripoli’s Bakery pizza is different from what you’d get in NYC, but it’s as good. The combination of slightly sweet sauce and sweet, bakery crust make this a great and unique pizza — certainly one of the best pizzas I’ve had in, or anywhere near, Boston.

Still the same great pastry and service I’ve come to expect after 50 years. The bread and Wandis never disappoint.

I love Tripoli Pizza! We usually order the box of 8(I think it saves you a buck or two). It needs to be a rule or something, if you pass by a tripoli’s you have to stop by! WE also love their cannoli’s! I ordered their Lobster tail once and wasn’t impressed.

Classic Tripoli pizza. If you grew up on the north shore you know their pizza. It’s thin, very crispy with a little cheese and sweet sauce. Order by the slice or sheet. The pastry is the best. Always fresh. I love anything they have with lemon in it.

Basically like other Unilocalers have said, this is like pulling out a Bakery out of a supermarket and placing it seperatly somewhere else, you would think they would have an exclusive Hispanic Baker making the Traditional latin pastries and an American baker making the traditional American stuff all fresh every morning. Nope, instead everything is just ordered in different places, got some cookies for my kids and the girl picked out the wrong ones. I though they were just individually packed to maintain the most freshness possible but when I got home and looked behind it had its own labeling from some other place like they just bought a pack of cookies and put them on a tray :/ There was a huge line with no order throughout the whole place all the girls looked grumpy, one of them on the phone with a face like she could care less about speeding up the call and helping her fellow co worker who at the time was by her self on one side of the counter. The side where the Dominican pastries were located were put out in a way I saw them and immediately knew what specific bakery they came from, I was disapointed thinking i would come across some fresh stuff instead they just bring a tray of there pastries and in a few days if there stuff doesnt sell they get credit for it and a new tray(Im guessing like alot of businesses do often with things like Bread ect) I mean if your going to order stuff from different spots atleast ask for them to be cut and served in a different way so it could have a unique look to it and not just have customers grim at it and think to there self«hhmmm thats from that place down the street» or whatever… Last but not least, the Cheesecake, I love me some cheesecake, it was a big let down, being you didnt get that sweet but not too sweet taste which is what makes it that much cheesier. The girl was in such a hurry she ran off and brought the slices without asking if i wanted them with strawberry filling as a topping or plain. It didn’t have a crust meaning they must have used something to hardened it so that the cheese custard wouldn’t break apart and be a hassle to cut in slices, so im guessing they either use a little bit of cake flour or some cornmeal, which gives it a harder texture and at the same time takes away alot of that cheesy flavor :(in fact these strategies are used in tropical places to make it more convinient in places where their more likely to melt… Oh well better luck next time.

This place is the real Sicilian deal. Pictures of the original owners while their granddaughter is working the counter sometimes, stuff always fresh, and looking good. I go and always get a box to take to the famiglia when I get home lol. Lawrence isn’t known for Italian bakeries but this place puts it on the map. Very very good!

Don’t know what the hype is about the pizza, its horrible. Their bread is good, their pastry is no where as good as it was years ago. There are better bakeries around, will never go back to Tripoli’s again

My family and I only order cakes from Tripolis! They always do an amazing job with detail and always accommodate our ideas. Oh and by the way, the cakes always taste just as great! Great pricing and turn around time. Love you guys!

This is the best of the best! I came to visit and my cousins bought all these baguettes from their place. Vietnamese people just can’t get enough of baguettes. We had 3 large paper bags full and it wasn’t enough for one day. The bread is crisp on the outside and just so ridiculously soft and fluffy on the inside. We used it to dip in beef stew, but I could have eaten that bread by itself all day. I can easily say they were the best baguettes I had ever had in my life and I’ve had a crack load of them growing up.(again Viet family) The baguettes are also very large and puffy! They’re so versatile, you can turn them into anything, breakfast with butter, sliced for bruschetta, dipped in stew, fried, topped with savory meat, the list goes on. Did I mention they’re also CHEAP? Great quality bread with a small town price tag, true love. I wish we had you guys over here in the Bay Area. Come to California please!

This was my first time checking this place out… Mind you… Ive lived one town over practically my whole life. And I’m a big foodie so that’s shocking to me. I’m glad I stopped by… But it might not have been a great idea since I want to go back already. Pizza… I love sweet sauce. So pizza… One word… AMAZING! :) Bakery… I wanted to try everything but since that wasn’t possible… Cream puff and tres leches was it for today. LOVE the cream in the puff… So good. Tres leches cake was ok… It wasn’t bad, just nothing to rave about… I’ve had better.

I LOVE this place!!! I first came here back when I’m was going to college(late 1990’s) NECCO(campus is close by) & I fell in love with the pizza! Every time I come home to visit I always take a drive to Lawrence to get some pizza! I’ve gone to the Salisbury location but for some reason it doesn’t taste the same & isn’t good @ all! I have no problem driving here to get some pizza! The sauce is sweet but not too sweet & the cheese is yummy! The crust is just right! Not too thin or too thick. I usually get extra slices to eat later & have them add extra cheese. Staff is always friendly & fast. Pizza is cooked after ordering. You can even watch them make the pizza’s from scratch. The area is open & you can see everything! I will place my order & then wander over to the bakery(right next door) & I usually end up buying some sweets! Had the Napoleon bar… OMG it was amazing & I haven’t stopped thinking about it since I ate it!!! I wish I had gotten two! I got my Mom the Éclair & her BF a peanut butter cookie & both said they were delicious! You can also buy frozen pizza to take home too! Bring some change or dollar bills if your thirsty because they serve soda & water but in a Coke machine. Seating is limited & not good for a big group unless your taking it to go! This place is definitely worth checking out!!! I HIGHLY recommend it!

Best pizza of all time. True Sicilian pizza, thin crust squares, not big thick doughy junk. The ultimate sauce, and just enough cheese. Their Bakery is unparalleled. Best Italian pastries in New England(with Mikes being second). My kids love their cakes for their birthdays. Last but not least, words cannot even begin to describe their bread! Best Italian stick you will ever have in your life, guaranteed. There is a reason this place has been around almost 100 years! My great grandfather went here. My family has been going here since the place was opened. It is a Lawrence Landmark!

So I am about to embarrass myself by divulging how many delicacies I have tried in my ONE trip there. That strawberry cake is lighter than air and so delicious I had no problem going back for a second(and quite large) piece. The strawberry leaves were so delicious and I must admit the only reason I tried them was because they were my favorite color. Not much of a cream or puff pastry kind of girl, I did not expect much when I bit into a creamhorn. I admit I was absolutely wrong and was so sad to see someone else snatch up the last one at the gathering we brought them to(and dreamed about them all the next day!)

We recently moved to Lawrence and quickly found this little bakery a few short blocks from our apartment. What a dangerous location! The cannolis are filled while you wait. Yes, that means they don’t sit there(like in those other bakeries in the heart of Boston) for any amount of time at all. Bova(in Boston) was my favorite cannoli. Tripoli takes the title for me now. We got a few other pastries, a rum something-or-other, and a whoopie pie. They were heavily packed with buttercream. I am not a buttercream fan, but that is not the only reason I am knocking it. It was a LOT of buttercream. I had never had a whoopie pie with buttercream, but it wasn’t pleasant. The pastry part of the pie and rum cake were delicious, but they were definitely ruined by the over 50%(volume estimate) of the cream. Prices are reasonable, possibly cheaper than Bova, definitely cheaper than Mike’s. We will be back for cannolis and to try some more pastries(without frosting!). I don’t doubt that I can give this establishment another star after trying some more of their not so heavily butter creamed treats.
