I was craving sushi AGAIN today, and I just missed Sushi Avenue, which closes after lunch at 2:30. I quickly went up the street to Kampai, and I think it was a good substitute. I had the Volcano Roll and Spicy Tuna Roll(tempura fried). Way too much for me to eat by myself, but I shared with my daughter. Although I took the sushi to go, and it was fried, it wasn’t soggy or soft when we ate it. It was still crispy. The Volcano Roll was delicious. Even though they used imitation crab instead of fresh, it was tasty and sweet. My daughter liked this one best. The Spicy Tuna Roll was pretty good. The tuna at Sushi Street seems to be much better quality, but it was pretty good. I added some eel sauce along with my wasabi and soy sauce, and it was pretty tasty. All together, not a bad lunch. Both rolls came to about $ 20 bucks and we were both pretty full. No complaints here!

The food was alright, however, service was poor. A larger family came in which forced us to move down & feel a bit left out. Our waiter than made matters worst with him poor attitude & lack of care. He didnt really service us food, he just placed the food to our sides and not in front of us. He never brought us chopsticks for our sushi, his serving skills were very much poor & despite seeing us visibly upset, he never made a genuine effort to apologize for his less than stellar service. He asked us what we wanted & when I turned to ask my mom, he turned around & began asking the people that came in after us, which put the cherry on top. Also someone became sick & vomited in front of the restroom door, which wouldn’t of been an issue had the food not of given me instant diarrhea, in which I had to run to Sprouts to take care of. I am so disappointed, I’ve been a customer since 2011, however, I will NOT be going back. I hate to give a bad review, but I just hope anyone who reads this strongly reconsiders dining at Kampai.

Food was ok. Nothing to complain about. Our bill was $ 89. We paid cash, a $ 100 and a $ 20. Our server was unable to make change for the $ 20. They brought back the $ 20 and $ 6.00 in quarters. We would have tipped well, but at this point we had little choice. While trying to figure out how to sort the situation we were told«do what you have to do» and our server walked away. Pretty annoying a restaurant could not produce change for $ 20. She was still annoyed, and we left a $ 24 tip. Kampai, you need change available at all times, for all shifts, for all patrons. Servers — don’t get upset that we didn’t have the means to break a $ 20. Being upset with customers is unreasonable.

Nice vibe, good service, mediocre food. I had the chicken and shrimp hibachi. I think for 21 plus dollars it should be above average. I can get the same meal for 10 dollars down the street. I also tried the calamari it was cooked in tempura batter. I did not like it.

Horrible experience at Hibachi table On Saturday my husband and sister ordered filet and two other members of our party ordered sirloin. Chef unbelievably combined filet mignon and sirloin steaks and served. Also vegetables served well before meats were finished. Worst of all called management on Monday to inform of experience told us there was nothing they could do. If you like Hibachi don’t go to Kampai.

#2 What a great sushi and hibachi experience. I was in town and met up with several old friends and this was our go-to spot. From the friendly greeting upon our arrival, to the wonderful ambience, to the stellar hibachi grill tables, everything was awesome. Our server met us with some warm sake and menus and offered a few specials. We ordered another sake bottle and some edamame to start. Next came the entrees. I do not even know how I chose between all the delicacies on the menu. Our chef met us with the usual BIG flaming fire thing on the hibachi grill that causes your mascara to melt. We asked for extra yum yum sauce – yes, yum yum sauce. It was really yum yum. We started with the calamari for the four of us and I began with tuna tartare that was absolutely divine(yes, I shared). It was served chilled with an egg yolk on top. The miso soup and house salad with ginger dressing was amazing. I had the usual nigiri for me: sake hamachi We had another order of tuna that was absolutely splendid, as if all the other food was not enough. We had fried rice, along side of our entrees. I had the lobster. I was super full and happy when I completed my meal. Stephani Smiles for Kampai ;) #yumyumsauceistodiefor

Yeah! Finally great sushi in snellville! We just moved from in town to the suburbs and it has been difficult to find the little eating treasure around this area of town! This place is the place! You have your choice of hibachi grill, sushi, and tapas! All of my favorite things! The quality is great and it tastes marvelous. Try their speciality sushi you will not be disappointed! Good eating!!!

First let me say that I love Japanese steakhouses. The food was really good on the hibachi. I have filet, shrimp and scallops. The yum yum sauce is just awesome! Dip that in everything. This time we went and the service was great.

This restaurant doesn’t even deserve the time it takes to type a bad review. Save your money, go somewhere else, or make a grill cheese sandwich at home. Bad service, ok food, overpriced.

Food was okay, the service was bad. Not the chef but the waiter., I guess not really his fault. There was four tables full of people and only one server. 20 minutes waiting we finally got drinks and didn’t even get our orders taken yet. Once the food was ordered the hibachi chef was okay. Then it took forever again to get our checks. Glad we just paid cash otherwise we would have to wait another 20 minutes. Food was typical hibachi food nothing spectacular. Would I come back? Maybe if I was craving for it and the other places around here were all packed and had long wait times. This would be my last choice of all the ones in this area.

Why did I come back here? Although the food was fine, the service wasn’t even awful — it was nonexistent. It was a Saturday night, so naturally it was busy. We walked in and 5 families were standing there waiting to be greeted. No employee in sight. It was just two of us, so we walked over to the bar. After almost 10 minutes of the bartender ignoring us, we asked for a menu. Our sushi came out quickly, but it took an additional 30 minutes for our chicken teriyaki to come. We saw multiple people/families come in, wait to be addressed, then leave because no one ever acknowledged them. There was also a lot of confusion among the employees – patrons being seated in the wrong section, etc. Total chaos. Severely understaffed – especially on a Saturday when everyone and their mama is out to eat. Think I learned my lesson and won’t be going back again. I’m serious this time.

«WTH», that’s what I said at the first bite. It’s a Korean owned restaurant who serve fake japanese food again. I ordered«age dashi tofu» as an appetizer, and and it was fried tofu soaked in sour rice vinegar. I almost blew it all out of my mouth because that was completely unexpected taste. It’s supposed to be soaked in a warm and sweet dashi-jiru. And it didn’t come with any garnishes like bonito flakes or chopped scallions. Or even if it did, it wasn’t edible. I came here with my work related people, so I couldn’t even stick the dish back the kitchen or make a scene. All other sushi was overly priced as if they are covering the liquor license they have to get. But quality of sushi was ok, and not impressive at all for the price we paid for. Never again.

Thanks to red robin having a wait, we decided on KAMPAI and we are so glad we did! Atmosphere was perfect! We came for Hibachi, but I didn’t want all the loudness/extra people surrounding us for dinner so we opted for a table just for us. We were still able to order hibachi from the table which made my night. I ordered the delicious shrimp hibachi and my dining partner had lobster/steak/shrimp… both came with veggies and fried rice.(Delicious) Our waiter was a cool guy who was excellent At what he does. He had no idea I was there checking out this place for the first time, also I was snapping pics of our food and he never once asked why. Toward the end I told him about Unilocal and I found out he is also a UnilocalER…(how cool) I was tempted to order the hot sake, but instead our waiter gave me a sample of it which wasn’t bad, but wasn’t good/tasty enough to order. Great meal/perfect atmosphere and awesome service…
