JUSTYOURAVERAGESHOPPER I walked into this store as just the average shopper browsing around. This was my first time really going into the store and they do much more than just sell items, they are able to answer questions and provide assistance with sports related gear. I was just interested in looking at their clothing and footwear, particularly since we are at the end of the season and bargains abound. I noticed that they seemed to have more clothing,(on the main floor), that had nothing to do with sports, they were just casual items. As I looked through the clothing, I did not recognize any of the brands but did see that they were overpriced for the type of fabrics. I would have understood if these were made of a well known quality brand such as Columbia, but this was not the case. The perimeter of the store carried actual sports related gear such as backpacks, sport sandals, swim wear, fitness gear and other equipment. It was weird and looked like two stores rolled into one. Their sport sandals seemed to be higher in cost than ones that I recently priced at REI. The store currently has BOGO signs all over but I would just prefer to get a sale on any individual item I may want to purchase. I am starting to really dislike these signs because they attempt to manipulate you into buying more than you want or need and you only benefit from a discount under certain conditions. In this area Sun and Ski may be the only option available for a specialty store of this nature, so just check it out for yourself. It just may strike a chord!

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with being a poor man’s REI(and let’s face it, after leaving that store, we’re ALL poor), so when I walked into Sun & Ski for a bicycle helmet and saw the size/selection, I was excited. Sun & ski has great deals on all of their merchandise, from clothing, to helmets, to accessories because they heavily reduce their items sometimes up to 50% off depending on what you’re after. Customer service walks that very narrow line of not hovering around you to pounce, but conveniently being there when you have a question about something. Better still, they know their stuff, and that goes a long way. Located in the Sugarloaf mills mall, parking is never scarce and they keep mall hours. I did walk out with a helmet, that seemed pretty nice quality especially for the price. Will definitely find myself back here. Great store

As a beginner, it’s intimidating to go get your own gear, but the rentals at the ski resorts for boarders are about as useful as a 2×4, and the people who do your bindings always seem to set me up so that I have NO control of what I’m doing. An employee called over Amy to help me with my board selections, and this girl really knows her stuff. She showed me all sorts of different boards, boots, and bindings and helped me with everything for at least 2 hours. Best. Customer. Service. Ever. She hooked me up with a beautiful super flexible board that’s perfect for me and what I’m intending on doing with it. The pricing of everything I got was insanely inexpensive for the quality and amount of gear. I don’t think I’ll shop anywhere else for my gear in the future. If your a new snow boarder, you have to go see her. She is seriously the most personable and helpful person I’ve ever met in a ski shop.

I have to update this to give props to my man Tom.(Not literally my man — just THE man for snow sports at Sun and Ski.) I went back in to get my bindings mounted to my board, and he gave me so much great information. He was very patient, showed me all the aspects of my board and bindings(since I’m a total NOOB), and mounted the bindings right in front of me so I could see how to adjust them later if need be. He also told me about the standard maintenance schedule for a board, etc. And he said he knows MORE about skiing, so if you have questions about snowboarding or skiing equipment, ASKFORTOM. He’s the shit.
