This is my second review of this place and nothing has changed, it’s still among the best fish and chips in the country and considering the prices, it’s pretty tough to beat.(I retired last year from a 40 year career flying corporate jets across the US and around the world and I’ve eaten at the best rated restaurants on the company expense account and when it comes to fish and chips this place is authentic and as good as any place you’ll find in England or the US.) This past week, in addition to fish and chips, I tried their fried oysters. Maybe it the Cajun in me, but they were as good as any fried oysters that I ever ate in Louisiana. For a «hole in the wall» fish and chips place it just doesn’t get much better than this. Maybe one day I’ll try some of their other menu items, but it’s hard for me to pass up any opportunity to eat good authentic fish and chips.

The owner contacted me that the fish is fresh and battered there. They make hand cut fries. I’ll go back on another trip and give it another chance. This may be an abnormal meal, but it’s still what I tasted and my wife agreed with. — — — — — — — — — - As a restaurant, it’s just OK. As a total place to fill up on your Brit needs, it’s very good. Especially for being in the middle of nowhere. I read some great things so I make a special effort to get by as part of a trip to Idaho. I’d just been to London a couple times in the last couple months, so I didn’t need to refill my home candy isle. It was all about the food. Hmmm… The fish and chips taste and look like they are from good quality frozen pre battered fillets. Think Trident PubHouse Battered Cod Fillets. The fries(not chips) are the same. If that’s not the case, they need to up their game. It could just be that I’d had fish and chips several time in London in the last few weeks. Even the fish and chips at the company cafeteria was better. The pies are from the freezer that you can purchase from and reheated. Once you drop your expectations to that level, they do a great job. Since I put a lot of trust in Stuart, perhaps it’s worth one more visit.

Fish was very good, but under-seasoned. The kids loved the chicken strips! The batter was delicious and authentic. The major problem were the fries. Not fresh tasting, not crisp, not salted. They are very close to being great, but not quite there.

Hands down the best fish and chips we’ve ever had. The food is fresh and made to order, but we didn’t have to wait long before we had our plates.

The food is fantastic, I love the signature fish and chips. Great little place with a whole lot of atmosphere. It’s fun to browse all the imported packages while you wait.

Waking in here was confusing at first, I was not sure if I was supposed to seat myself by walking through the mini store or wait to be seated. I realized after looking around that I was supposed to order at the register then seat myself. I decided for my first time here to get the combo meal since I love both shrimp and fish. This item was about the most expensive on the menu at just under 10.00. I added a drink and total cost was just over 12.00. I waited only about 5 to 8 minutes and I was delivered a plate full of goodness. There was a good amount of fries, 3pieces of fish, and 3 pieces of shrimp. They Also brought out a cup of tarter sauce and a cup of cocktail sauce. The malt vinegar and ketchup are at the tables. The plate was a beautiful sight. I dove in and tried the chips(fries)first and the texture indicated to me they are cut fresh, not the frozen type. They had a good crunch and like most thick cut fries like this they lose their crunch fast. By the time my meal was over they were not as crunchy, but still good. My advice is eat as many fries at first to enjoy them before they lose their crunch. My next item to try was the shrimp and it did not disappoint. The crunch on the beading was everything I’d hoped for, the brown coloring was perfect and the shrimp was perfectly cooked. I tried them with cocktail sauce and without and I was not a fan of their cocktail sauce so I ate most of my shrimp without it. Up next was the fish. I’m not sure what kind it is but it was a flaky white meat and it was really good too. The crunch was perfect, just like the shrimp, there was not any uncooked breading which can cause a doughy layer between the fish and beading. Another winner! I also tried the fish alone, with tarter sauce, and with the malt vinegar. I thought the fish was good on its own but the tarter sauce was the best I’ve ever had and complimented the fish perfectly. I’m not a huge fan of malt vinegar but it was good with it too. Overall it was a really good experience. The guy running the register was really nice and seemed to love his job. Give this place a try, you will like it.

This place was really good. I’ve enjoyed their fish and chips. The mushy peas weren’t the best I’ve had but they are still good. I go back when I’m in the mood!

Love this place, owned and operated from a lovely English couple. The fish ‘n chips are to die for and they have a little shop with British sweets and treats. Definitely worth the try!

I’m so happy we finally ate at this place! We had the large Fish N Chips and it was amazing with Malt Vinegar and Tartar sauce! They give you a punch card to get the 10th one free! The texture of everything was perfection. I like how their quaint little store included items from commonwealth countries. I am dying to go back to try their pasties and other items! The staff is so fun to talk to and service was fast and efficient!

Best fried fish I’ve ever eaten! Super crunchy and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend doesn’t like fish, so he ordered the chicken sandwich, it’s a basic sandwich with just the chicken, the bun, and a side of ranch. Probably just to have an option for people who don’t like fish.

Finally made it to this place, after quite a while of passing it right on by and never noticing it was there. Unless you’re looking for it directly, you probably will do this as well. The signage is far too small for the name of the place. As to that name, it is dead on the money. Everything in there is British, from the shrine to Diana, to British shows on the telly, to the Union Jack adoring every tabletop(maybe not that), the place smelling a lot of the«foot»(malt) vinegar and to the most delectable fried fish I’ve had in Utah. As far as fish and chips go, this is among the best of the fish part of that I’ve ever had. The chips(fries) were a sort of sordid soggy mess and I wish I’d known or thought of that Piccadilly chip thing(maybe next time), as they were not on the menu and it didn’t occur to me(nor did I see any actual plates) that they would dish out those lackluster fries. Ah well, fries aren’t so wonderful health-wise…especially when you’re tucking into an expanded plate of fried shrimp and fish. Those pieces were large, quite lovely and done to perfection. Brilliant. I skipped the tartar and had a side of mayo, which worked in a nice complementary fashion quite well with the cocktail sauce, itself somewhat of a marvel. I also had the steamed pudding(cupcake) in custard(runny), which was good, if very, very sweet. That served as a good foil to my black tea, which was probably the worst thing I had, somewhat bitter and inexplicably only got 2⁄3 of a cup. This place is REALLY concerned about cost and take great pains to mention that nearly everywhere, including a sign grousing about what credit card companies charge. Given their prices, not sure how much leverage they have to whinge about it, but there you are. They are overall friendly, but not especially warm, if that makes sense. Parking is also somewhat of a pain and it’s quite limited for seating inside. The import area, while not quite up to the place in Salt Lake, is another really cool sort of novel thing. Lots of things to pore over, but most of them are of the sweet variety and the whole thing is heavily oriented towards treats. They also have import sodas as well, but Britain is not known for being a hotbed of cuisine, so choices there can only go so far. Unless you really are into fish and chips, this is probably not a destination stop, but if you’re in the area, you can definitely do way, way worse…

LAYTON, UT: Excited to finally get a chance to stop in at Little Taste of Britain, the only British restaurant I’ve encountered almost anywhere. Of course I just ordered the fish and chips, tried ‘em straight up with malt vinegar. The service was terrific, the people were nice and the décor was kitschy authentic. Stop in and try the fare!

I am not a big fish eater but on occasion I will order fish and chips. The fish and chips here were pretty good, not too fish, not greasy and their tarter sauce has good flavor. The chips were fresh and tasty, we also ordered the picadilly chips and they too were good, better than some we got at another establishment which were soaking in grease and uneatable. I ordered up some mushy peas to go with the meal, they were OK but nothing I will be running back for. We will probably return when we get that rare craving for some good fish and chips.

Absolutely the best British food in the region! Their authentic fish and chips are to die for and the staff is polite. The place captures the feeling of a small British pub, perfect for bringing groups of four or less unless you want to just stuff yourself with good food alone.

English family here, from Liverpool, and… QUITEIMPRESSED! The food is great, yes there is similar pub grub out there, but not at this price. Each plate is about $ 10 and the portions are hefty. Note, for people not familiar with British fish ‘n’ chips, the chips(aka fries) are supposed to be a bit soft and NOT crunchy! Don’t compare them to your American fast food French fries :) Secondly, another reviewer complained about paying for extra tartar sauce, but it only cost 10 cents for an extra cup of it… Not terribly outrageous, right. The establishment is clean, offers plenty of dining space for families, and even larger groups. They also sell British specialty items, which can be a special treat.

Yum! Found this little gem while out and about in Layton. The shop has lots of Brittish goods for sale including candies, chocolate, and grocery items. That alone is worth a bunch of stars! I’m a great fan of Jammie Dodgers, which can only be found across the pond. I have been here twice. The first time I ordered a Beef and Onion Pie with chips. It was good — but made elsewhere and heated up here, so I wasn’t terribly impressed. I also had some fish — and that was excellent! Nicely battered, perfectly fried. A little light on the seasoning in the batter, but I do like a well-seasoned batter and few places live up to my standards in that regard. I also had a can of Ginger Beer — why is this not sold in the states? It beats Ginger Ale out the door and up the street! The second time I came in, I had a sausage roll and clam chowder. Again — these were made elsewhere and heated up here. I don’t give them terribly high marks, except for the novelty of the sausage roll.(You can also buy these things frozen to take home with you.) They’re authentic, but it would be nice if they served homemade Brittish food. My companion on my second visit had the fish and chips, and again, wow! They were excellent. We also tried a Burdock and Dandelion soda — it was a novel experience, but too flowery for me. I’m sure one could develop a taste for it. The service was good, the place is nice and clean, and the parking lot is tiny, and always nearly full. A popular place, and I’d go back there again for sure. They have Jammie Dodgers!

This is the best Fish n Chips you can get!!! We don’t understand the people who did not like this place. We read review and we went for Fish’n Chips tonight. First we thought this is very cozy grocery store but eating place is right side. Servers are very polite and friendly and price is very reasonable. One of server told us that they get fresh fish, they cut filet and deep fly it. We eat fish a lot so we can tell it was fresh. In Salt Lake city, you pay twice much and get frozen, tough and no favor fish with huge butter. This place, you will doubt what you see on your plate. Huge portion. Definitely we will recommend anybody to try this place!

I first found out about this place through a co-worker, and have been there a few times with different people since then. This whole place was decorated with a British theme, tiny wooden cabin with British stuff hanging all over the place. My only complain about the décor is that they have an Ireland flag, a Scotland flag, and a Wales flag, but no England flag, just a UK flag… It could just be a British thing? They carry a small British item store section aside from their restaurant service. You can browse through them while you are waiting for your food, and they have various(assuming) imported item from Britain like chocolates and red teas. I went with the Fish and Chips almost every single time. I am not an expert on it, but after trying this dish in various places in Utah, I can say with confidence that they got the best of all. The fish was lightly breading, still crunchy on the outside, yet moisture on the inside. It was not the best fish I ever had, but good enough for a landlocked state like Utah. I also had the chance to test out the mushy pea recommended by Stuart M., and I told them«English Guacamole», which they took a bit offense by it. The texture did taste like guacamole, but flavor wise resemble green peas. Other interesting items like Deep Fried Twinkie… which looks real fatten with the twinkie sucking the grease during the process. Perhaps I will try that on a depressing day… Little Taste of Britain is truly a little place that gives you an authentic taste of British cuisine, which does not exist according to the French: P
