The old Waffle House has been torn down and a brand new one is being built in the exact same spot. It should be finished and opened by the middle of June.

Waffle House is one of the most underrated establishments in all of America. They are always open and there’s almost always one near when you are traveling. I really enjoy local boutique diners but when you are out on the road and don’t know the area and can’t seem to find anything nearby and a Waffle House pops up you should prepare for a treat! The Pecan Waffle is amazing. it’s not artificially flavored or anything it’s just a waffle with pecans in it. When I get mine I like to cover it in margarine. I do wish they had real butter but the margarine is close enough. Once I have a fair coating of butter I like to drown it completely in syrup. My wife enjoys the sandwiches that are served at Waffle House and while those aren’t something I would generally order they always look like they are pretty well made when she gets them. Waffle House is delicious and cheap I can’t say enough good things about it and if you need a quick pit stop while out on the road its generally your best choice!

Food was ok, the waffle was thin and lifeless which is sad since this is the«waffle house» The guy waiting our table(a teenager) was not very attentive but I didn’t have high expectations going in. One thing I’ll complain about is that there was an unexplainable extra charge of $ 1.85 on our ticket and the kid said it was for my son’s kids drink. My son got a kids meal and it says on menu a kid’s drink is included in price, despite me pointing this out he just said«I’m sorry, I can reduce it to $ 1.50 if you want». Well, he should’ve removed it but didn’t and this leads me to believe people don’t tip them and they’re trying to write in their tip on the bill. I tipped an additional amount despite this fact, if he needs the $ 1.85 that bad then so be it. I did pay with cash because if that is sketchy to me I’m surely not handing my credit card over. I hadn’t ate here since I was a small child and it was much better then, I don’t have a real reason to come back this time either.

We walked into this Waffle House tonight 8÷12÷15 at 12 – 12:30am ish there were two employees on duty one that was on break out in front of the store all were on their phones and no customers were in the restaurant. And before I was even greeted by any employees I was greeted by dirty dishes across the counter. We sat for about 5 seconds and left and as we left the young lady outside asked why we weren’t staying to eat and we told her why we weren’t eating. She proceeded to tell me that her section was clean and somewhat apologized. I don’t expect much from a Waffle House but this was not acceptable I figured that if they weren’t cleaning the tables then there were other things that weren’t clean and lost my appetite immediately. I hope this gets corrected soon because I’m going to have to drive to Pasadena or nasa road for Waffle House.

Someone take Pam off the register! Great girl/waitress but doesn’t need to be behind that thing if you want happy customers!

My review is mainly due to the waitress I had, Pamela. She was awesome. She had my drinks right away, never had to wait for a refill. The food was normal Waffle house food, never great but never bad. My waitress though was awesome and was what you would expect at a fine dinning restaurant.

Walked in and place was full and nobody eating. The cook line looked backed up, yet two cooks grab assing and laughing. Lady employee leaning by the door explaine that it’s a 15 min wait as if she wanted us to leave. We decided to wait and 15 min later not a lot of progress was made. I asked lady by door if we can order coffee while we wait and she told me that she is not allowed to do that. We decided to leave and she was glad to take our names off the list.

A two-egg breakfast plate with hash browns, toast, and milk for only about $ 5 gets four stars in my book. However, the dirtiness of this restaurant cannot be described in words. There were dirty plates all over the bar(where I sat), and since you can see the kitchen, the griddle was greasy, a wet dirty towel was underneath the griddle with a plate, and I could go on. There’s no one to wash the dishes, so the wait staff does it. I just hope they wash their hands very thoroughly. Furthermore, the hash browns were soggy on the inside, the white bread used is a cheap Sunshine bread you can buy in the grocery store, and the eggs were small. However, is it so dirty and unappealing that I will be deterred from returning? Nope.

Food gets 4 stars. Service usually gets 4 stars.(All relative of course, I am judging Waffle House here). Sanitary practices earn 0 stars. We went for waffles one recent evening, and when we arrived, one of the cooks was behind the counter mopping. We placed our order(which included bacon), and the cook put the mop and bucket to the side and began preparing our meal… WITHOUTWASHINGHISHANDS!!! He handled the raw bacon with his bare hands, threw it on the skillet, and began handling the other cooking implements with his bare hands, which now were dirty from mopping AND handling raw bacon. And what did he do after he was done cooking? He went back to mopping, again, without ever having washed his hands. Yes, it’s Waffle House. But ANYONE who handles and prepares food at ANY restaurant should be held to a standard of washing hands and preventing cross-contamination. There is an advantage to being able to see the food preparation out in the open at the Waffle House. Just makes me cringe what goes on at this and other restaurants behind closed doors!

Just as a preface, this is not Midtown or Rice Village, so you need to appreciate the local«character» of this area before venturing over. Or just be intoxicated and oblivious if that is how you want to roll — your choice. When I heard«Let’s go to Waffle House!» My first mental image contained a gaggle of good ‘ol boys with Confederate flag tattoos, spitting chewing tobacco(«dip») haphazardly(not even at or near a spittoon, c’mon) and eying cityslicker outsiders like the kind of look you see in the eyes of most of the cast of the film American History X. As it often turns out, maybe that was a bit overdramatic. The situation was much better in the real world when we walked over after finishing our hookah next door. For starters: our waitress had all of her teeth and no visible swastika tattoos. You really don’t need to cue the banjo. In the pantheon of possible worlds and topsy-turvy twists and turns that she could have taken in her life, I think serving breakfast at midnight to an amusingly eclectic conglomeration of mischievous young adults/college-aged at midnight was not her first choice. Notwithstanding that fact, AnnaLe(I think that’s how she spelled it, I had a late night) provided great service to everyone at the table. She was nice and friendly, kept checking in on us at appropriate times, refilled drinks, and in a rare burst of unanimity the entire table agreed that we had better service here than we had ever had at iHop. Which as far as pancake worship goes, means a lot. We weren’t comparing it to Denny’s or the truckstop men’s room pancake dispenser: we were sizing it up to the big daddy corporate chain of the pancake world, Mr. iHop himself. I had the sausage gravy biscuit. All ingredients were there. The biscuit is large, like, very American. It was good. It was not my typical thing to eat at midnight or ever, especially with Taco Bell nearby it felt like I was cheating on the old ball and chain that makes a mean burrito. However the group decided to do Waffle House and I tagged along. I am glad I was willing to expand my horizons. It was my first trip to the House of Waffles.

Well… it’s a waffle house so you know what you are getting yourself in to. This one is pretty typical. My only issue would be that the bacon was hit or miss. Some pieces would be tasty and crispy and the next piece would be soggy and not so tasty. It was about 10am on a work day, so the place wasn’t that crowded, I’m guessing they mixed in some old bacon with the new. Other than that, the service was great and the waffles were excellent as always!

I used to totally not give Waffle House the light of day. But for the past couple of months i’ve warmed up to them. The best dining experience was at this location. After a long night of fishing at Galveston, about 4 am i decided i needed to not fall asleep and die on the road. And behold a Waffle House. The place was deserted and not an employee in sight. I drove around the back to park and there they were… chilling near the back door, taking a break. I walk in and they were there ready to assist in my hunger needs. Breakfast food is good anytime especially when fresh. Its nice that you can also can see cooks cook the food unlike some other places. Anyways so i thought it would be a boring meal consisting of them being bored and watching me eat, but instead they blasted the music up and had a great time cooking, cleaning and rinsing down the counters. At one point they had a water fight with the sink spray nozzle. I had no problem with it at all. Breakfast and entertainment. They staff were very attentive and considerate to me and managed to not get me wet when i thought i would have been splattered. I ordered the AllStar Special. It was good. Of all things, i dont like the Waffles here. But the grits are great. Anyways, if there happens to be any Waffle House corporate people reading this… the employees of this night were great regardless of their actions. I would defintely come again and hope to see them there again.

Went to this location this morning with the family. Yes I know it IS a Waffle House, but the service and food were excellent. The place was very busy. We had to wait a few minutes for a table. As soon as one was open the bus boy cleaned it immediately and we were able to sit down. All of the food was done perfectly. These guys have their act together. Give them a try if you are looking for breakfast in the area.
