When in need of an paving and repair company, my husband and I found a recommendation on Unilocal for Ashphalt Paving and Maintenance out of Leandar. We called the owner, Gene Williams, and explained what we needed. Gene said that he could come to Bastrop and discuss what was needed for our driveway and provide us an estimate.
Gene was very professional and explained the process of a chip and seal application on our driveway. He answered all of our questions and concerns at the time of the estimate. At the time of application, Gene and his team showed up and worked at a very professional level. Each team member was very polite and answered our questions and concerns.

After dealing with contractors of all sorts for the past 2 years, I have come to lower my expectations. I’ve found that if you want a job done, you will have to call 5 contractors and 2 will get back with you. Of these 2, only 1 will actually come out to do the quote. And once you’ve started with this contractor, you will be lucky to have good communication and on time work completed. This is not the case with Gene Williams and his crew.
From the moment I contacted Gene for a chip seal road to the completion of the work, Gene was always available, provided feedback whenever needed and did not bid some outlandish cost for the job. On the day of the job he showed up prepared to work and completed the work as agreed upon in our contract. He also went above and beyond the contract by raising a gate’s height for me and making sure drainage was addressed. At no time did Gene say no whenever I asked him to do some small chore that I asked him to do in conjunction with the job.
If you’re searching for a paving company you will find that they all have pretty similar pricing due to the cost of tar, oil, and other materials. Some will even underbid for the job. I can tell you that I spoke with 3 – 4 local businesses that do chip seal and after all was said and done, went with Asphalt Paving and Maintenance for one reason. Gene Williams.
