Mayo Family Dentistry is great — father & 2 sons. I moved to VA in Oct ’14 and within a few weeks I needed a root canal in a hurry! The practice happened to have a cancellation and got me in with one of the sons, Greg Mayo. He did a great job.
Then again in Feb ’15 I had a crowned molar tooth break off (wouldn’t you know it was just when I was flossing)! Thank goodness the nerve had been removed with a root canal years ago — so there was no pain. The office got me in the next day and Dr Greg was able to put in a post and build it up so he can put in a new crown. I am so thankful!
I strongly recommend this practice. They are a small family firm, but seem to do a lot of business.

I used this practice for more than 30 years and was very happy with the services of Steve Mayo. I left his practice because I could not be sure that either of his sons were going to provide the level of service and caring that I received in the past. For example, I came in to the office only twice in 30 years for a non-​routine issue. Both times were within the past 2 years. The first visit I had pain that appeared to be caused by my teeth. Dr. Ryan said to me «I don’t need this on a Friday afternoon.» He was unable to discern the etiology and therefore I was to blame. The second visit, I stopped by to ask a question about a dental issue that was concerning. The office was empty. The receptionist went back to see if anyone would talk briefly with me, and the answer was «no.» So this left me with the impression that they really want your business. However, when you need their help, they will not be there for you.
