We were at the Irish Pub, where a couple was playing Uno or some shit AT the bar. That is prime drinking space wasted. Also, we couldn’t get served. Ever. So we went to the Sweet Shoppe and the first thing I heard when I walked in was a guy saying«if he comes in here tonight I might go to jail.» This is evidence that the bar you’re in is a place where the professional drinkers hang out. It’s always cheap, stays open late, and is just dive-y enough without being a health hazard. The last time I was in there the power went out in town, and me and everybody else just kept drinking. I think they finally found some candles. Somebody started the music again by youtubing on their iphone. I said, loudly, that I was good so long as I can see just enough to pour from my pitcher. I could, and everything was fine. My eyes adjusted. A place gets five stars for giving you the most surreal drinking experience ever.

Long, skinny dive bar frequented by locals. Cool fish tank, cheap drinks, and the best crinkle cut fries and chicken chunks in the world. Music every weekend, no cover. Plenty of TVs to watch the game. Go on a Wednesday and catch Corey Lee hosting open mic night. I tend to avoid Thursday karaōke.

Not as lively, popular or quite as entertaining as the Irish Pub, but still a very fun bar experience in Lewisburg. They make good use of their space and often have live music, making it a popular spot for students from the local osteopathic medical school as well as locals. Not many tourists, who probably fully overlook the small doorway or else think by its name that it’s a candy store. They didn’t have any music the night I was there(probably because it was still early in the evening) but from their posters and flyers it appears they get a lot of good regional bluegrass and folk revival bands here. Certainly worth checking out, and everyone here is very outgoing and friendly, too.

Mr. Yarid’s long gone but an assortment of eclectic hangers-on remain(if not the same ones that populated the old place). There’s a bar in back, seats upfront(the performance space) and a misplaced kitchen between, linked by the narrowest of passages. .. odd describes it all…but not a bad ‘odd’, just the kind of place you’d expect downstairs in a major city, only here its on the upside. .. hmmm. The bar is cozy, the performance space cramped and the staff welcoming. Great place to stop in for a beer or mixed drink, smooze a little, catch a bit a music and move on down the street after an hour or so. Don’t know about the food.

It can get a bit smoky in there, but the Sweet Shoppe has some really good music.
