This place is great! The French Goat is a good little venue with a great atmosphere and wonderful wait staff. Mike C was probably the most attentive waiter we’ve had in a while. The wife and I got the hushpuppies which were good, but not sure I’d get them again. The biggest winners for us were the Cheese plate and the Beef Bourgenion! The assortment of cheeses and the candied dates and honeycomb was phenomenal! The beef was amazing the meat was cooked PERFECTLY and the sauce and vegetables were cooked very well. I also got the onion soup which was also worth a try. Everything from the greeting to the dessert was awesome! We WILL be back!

We had such a magical evening at this restaurant. It was our first trip to Lewisburg and were looking for something near the Greenbriar and came upon The French Goat through a recommendation and happened to reserve a table during there«Inaugural Wine Night». The food and wine were a dream … the Smoked Quail Egg Crème Brûlée was my all time favorite that I am still thinking about! We felt so welcomed into this lovely town the moment we arrived and were greeted by the openers themselves and shown to our table where we met several other Lewisburg locals who’ve been dining here since it opened. Lewisburg is such a charming town and I look forward to returning again soon, visiting more of their local establishments and of course visiting this restaurant again as well.

Celebrated my birthday here with some of my closest friends. Dinner was amazing and staff was even better. My wife and I were staying at the Greenbrier and after eating here the first night quickly canceled dinner plans the following night at there resort and came back for round two. We can’t wait to go back in the spring.

If you like French food go here. Great flavors, pleasant ambience, interesting and interested staff. The salads were deliciously delicate. Steak frites wonderful and the cheese just what you’d expect. C’est magnifique!

This place is excellent. Traditional French bistro in what was once deemed the coolest small town in America. Quiet and quaint, perfect atmosphere. I dined on their amazing Onion soup and tender, delicious Bouef Borgignon with potato purée. The portions are perfect, not an abundance of food that makes you leave miserable. Even dessert was a small, perfectly sized, delicious cup of maple custard with candied pecans and bourbon whipped cream. If you’re driving through or here for a weekend getaway make this place a spot for dinner. You will be more than satisfied.

First things first. It’s going to be difficult to find food at this level in WV. This is a place that you would expect to find in a large city. Don’t think I have had this level of quality food or service anywhere else in the state, and I live here. We started out with the mussels, which were perfectly done and went great with the bread and sea salt laced butter. I had the steak frites and the lady had scallops. Everything was perfectly executed. They also had really great cocktails. Bottom line: outside of maybe the Greenbrier, you will not get this level of dining anywhere else unless you want to drive to perhaps Charlotte, Pittsburgh or DC. A final note: while not exactly cheap, the prices are very reasonable considering what you get.

Lovely owners. Great wine selection and price. Food to remember. Excellent. We will be back simply for their French Onion soup, obviously made with freshly roasted bones.

Who knee a small town in beautiful West Virginia had such an amazing French restaurant? We walked in the door and were greeted warmly by the entire staff and made to feel right at home, which is ironic, because the restaurant is actually in a beautifully restored house. The location is just right as well. Less than one block off the main drag, with plenty of parking in the lot across the street. The food is amazing. Perfectly prepared with beautiful presentation. Service is second to none, with very attentive staff meeting and exceeding all our needs and expectations. We were only in town for three nights. I wish we’d found this place sooner! A word of caution though, if you want a table, make sure to make reservations. We arrived at 715pm on a Saturday, and the restaurant was packed(with very good reason). We did not have a reservation, so we sat in the bar area and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

I went with a group of friends last week and was so pleased with the service, atmosphere, and of course the food! Highly recommend the duck confit, escargot hushpuppies, and onion soup! Our group also tried all of the desserts and they were phenomenal — my favorite was the maple custard! Very pleased with The French Goat opening in town — everyone there was so friendly and grateful, will definitely be returning.
