We were unfortunate enough to have visited this place just before it closed – and the visit epitomized why it should be. I do remember visiting Mimi’s right after it opened several years ago – it was packed, lively, with good food and a great atmosphere. However, on the Sunday afternoon we last visited, it was dead. Just us and maybe 2 other tables. Our waitress was the worst thing about the visit. She was awkward to the point of unfriendliness. My order came with a Caesar salad… which was served without any dressing. The fact that she even served it to me was questionable, but I let it slide and asked her for some dressing. «What kind of dressing?» 1000 mental facepalms. «…Caesar.» After waiting for about five minutes without dressing(a lot of time considering we were her only table and seated very close to the kitchen) I start glancing around the restaurant for her. She is shooting the breeze with the other server, who are both leaning against the wall as if they have nothing better to do. Talking, laughing, smiling. I turn back to my salad and just start eating it dry. FINALLY, as I am just about to finish my salad, she brings my Caesar dressing and giggles«Oops, I’m sorry. I forgot to tell them you needed Caeser.» I myself was a server for 4 years. I have forgotten my fair share of customer requests… I would never a.) simply say«I forgot» like it’s acceptable b.) make light of it. At this point I was not looking forward to our entrees. However, our entrees turned out to be edible. Not great. Nothing that would bring us back here, but edible.

I have been a patron of Mimi’s for more than 10 years. Let me tell you that almost everything on the menu is yummy. There are some items that could change, such as not using canned blueberries on the Pain Perdu. However, my satisfaction for this place far outweighs any negatives. The booths are a little snug, and if you get seated in the back, sometimes the service is a tad sketchy. However, if you can, ask for Joaquin. He is the best waiter… ever! He’s also a tad flamboyant and colorful, making him a joy to talk too. Remember, if you go on Saturday or Sunday mornings, this place can be packed. They have call-ahead seating, so use that. I recommend their awesome muffins, the croissants(albeit a bit pricy at $ 2.99), the eggs benedict, and the cinnamon brioche french toast. Also, the mimosas on the weekeng are a big hit.

Consistently horrible service! We only go when we have free coupons, and still are sorely disappointed. The food is decent but clearly overpriced, and the free bread is phenomenal. But their servers are pathetically unattentive, never to be found, never friendly, never prompt, never enthusiastic. Just NOT worth earning even a 15% tip. They must make their business off luring people free bread… AND, there are NO brunch spots anywhere in northern Texas!

This restaurant has changed in the past few years, I wasn’t impressed with my experience this time around. The calamari could have used more flavor, nothing stood out about it. I ordered the strawberry and walnut salad with grilled chicken, it was decent, but they didn’t listen to me when I said no tomatoes. It was $ 5 glasses of wine the time I went, so that was a plus side of it. My friend ordered the Mediterranean salad, and it made her sick! I’m not sure I will be back unless they change their menus sand improve on their service.

Decent breakfast/lunch selections. We much have caught on a bad day. They were on a wait with open tables everywhere. Service was slow and a beating. Our server was very overwhelmed. Bathrooms needed attention and very messy. Lastly, our kids plate came out of the kitchen on an extremely hot plate. Sad.

Food is very creative, very good! Their problem is with their service. However really hard dinging the waitstaff on their service when it was quite evident management was more involved with the hockey game on the tv… We’ll give this place one more try — strictly because the food was so great; fingers crossed their service significantly improves.

Sorry to say things have changed since our review in 2012, and definitely not for the better. Our recent Saturday morning experience was not good at all. In general, have two basic requirements for restaurants I patronize: 1. The hot food must be served HOT, or at least very warm, and have the appearance of being freshly-prepared, and not being merely warmed-over, defrosted, or left out to sit on a shelf for half an hour. 2. My order must be ACCURATE — for example, if I ask for no peppers in my omelet, I expect no peppers to be added. Not just green or red ones, NONE. Unfortunately, there were abject failures on BOTH counts. My dish was barely lukewarm, and did not appear to freshly prepared at all. Mrs. Bear’s dish contained items she specifically requested to be left out, which rendered the dish unfit for her consumption. The only good thing we had was the espresso and the latte. There are too many excellent restaurants in the DFW area to suffer such mediocrity, so we are giving this place a long rest.

Came to Mimi restaurant because everywhere else had an hour or more wait. This place was empty. Our server told us Mimi was recently bought out by La Madeline. The menu is now French. We waited for HOURS(at least 25 minutes) for our food. When it finally comes, they’re out of most of the veggies so they bring us both broccoli. When we said we wanted something else, she took our plates back… and that was 10 minutes ago. No wonder the place is empty.

I’ve been to a couple of the other Mimi’s Café locations and finally decided to write about my experience at this location. I came here for lunch with two other coworkers on a not-so busy day. After being seated, it took our waitress so long to come and take our orders. I ordered the Spinach Salad with Grilled Salmon and I asked to have the dressing on the side. 30 minutes later when the salad finally came out, it was drenched in salad dressing. If it weren’t for me being on my lunch break, I would have sent it back, but we had already been there over 45 minutes, so I didn’t want to wait any longer. I only ate the salmon because the spinach was inedible due to all of the sweet vinaigrette all over it. The salmon was dry and extremely overcooked. It took so long for the waitress to bring the check that I started putting on my coat to give her a hint that we needed to go. The service was slow and inattentive. I have no reason to ever return here.

Went for dinner a couple months ago and was so not impressed. We had the mushroom sampler appetizer, crab cakes and grilled fish. App: tasteless and you could tell it was frozen. not fresh at all Crab Cakes: ok. Fish: dry, returned back to kitchen and ordered crab cakes. Atmosphere: ok for a café. They could do without the fake french accent.(i know. my first language was french)

UPDATE: OUTOFBUSINESS(probably because no one could ever find it.) 2504 S I35 is the correct street addy. Don’t let your GPS give you the run-a-round. This section of DFW highway has been under construction for many years and can be quite confusing. GPS will probably have you circle a few times for the hell of it and then try to slide you into Chili’s instead. Might be a good idea to go in. I wish I had. Mimi’s chopped Asian salad was MehMeh. Iceberg lettuce! Tasted like it had been frozen and definitely was pre-made. Not delicious. Mocha latte’ was quite possibly Nestle’ Quik and water. Service was perfunctory. Sufficient yet cold. Unimpressed.

One of my most favorite breakfast places to go. And since they serve breakfast all day long, I can have a great breakfast any time of the day. My favorite is 3 egg white omelet with spinach, onion, tomato, feta with cheddar on top! :)

In a word … Muffins!!! Be sure to get something that comes with a muffin; they’re the best you’ll ever have. Omelettes, quiches, salads … all come with a muffin. Four consistent choices(carrot raisin, buttermilk spice, honey bran, blueberry), and a seasonal choice – currently cinnamon apple streusel. This Mimi’s location has particularly great service. I’ve tried nearly everything on the menu and have never been disappointed, but it’s the muffins that will keep you coming back.

The food made up for the«meh» service. Our waiter lacked personality and frankly forgot about us. But I did enjoy the food enough to say I’d be willing to give it another try. I had the lunch soup and sandwich combo. I chose the roasted tomato basil soup and some 5 cheese outrageous grilled cheese sandwich thing. While reviewing the menu I saw a few other plates I’d be willing to try. My overall take, the soup wasn’t hot enough but the flavor was great. The sandwich was rich and a half serving was more than I needed. If in my next visit they offer better service and warmer soup, I’ll maintain the 4 star rating, otherwise I start deducting. (And the jury is still out on the muffin. I’ve been too full to try it.)

I love their roasted tomato & basil bisque soup! It’s one of their signature soups. I discovered it a few months ago and will probably order it every time I dine here from now on. It has a little kick to it and I love it! I love spreading butter on the ciabatta bread and dipping it in the soup. :) As for their other entrees, the food is pretty good here. I’ve dined here several times and have tried their chicken pot pie, grilled meatloaf, artichoke asiago chicken spaghettini, turkey pesto ciabatta and probably a few other items I can’t remember and have never been disappointed! If you really enjoy sweet desserts, this is the place for you! I’ve tried their fresh apple cinnamon crisp and their mimi’s bread pudding and both were too sweet for me. It’s a nice, cute, and cozy restaurant and the service here has always been great. Before I leave the restaurant, I discreetly grab a small handful of their chocolate mint candies from the bucket and toss them into my purse. Hehe I love those darn mints! ;)

I have only gone for breakfast and I just love everything on the breakfast menu. I think I have just about tried everything. Their muffins are to die for(Buttermilk Spice is my favorite). I have been to Mimi’s for breakfast a number of occassions ever since I went to one in California many years ago. Found one close enough to the houes and have been going for breakfast ever since. The service could be better on some days. Completely depends on where you are sitting. I find that I have the best service at the bar, oddly enough. Usually, my husband and I will go in and just sit at the bar to avoid a long wait on a Sunday morning and feel better about getting good service. On my last visit, the Manager was walking around trying to make sure that tables got turned, but he wasn’t doing that great of a job. My husband and I saw a table open while we waited for the first 5 to 10 minutes since the bar was full. 10 minutes after that, they seated us at that very table. I’m thinking — if you are trying to turn tables, you just failed, we could’ve sat there 15 minutes ago! Save us some time. My husband was not thrilled about the new Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes… the lemon taste was extremely artificial. I mean, over the top, not even sure if its lemon I’m tasting artificial. I had the Avacado Omlette. It’s always good. At anyrate, the breakfast food is good. I have yet to go for lunch and actually have lunch and I have never been for dinner. There’s just so many places that I can go for dinner, that Mimi’s just hasn’t been on my list of places to go to dinner. But breakfast — I recommend you go. My one and only complaint is that they really hurt my feeling when they took ‘huevos y papas’ off the menu. OMG, it was by far the best breakfast item on the menu at the time… and no matter how many times I’ve gone(at least 50), I ask for them to bring it back… but they haven’t. I am still really sad about it. It’s been gone for maybe 2 years now, but I still miss it every time I go.

On Sunday evening we wanted to go to Olive Garden but people were waiting outside. So we decided to go to Mimi’s Café. When we arrived the parking lot was almost empty. That should have been a sign of things to come. We waited 7 minutes to be seated. Several employees saw us but decided to ignore us. In one area only 2 tables were available but we preferred booth. They told us the other section, where several families were having dinner, was closed. Eventually they guided us to a booth in the«closed» section. The next few groups after us were immediately seated in our section as well. It took about 5 minutes to get our drinks, 10 minutes to ask for our order and 45 minutes to get our food. When the kids meals arrived I asked if I could have my soup. It arrived a few minutes later together with my meal. They rarely asked for refills. The bread tasted good. They offered a second serving but it never arrived. I ordered the Salmon with mashed potatoes. I cut it open and the first thing I saw was a bone. The mashed potatoes were cold. My son had 4 very small chicken fingers that had a huge layer of breading. They were hard to chew. We had to ask twice for the ketchup. He said: «the only decent part of the meal is the apple sauce». My daughter had a grilled cheese sandwich. The cheese tasted horrible and looked like plastic. She did like the fries. The kids desert(a dirt cup) had gummy worms that were so cold they were hard to chew. In other words, we did not have a good experience at Mimi’s café and we won’t eat there again.

Someones grandmas house in Italy with a Bistro on the front porch? OK the food is pretty good, at least the mystery bread they brought out with salads. Also, I’m not only a salsa freak I really like butter, this place has great butter, i almost broke the waiters finger for attempting to take it away when the bread bowl was empty. The appetizer, eh! We had Crab Fritters, whatever that is(fritter=deep fried). The fritters where like crab hot pockets with an unknown filling(like hot pockets), the fries where good, these where the fritter grease draining devices. I actually love crab is one of my fav’s so this dish was just OK to me. Dinner, my son had sliders and they looked lonely on that big olé plate but did smell grate. The wife had quiche that looked freaking awesome even though I wouldn’t have any idea what it tastes like, but from the noises she was making it was good. The quiche dish also came with a giant blueberry muffin and two fruit wedges pineapple and cannelope I beleve. Quiche appeared to be a great buy if you have no re guard for caloric intake(it was her birthday). The Salmon plate I ordered was excellent, the fish was perfect and the broccoli and short grain brown rice where great compliments to the salmon. I would not recommend the salmon dinner for the very hungry its portions are for the smaller appetites or the dieting like myself, I was satisfied though. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try a new place prices are around $ 10 and some items for $ 5 like the sliders appetizer special. Travis

Came here with coupon in hand for b1g1 entrees. Service was great and we both enjoyed our entrees, fish and chips and honey dijon salmon. I had to prevent myself from getting a muffin to go, but I have a strong fondness for the buttetmilk spice muffins :) We will be back, look for their coupons in your mailbox or newspaper!

MF and I were on the way to his dad’s house in Lantana(where is that?) when we realized we were about to die of hunger. No literally, he was about to run into the median if I didn’t agree to eat right then and now. The choices were death, Jason’s Deli or Mimi’s Café. I agreed to Mimi’s because we are usually never that way, and b/c he has been wanting me to try it. We walked in and I thought the interior was cute. I believe they are going for a bistro/café feel with their New Orleans and Parisian décor. The menu looked pretty good. MF was raving about the tuna albacore salad signature sandwich so of course that is what he ordered. I decided to go with the salmon nicoise salad because I pretty much drooled when reading the ingredients — mixed greens, cucumbers, feta cheese, egg, and diced tomatoes tossed in a low-fat citrus vinaigrette topped with a grilled petite salmon fillet, marinated artichokes, and red potatoes. It was one ingredient however, that sneaked into my salad awarding Mimi’s one star…(waiiiiiiiit for it…) The waitress was cheery and delivered our water and Arnold Palmer quickly.(I was feeling experimental… tasty I have to say!) My salad came with a muffin so MF and I shared the banana and chocolate chip. It was served piping hot so the chocolate chips were melted… yummers. We were so excited when the rest of the food arrived. MF’s sandwich looked freaking amazing. It was loaded with tuna, avocado, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and mayo on sourdough bread. My salad looked pretty amazing too, and the aroma of the salmon had my mouth watering. I loaded a fork full and fed it to MF who made a «this is awesome» face. So I loaded up a fork full of my own and stuffed it in my mouth. The ingredients went well together and I loved the light dressing. It was when I went to take my second bite that I noticed the extra ingredient. A cockroach. I have never had this happen to me. I mean, what a cliché right? That never REALLY happens, right? Yes. Yes it does. I calmly put down my fork, showed MF my new little friend and excused myself to the bathroom. You can use your imagination with what went on in there. I came back to find out that the waitress had apologized(it wasn’t her fault, she was cute as a button) and the manager had stopped by too. She told MF «we wash things thoroughly, but sometimes these things happen.» Just like that. As cool as a cucumber(hopefully not one of the ones swimming with the roaches in my salad.) Needless to say, we didn’t stick around. Our ticket came back without the salad on it(thanks) but everything else was on it. Even the half eaten sandwich that poor MF was so eager to finish but couldn’t stomach. I mean, my new little friend’s buddy could have been in there. I wanna cry a weetle.
