Best Friend Bar

Best Friend Bar is a a great little dive with awesome Polish eats. Love the atmosphere and service. Beer selection is pretty solid and they have some great deals. Visited during Burger Week 2015 and voted their burger as my top choice — praying they bring it to the menu formally.

I’ll give it 5 stars if (when?) the kitchen opens:) Overall a great little dive! Friendly staff, prices are great, awesome location, and the draft options are on point… If you’re trying to get away from the hustle bustle of campus but still watch the game on plenty of TVs and a projection big screen… It’s perfect! But heads up, gets busy after 11pm! New Lexington fav!

This place is a dive, located on the corner of East Euclid, across the traffic light and within eye shot of Lynaughs and Great Bagel. There isn’t a parking lot, so you have to drive around and find street parking. Don’t park in Lynaughs parking lot though, they will tow you (is what the sign inside says).
I stopped in for the first time on day #2 of Burger Week. I really do love the concept of Burger Week and the fact that it’s bringing people in, to try places that they probably wouldn’t ever try, opening awesome opportunities for many local business owners. So when I came to BFB only to learn that they hid their menu and were only offering the burger, I was a baffled. I asked about other menu items and the guy behind the bar said that they’re working on a summer menu and will be offering things like tacos and nachos. As if I didn’t see the pictures online of other food options. Their fryer was broken at 5:30 and no mention of the replacement. I mean seriously! Every single person there was specifically there for Burger Week and asked for fries. Go buy a damn fryer from the store and stop passing such good opportunities! It didn’t stop there… they were out of supplies in the ladies bathroom and the bathroom was gross. Company is coming over, clean and stock the bathroom! Again, opportunity missed. It was almost as if this bar was intended for one best friend and I wasn’t it, not invited.
My burger was good. My husband’s burger was raw. I’m not sure how I got lucky, but mine was cooked perfect. So the guy informed him that all of the burgers are cooked medium rare, and basically that’s just how it is. This is hamburger we’re talking about here, not steak, bison or antelope. Maybe I’m not in on the hamburger bandwagon, because that seems crazy to me.
I will say that this was the first place that I’ve seen Ethereal beer offered on draft. They had a few options in cans that I’d not seen anywhere else local either. There’s a stage, so I assume they have live music.
I was prepared to hang out and have a few drinks, but I wasn’t feeling the place or being part of the best friend clique.

Ordered Pierogi. Looked good. But there were hair in the dumplings. Really gross and Killed my appetite! Expecting a band to play at 10. When we left at 11, they still didn’t show up. Wasted 5 bucks to get in. Saw the good reviews on Unilocal,but personally I’m not going there again. Most times I trust Unilocal,but there were several experience not good as I expected, and best friend bar is definitely one of them.

Awesome bar. The folks in walking distance are lucky. I keep getting here too late but I hear the Polish-​centric food is the best in town. Surprisingly good beer selection and prices.

Popped in here on a whim after work one day when I was done with an errand near campus. What a surprise! In my years I’ve known this building to house shitty niche bars: The Bearded Seale (didn’t that feature into the Bluegrass Conspiracy folderol?), then The Fishtank (which wasn’t insufferable but wasn’t all that either), then some douchebaggery fratdaddy bar which didn’t last long.
This location has weathered some ridiculous parties, with people climbing up the side of the damn building during UK basketball championship win celebrations to get to the roof, police and their horses both in riot gear, overturned news vans, setting panties afire, street scenes gone wrong with a front-​row seat.
Now it’s where a few young-​but-​longtime titular Best Friends have decided to spring into business. A simple menu, homey-​yet-​exotic, comfortable-​yet-​inventive, tasty, and sincere. A knowing array of beers. Can’t speak to the cocktails or wine but I’d reckon they can satisfy you for an evening. I’ve not been but in talking to the staff it sounds like they have a wide variety of live music many nights. Seems that their online presence is limited to FB & Instagram.
Pop in early if you’re wary and just want to eat. Pop in late if you want to have a hell of a fun time slinging light guff and/​or listening to up-​and-​coming guff.

Tibby is whipping up the sweetness in the kitchen while the long hairs are slinging the cheapest high quality drinks this side of main st. I will be back.
