We came for valentines weekend and had a wonderful experience! I had the filet mignon and it was perfectly cooked with an amazing char on the outside. My husband got the seafood stew and it an a deep tomato flavor that was totally addictive. The food was 5 stars for sure!

Coles is always a fabulous experience. Everything from the food to the service is always impeccable. The duck fat fries are an absolute must. I had the scallops with the carrot purée and all but licked my plate clean. My husband had the filet Oscar style and loved it. It might be the best filet in town as I snuck a few a bite of his. Paired with the Leese Fitch Cabernet they have on draft and I’m a happy girl. Our server was knowledgable and friendly and full of recommendations. He was pleasant and around when we needed anything without being intrusive. The general manager also stopped by to make sure we had a good experience which is always nice to see. Coles is a go to staple for fabulous noms.

The atmosphere was lovely and the service was top-notch, but I was a little disappointed with the food, especially with pricing taken into consideration. Full disclosure: I was limited to meatless options so this may not apply to everything on their menu. For vegetarians considering eating here, you’re pretty much eating soup or salad, and they’re not exactly delicious, even by soup/salad standards.

Coles 735 Main is a very good restaurant. We had a reservation and were seated right away upon arrival. Our drinks were good, but not the best Old Fashioned I’ve ever had.(Sabio has the best ones!). Our server was excellent and the food was as well. I had the beef short ribs and my wife had the Moroccan Butternut Squash Stew. Both were excellent. We split the Brussel House Salad, which was also excellent even if you don’t like Brussel sprouts! In fact, our entrees’ were so good, we boxed our leftovers to take back to NC to finish the next day! The noise level was high, but there were two large tables with everyone talking loud. I am impressed with the entrée’ selections and will definitely return to Coles 735 Main when I’m in Lexington.

This restaurant is phenomenal! My mother and I enjoyed a lovely meal during our visit in Lexington. We were 10 minutes late to our reservation due to traffic, but they were gracious and led us right to our table. The décor is wonderful — cute, homey, and sophisticated all at the same time. We enjoyed warm bread and butter(served in a basket that perfectly complemented the décor) while we waited a short time for our meals. My mom order the filet mignon– she is a simple eater, very picky, so ordered it plain, no fuss. It came out as such, and was melt-in-your-mouth perfect. It tasted perfect, it was cooked perfectly… It was just perfect. I ordered the scallops, which came with two different sauces/garnishes rimming the plate. It was a culinary experience to say the least. We finished our meal with delicious homemade warm chocolate chip cookies a la mode and Baileys and coffee. When you go, make a reservation and ask for Lauren. She’s amazing! Well done, Cole’s.

Well tonight we returned to Coles. I have always loved this but the last time we were there it was so terrible. Tonight our experience was great and wonderful and the staff there is always to great. Tonight I had the Short Ribs and they were so wonderful. The ribs were so tender and served in this delicious soy sweet beef broth with sliced radishes, noodles and broccolini. The manager even remembered that our last experience was so bad he brought us the check to see how our evening was. I was very impress and of course will be going back many times. Thanks Cole! Loved it

Went to Coles day after Christmas for dinner with hubby… It was packed and yet everything we ordered was top-notched quality… Big plus whole wheat roles. yes I was glad to have that option. We were hungry also and appetizer arrived fast. I forgot the exact name but fries fried in duck fat with sauce and tacos with pork. They both were great. Ordered my drink which arrived quickly. Hubby ordered lobster bisque soup and I ordered smoked baby back ribs. I will say that I had lots of ribs in barbecue places and you can’t compare this to them but it was still very good. Their sauce was very good. I just love going to Coles bc I can expect good quality food with top notch service. Will be back off course

I’m sure that the food here is remarkable and perfectly suited for more sophisticated palates. All in all, though, it’s not my cup of tea. I was there by virtue of having dinner with co-workers on the company tab. I may be a calorie counter, but I still appreciate ample portions and hate to be a party to paying these kinds of prices and walking out the door still hungry. I wouldn’t discourage you from going, but just want to caution that if your project is to eat to satiety for a price that doesn’t require taking a look at the family budget first, this may not be the place for you.

Delicious food and great service. Great appetizers and cocktails. Basil Jane(martini) was a sweet delight. Highly recommend the Panko crusted avocado with crab lump. Also enjoyed the baked Brie with crackers. Scottish Salmon was cooked to perfection with a crispy skin. Topped the evening off with a great sampler of desserts.

This was one of the best places I’ve eaten. The pork belly app was so tender and the chutney on the Brie was really good. The steak was tender with just the right amount of char. The service was very attentive without interruptions.

5 stars. Everything about this restaurant was wonderful. Ordered a bottle of wine to start along with the fried avocado appetizer. Top notch. Entrée: Beef Shoulder Tender. Must order. Cooked to perfection with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Also, tried my girlfriend’s shrimp and grits and they were tasty! Service was wonderful. Check this place out if you are in the area.

3 stars… if you go you must try the panko fried avocado stuffed with crab meat. My husband and I both ordered the steak medium rare, it arrived at the table well done(after it took 40 min to get our food) we just finished our meal as was. We also had the phyllo dough wrapped brie, I wish this appetizer had been served warm

Everything about this restaurant was ONPOINT. The interior of the restaurant had fabulous design, with unique attention to the minutest of details — think pillows, picture frames, linens, flowers… even the bathroom felt like I was walking into a French-inspired Pinterest board. The food was nothing short of delicious. I had the cantaloupe gazpacho for starter and was pleasantly surprised. It was sweet and creamy, with a little bit of spice. For my main course, I enjoyed a medium rare filet, cooked to perfection, served with fried grits(yes, it is as good as it sounds). The service was impeccably seamlessly. Nothing more to say — you know a server does his job when he goes unnoticed. A true gem in Lexington, I will be sure to return.

I have been to Cole’s on several occasions, over the past year, with my wife and friends to sample their products. It has been nothing shy of superb, on every occasion. The meals are expertly prepared. The staff is highly attentive. Everyone in my group is highly satisfied with our experiences at Cole’s. Coming from a bunch of foodies, who both live to cook as well as dine out, it doesn’t come any better. Thank you.

After continuously reading all positive reviews on Unilocal about Coles, I finally decided to go. I now will agree, that it’s one of the best in Lexington. Unfortunately the first time that I attempted to go, I found out that they are closed on Sundays. The next time that we decided to go, as a last minute spontaneous dinner. We pulled in the lot on a Tuesday around 7pm and noticed that parking was scarce, so that was a good sign. Then we noticed the sign that indicated that there is additional parking available in the school board parking lot, which is next door, on East Main too. We checked in at the hostess stand and were informed that the only seating availability was on the patio. Note to self: make reservations or at least call to try to make reservations, the next time that I decide to go. The patio is covered and now one of my favorite patios. It was a bit chilly because of the rain, so the waitress turned on the overhead heater and brought me a blanket. OK, the blanket was a bit strange, but it was a nice gesture… and I used it. I will admit that none of the entrees on the menu appealed to me. I’m not a steak eater and I some of the items, I wasn’t brave enough to risk and end up and not liking. The waitress was excellent! She explained the featured special items, what they were garnished with and what she recommended. First we were given a basket of scrumptious rolls and butter. Then I discovered the bar menu… perfect! We ordered four items from the bar menu to share. They brought the the duck fat fries and the roasted beet and goat cheese salad. The portion of fries were huge, especially considering that the price was only $ 5. The goat cheese salad was greens topped with a warm portion of goat cheese. It was the first time that I’d had warm goat cheese and it was excellent. Then the(3) pork tacos and the fried avocado arrived… we were already full. Leftovers are always a good thing, right? The avocado made a good breakfast and the tacos a good leftover lunch. Four meals for a bit over $ 50 after the 20% tip, not too bad, or what I was expecting to pay.

I’ve always heard good things about Cole’s. Mostly that it is expensive so it’s taken me awhile to decide to try it. I came for what I hoped would be happy hour only to find out that they have absolutely no drink specials ever. So my friend and I ordered drinks and an appetizer. The Panko fried avocado with Tuna was delicious. They have a full dinner menu and also a bar menu that includes appetizer type items but they are in the $ 10-$ 15 range. I saw some plates walking by that all looked really tasty.

I guess I don’t play fair. At a certain price point I expect more. The food was good but it did not blow me away. The Asian baby back ribs was not even close to a Asian flavor. Just because it is served with Kimchi does not make it Asian. Not that they were bad. In fact I eat at a great hole in wall place in Louisville that has the same smoke sweet flavor. Look up boot leg barbecue. Cats out of the bag!

I am so glad that we ate here! The food was really wonderful. I had a delicious roasted beet and goat cheese salad that was much more sophisticated then most. I tried the«beef shoulder tender» which I have never had before. It was good, not outstanding, but very good. My husband had the duck and that was better than my entrée. What may have been the most amazing thing was the side that came with my entrée. It was mashed potatoes that were topped with roasted mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, and asparagus. Sounds simple right? At first, it seemed odd to even put those things on top of the potatoes. Then I tried it. It was incredible. The flavor combination was out of this world. I was stuffed and I kept eating it until it was gone. Sadly, they ran out of the crème brûlée dessert I wanted(but definitely didn’t need by that point). Our cocktails were good and our server was very nice. The only thing that was hugely disappointing was the décor. This restaurant is badly in need of a makeover. Their food is so sophisticated and delicious, it is a shame that the décor of the restaurant doesn’t match. Luckily it was evening and dim in the restaurant. Not sure I could manage to go in daylight hours. :)

Four stars because there isn’t a five star restaurant in Lexington. That said, this place was delicious and everything was firing on all eight cylinders for a Friday evening dinner with the wife Décor — meh, they did the best they could with the space available. It’s quiet and romantic. Overly dark in some spots but maybe that was intentional. Cuisine — the menu was solid for the fall. Enough variants in plates to stand up to the crazy fall weather in Lexington. Staff — well they try. There isn’t a fine dining spot in Lexington who understand the service aspect. Likely because the business owners never make it out of this little bubble of mediocre serviced restaurants and venture into a larger metro to see how the big boys do it. Anyway, I suggest this place. It’s solid.
