Where do I begin with this Unilocal???First off, I should say I make a point to try and give my patronage to the local businessman. Help the little guy get a leg up, ya know? So When we purchased our new condo(its actually built in 1910) I knew I would like to enjoy open windows at some point so I called Happy to come measure my windows and make me the inserts that expand. This was at the end of April that I called and had them come out. They had the screens done in a week. I met then over at the condo May 7th and collected them and paid them off in full. 11 screens=$ 727.50. We weren’t going to be moving in until June 12, so I stored them in our basement. It never occurred to me to try them in the windows– they measured, right? So we move into our lovely historic condo on June 12 and its very warm and our electric wasn’t set to be turned on yet, so I said, ah ha, I have these awesome screens I can put in the window, so i went downstairs and brought them up. First off, they were not the expandable kind. They had made them to fit exact. Ok, thats, fine BUT when I tried to put them in the windows, not one of them fit! NOTONE! So the next day, I called Happy and told them the dilemma. They came out again a couple days later and remeasured everything. But the guy that came out was confident that they were the right size, we just had to take off all the wood framing around the windows to get them in. WHAT??? Dissemble my window frames? NO! I showed him a sample of the screen I wanted, as we had some ancient ones that I think were original to the building. He said«Oh, okay, now I see what you are wanting». So he measures and leaves. Two weeks later I call and ask where are my screens. ‘Oh, they are working on them’ Another week goes by, and I call again. «We’re working on it, but are little confused as to what it is you want exactly» What!!! So I tell them to swing by and actually pick up my old original screen so they can copy the design. These are window and screen people and you would think they had never seen anything like this in their entire careers! So if you are doing the math here on the dates, its already been three months since the fiasco began. They pick up the screen to copy the design and I don’t hear from them for weeks! Weeks! So I call and they say they have a sample they would like to come over and show me and then remeasure all the windows, again! They come over and measure and show me the sample. Its made by another company! Not even them, so Im thinking, at least they have found something. they say they will order the screens. In the mean time we had two different trips we went on and while on the second trip I called because now its the 3rd week in august and we are getting really close to screen weather. I am told they are on the UPS truck and should be there that day and that they would call me as soon as they see they are and set up a time for delivery. Every time I have called and asked to be called back, they didn’t. There is no communication with this company! If it weren’t for my calling to see the progress on something I had paid for 4 months prior they probably would have just taken the money and ran! So when I go back Aug 23rd from our trip, I got on line. Do you know I found the screens that they had supposedly ordered for me within like 10 minutes of searching the web??? Not only that, but all 11 screens would cost me(with delivery) $ 116!!! Ok, you don’t have to be a math wiz to see the huge difference between $ 727 and $ 166. Its $ 611!!! Thats what I was going to be taken for!?! Needless to say I called Happy and told them to cancel my order. That they had jacked me around long enough. That I was more than patient, but I was done. I told them I wanted my refund immediately since they had drawn interest on it for nearly 5 months! And it won’t surprise you at all that it took over a week to get it! They said they would cut the check and mail it that day. I called two days later because I had not intact received the refund check. You know why? Because they didn’t even cut the check!!! I threatened small claims court if I didn’t have that check with in 24 hours. It came the next day as she promised(the second time). They clearly don’t care about customer service. I think Happy doesn’t give a $hit if his clients are happy. I can tell you that beyond this Unilocal I will personally make it my mission to let people know how bad this company and the service they provide are. I think what they fail to realize is we can spend our money ANYWHERE. And that is exactly what we did. When I ordered my screens from another company on a Monday, I had them in my windows Thursday(four days later!!) Bottom line, you won’t be happy with Happy the Glass Man!

I needed a glass panel replaced in a porch door. I called this company and another whom I had had some work done in the past. Happy the Glassman came out the next day to give me an estimate. Their prices were competitive and they were quick with an estimate. When I decided to use them, they came out the same day to fix the glass. The work was well done and I really appreciate that I didn’t have to wait long as with the other company. The charged the same as they quoted me. I would definitely recommend them.
