It might not be the biggest park in Lexington, it actually might be the smallest… don’t quote me on that. We stopped by the park because we were driving by, looking for some kentucky shots. This place as a stampede of stallions with jockeys on their backs. If that’s not Kentucky, I don’t know what is. The park also has other case iron horses that are ‘grazing’ around the park. The park is a triangle, bordered by streets. It’s not in the best part of town, but it’s a nice little green space. They’ve also got a large fountain, almost pool like that wraps around a wall. I bet people wade in the water on hot days, & I bet that isn’t allowed. The brick leaded up to the stampede of horses is very uneven. I think it’s probably hard for people in wheelchairs to transverse over it. Hell, I bet it’s hard for women in heels to walk over it.

A small park in a busy downtown where you can relax in a green space with fountains and statues. There will be traffic noise, though. It’s an OK place for kids, too, but there isn’t any playground stuff. It’s a great place to land in the early morning and prepare for the day ahead.

Pros: Statues are meticulously detailed and photo well in morning light. Cons: Small park placed at a busy intersection so peace and quiet are foregone. Metered parking.

Okay, so I normally wouldn’t review a park but after reading the only review for this park I was appalled felt the need to speak up. I’m over by this park a considerable amount since my boyfriend is a manager at the shop across the street. Yes there are homeless people that sleep there, but they almost never bother anyone and I’ve never seen any of them doing drugs. Not everyone is so fortunate to have a place to call home or even a bed to call their own. It’s not like they are going to jump out at you or try to scare you. They need a place to sleep where they won’t be bothered and have a little shelter from the sun, just like everyone else. Sure, like most parks, it’s not like you want to go there alone in the middle of the night, but the homeless who sleep there aren’t the ones you need to be concerned about. Instead of shaming them for trying to sleep how about you give them a little food or say good morning to them. They are people too & most of them aren’t trying to scare or hurt you.

This is a beautiful little park but apparently this is also where the homeless are allowed to sleep. I understand that shelters do not allow people to stay if they are drinking or doing drugs and that they need somewhere to sleep it off but holy crap — NOT the best place to walk in a Sunday morning if you are not aware of this fact. Scared the heck out of me!(And surprising that the Lex police let them sleep here.) just a heads up peeps so that you don’t have a heart attack!
