Knowledgable people behind the sushi bar, great menu, and high quality make this the go to place for sushi in Lexington. Anyone who likes sushi will enjoy the food here, but the nigiri/sashimi preparation is what really shines.

There were 5 of us. Dinner was absolutely delicious from the wine to the sushi. We had a variety of rolls and a couple of starters. Try the salmon carpaccio! It is a must! My two favorite rolls were the Atlantic and the Amazing Tuna. The Naruto, Volcano and Latin were good. I will definitely go back and highly recommend it!

I hesitated to give it a five, but honestly I have nothing negative to say about this place, and the food was extremely tasty! There’s nothing fancy there, but the food is well thought out, very creative, and has a beautiful presentation. I’ve eaten at a lot of sushi places, and this is one of the better ones quite honestly. It’s close to the airport and I was traveling in so I was looking for a quick bite to eat. It’s an unassuming place in the strip mall, but when you walk inside it’s nice, and clean. The service was really good and the sushi chef gave me a sample of his latest creation. It was cream cheese, jalapeño, and salmon fried and I hope it becomes a regular part of the menu for the sake of the customers! Their menu is a little bit limited, but there are bento boxes and assortment of decent looking entrées. Since I went for the sushi, I didn’t try them. I ordered the fried dumplings, California rolls, and the Dancing Eel Roll. The California rolls were really big, and the eel was delicious! The fried dumplings were quite tasty as well. I washed it down with an Asahi and was ready to go. I decided, what the heck, I need dessert. I went with the fruit eggroll, which was definitely the correct choice! There may be better places in Lexington, I don’t know. If there are, I’d like to know! Eat here if you want great sushi.

Came in on a Friday night for dinner. The place was pretty empty. The booths were very comfortable and roomy. Had some nigiri and an Asahi. The salmon belly was super fresh, the snapper had an absolutely amazing taste, and the sea scallops actually melted in my mouth. Really, really great sushi. The prices were very reasonable. If you are looking for a place with actual sushi and not tuna salad wrapped in rice and cucumbers then this is a great place to visit.

Bo, the owner of this establishment, is the wonderful woman you hear the other reviewers talking about. She flew in a sushi chef from nyc, and the stuff he makes is incredible! Food and drink is Bo’s passion and you can really tell in the quality of service and food. This is one of, if not my favorite Lexington restaurant.

Good food and service. Owner(?) is a very nice lady who speaks fluent English and Chinese and is very knowledgeable about the sake and food menus. It was a weekend night but the restaurant had only about 12 customers. Our waitress was quite good and seemed to have taken some acting lesson. The grill squid(app) was tasty and tender. Sashimi, sushi, and other dishes were all good. The price is not low but not unfair given the nice ambience and good service. Overall it was a nice experience. Will recommend.

Food is great! Service is super nice! Only problem we ran into was the time it took to get in and out. Very short staffed. Hopefully this is an exception.

I had an excellent experience here! I sat at the sushi bar where you can order from the special tasting menu. The white tuna with white truffle was very nice. Delicate flavors and a nice presentation. The tuna with kalamata olive was an unexpected and interesting delight. I would have never thought to pair tuna sashimi with olives, but the combo was magical. My favorite taster of the night was the salmon with crème fraîche and caviar. It was so perfect I got goose bumps! Both sushi chefs were friendly and the servers were quick to refill my water. This was my first time dining at Zen Sushi and I’m sure I’ll be back very soon!

My daughter, who LOVES sushi, and I went to Zen for a restaurant review. Everything we had was excellent and we loved the sushi. Every bit as good as Miyako and a nicer atmosphere, though I agree it’s a little dark. The Beaumont roll is such a beautiful presentation, it’s worth getting just for that. The owner and chef are extremely proud of their work and have an extensive wine list. The owner is very well versed in the wine selections. The only thing I didn’t care for was the dessert, a spring roll type concoction. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I loved this place. Really excellent service and food. The owner is very educated on wine and has tastings with recommended food pairings on Monday and Tuesday nights. I had the Beaumont roll and substituted the soft shell crab for the prawn. It was superb. We will be back! On a Monday or Wednesday!!!

I had dinner here tonight with a group of friends from the neighborhood. The Beaumont Roll was AWESOME, as well as the other 5 courses. Everybody loved the Beaumont Roll, including those who didn’t typically eat sushi. We had a great time.

This restaurant was convenient to my Hampton Inn across the parking lot and got good reviews, so I decided to try it. They were not busy, I was quickly greeted and seated, and the service was good. The salad with ginger dressing was typical for a Japanese restaurant… basic greens, cucumber etc… but fresh and tasty. There were many sushi options, both cooked(tempura) and raw. I opted for a Sweetheart Roll based on its content, veggies and raw fish. It was beautiful and delicious. It started to get busier while I ate, and it took a bit of time to get my bill and then pay. But overall, this place was really good and I would definitely return.

The food here was good, and I really enjoyed their take on the seaweed salad. Outside of that, i did sashimi which was empty of cartilage, yes! and large portions! I got the Golden dragon roll, which I will not get again as I didn’t realize the outside wrap of the roll was something that is just not to my taste, not due to quality. The employees are incredibly friendly and will do anything to make your experience fantastic. This was actually my favorite part! I didn’t realize that after dinner I would be discussing the behavioral finance with a college professor and what the implications behavioral finance will have on the financial markets going forward!

Saturday night visit at about 9 o’clock and Zen Sushi is really busy! This is my 3rd visit since they opened and service, sake selection, and overall dining experience has continued to ramp up! Sushi here is fantastic! Creative! Fresh! Service tonight was excellent. Shrimp tempura was light and delicious. The whole family is always wowed by the volcano roll. I’m a big fan of the crab and seaweed salad. Great place if you like sushi and are in the mood for an adventure.

This place was recommend to me by the Marriott at check-in. It’s in waking distance and I’m glad I went. The service was fast and very friendly. The sushi was excellent and seemed very fresh! Great presentation too(I should have taken a picture)! Will come back next time I’m here.

We went here on a recommendation from a bartender across the street at Bru Burger. We went around 5pm on a Saturday. It was a little early, but it was mostly empty. Just a 4-top and two folks at the sushi bar. There is a big TV behind the bar but it was off. The lighting is too dark(I joked with my wife that I needed a flashlight to find the bathrooms) The owner(I think) came over to welcome us. She asked if we were sushi fans. I said I like most anything except for Uni. She said oh we don’t have that. She suggested I try the ‘standards’ and come back for something more exotic(but you don’t have Uni?) The sushi chef(who wasn’t very talkative) handed me a nice free appetizer that seemed to be chopped up tuna wrapped in avocado. It was very nice. My wife ordered a couple of appetizers. The avocado chicken was excellent. The pan fried dumplings(gyoza) tasted good but was a touch too spicy for the wife. She really liked the house salad also. I ordered some sushi and a Rainbow Roll. My sushi showed up first but the Rainbow Roll took another 10 minutes at least. Really?!? I expected all to show up at the same time. Also the rice wasn’t packed tight enough and most of my sushi came apart when I picked them up. The portions were fine but it prices are higher than others in town. We left close to 6:45 but still was mostly empty. I think there are better choices in town.
