Sashimi — excellent. Sukiyaki — good. Rest room — don’t go there if you really don’t have to.

Great Japanese Home-cooked comfort food. Their chicken tofu is one of my favorites! These people have great service and the food is one of the best in kauai! Definitely a must-go in the island.

I had dinner. They were out of many of the essentials like hot green tea, sashimi and Ramen. Ordered oyakodon and beef sukiyaki combo. The sukiyaki was a rip off at 29 dollars. The food was honestly so-so. But probably the worst thing was the service. The servers were inattentive and spent the whole time talking in the kitchen. The place wasn’t very clean so good thing we didn’t order anything raw.

Tucked in a residential area. Delicious rice, teriyaki chicken and soba noodles!

This was my first time trying this place. My college professor at kauai community college recommended here. I REALLY enjoyed what I ordered, which was the Katsu Don. Very satisfied with my choice. The flavors are very good! Great portion for a very affordable price! I highly recommend Kiibo as well :)

OMG, I have eaten here before, but forgot how good and tasty the food is. We had the Combination Tempura, it was so ONO! It came with 4 pieces of vegetables and 3 big pieces of shrimp, all lightly battered in tempura. Side dishes included were a bowl of rice, a bowl of miso soup, and a bowl of salad. All were delicious! Definitely coming back again and again. The green tea was good too. For dessert I had a bowl of rainbow sherbet, kinda odd they didn’t offer a green tea ice cream, but oh well. I forgot to take a picture, ugh!!!

3 at best. Miso is VERY salty. Tempura batter was too thick. No way to know about the rest. Arrived 1 hr before close and they had no noodles, no fish, not even sukiyaki. Pretty much if you didn’t want teriyaki or tempura you are out of luck. It was really odd because you would order, they go away and come back, ‘sorry, we don’t have that’, you order again, rinse & repeat. Only after you did the drill 3 – 4 times they tell you they don’t have x, y, z, a, b, c, or any letter in between. From there you can work out what you can order. Pretty much avoid this place.

Kiibo is a traditional Japanese restaurant serving your standard Japanese dishes like teriyaki, tempura, sashimi, udon, and bento-style combos. Don’t come here if you’re expecting to order sushi. It’s not a sushi restaurant. We both ordered dinner combos and were pretty satisfied. Service was a bit slow but we’re on vacation so not a big deal. Portions and pricing were typical.

Sorry to report there is no quality, nor any value to be had at this place. We’re hoping we won’t get sick from the foul tasting tuna tossed into the combo don bowls. Extremely disappointed at all the overly inflated reviews in Kauai. Only a few places command 3+ stars(Marks, Pono Market, Verde, Fish Market, etc…)

Hands down, the best meal we experienced on Kauai. Kiibo is a traditional Japanese restaurant, not a sushi place, with many dishes that I am unfamiliar with. That being said, the tuna sashimi they served with my pork sukiyaki was the most amazing that I have ever tasted: sweet and full-flavored. Wow. The pork was amazing, too, perfectly prepared and nicely presented. The kiddies had udon and hubby opted for the Karaage. We sat on a traditional low table with our shoes off(although there are many more conventional tables if you prefer), and it was a fun experience(although I think hubby was a bit uncomfortable). Service was friendly and prompt. I would return again in heartbeat, and highly recommend that you do, too. CASHONLY.

Pricy for what you get. But pretty authentic Japanese fare.

Delicious food on a rainy evening. Lots of Japanese people there. We were seated on a platform with the traditional low table and pillows to sit on. My husband and I both got the bento boxes and really enjoyed them. A great experience.

Legit Japanese food for sure. The sashimi was the best Ahi sashimi I’ve ever had, and I live in Little Tokyo! I had cold soba with tempura. It was perfect. Beware if you are white, you will probably be judged as we were. I didn’t take offense though. When the waitress came to us with the menus she informed us this was not a sushi place. I mean, she probably gets it a lot… white tourists assuming Japanese is only sushi… Anyway, I think she was impressed by us.

MUSTTRY! I think it’s very authentic(not Hawaiian but Japanese :)). We sat with my husband on the tatamis area. Just that it’ so cool. We took, it’s wasn’t a bento but sort of, a course included a miso soup rice and dessert. The main course was composed by beef(or pork or chicken, but beef was the«authentic» recipe), with cabbages, caramelized onion, soy bean. They cook it with a homemade sauce that is crazy delicious. With all of that, you have choices of another side: sashimi(what i took and it was very fresh), tempura or teriyaki meat(your choice of meat). Enjoy!

Wow. I cannot say enough about this place. Easily some of the best Japanese food I’ve ever had. I ended up getting the beef sukayaki, and my boyfriend got some seafood platter. Both came with literally the freshest tuna I’ve ever eaten. It melted in your mouth, and had the most beautiful color to it. The meal also came with complimentary green tea, awesome! This places décor is nothing to write home about, but I do not care. I would eat here weekly if I were a local to this place. This place is also definitely a local joint, and not an overpriced touristy joint like most places in Kauai. If you’re in the area, definitely give this place a try. If you are looking for sushi, they were not serving sushi at the time we went(1÷14÷14).

AMAZING! My mom and me floated up to heaven and enjoyed the most amazing bowl of sukiyaki EVER. Life would not have been complete here on Kauai if we did not find this place. We lucked out… no joke. everything down to the miso soup and rice was perfect. A young man(in his early 20’s) served us our food and he was a fox. All and all… amazing food AND eye candy? Hah. Heavenly to say the least.

We found this restaurant through Unilocal and were looking forward to it because of the 4 star rating. It was a Thursday night around 7 pm. There were 2 other couples in the restaurant and the waitress was reading a book at the sushi bar. Unilocal reviews said that the sushi was great and so we thought that we would give it a try. To our surprise, the sushi bar was closed. We decided to go down the road to the«Sushi Katsu Japenese» and had delicious fresh sushi there.

This restaurant was the first place we ate for lunch in Kauai after getting off the plane. We ordered the sukiyaki, salmon sashimi(small portions) and California roll. Food was decently okay(I was still hungry after that meal), service was good however their bathroom can do some upgrading. The bathroom was located outside the restaurant where you go down this narrow alley towards the back. Kind of scary if you ask me. Lastly, this place does not serve any alcohol, hence the 3 star review.

I really like this place. Like the sushi, the noodle dishes, all of it. However, I heard the quality of food is deteriorating. Sad about that, so we didn’t go this last time I was home. I’m willing to try it again to see for myself. I always love coming here for the food and ambiance. You leave smelling like fried japanese food. haha.

I went here with my family, freshly rolling out from the humid airport, hungry and exhausted. We meant to go the restaurant across the street, but didn’t realize it. When we walked inside the restaurant had four bad D’s: dark, dingy, dusty and kinda dirty. I immediately wanted to turn around because this place looked like it belonged in Chef Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares. I got sushi, which didn’t look very fresh and the rolls were so small considering they were about $ 10 each. It was by no means amazing. My brother got the fried chicken, which was so greasy and slippery that it was almost inedible. It was not a good place to welcome my stay in Kauai and I am so surprised this place has four stars because I could have easily gotten something better and cheaper at the local L&L barbeque.
