Yamato’s Ice Cream

I am a curry snob. And these guys have it going on! Absolutely wonderful folks making delicious food. The menu changes based on what’s fresh and available. Creative Twists on classics. Absolutely worth finding. They’re right next to Suds Car Wash behind the Home Depot. You will not be disappointed

I always thought this was just an ice cream truck so I’ve just driven past. Then I saw a post on Fb about them having the best Japanese food. Huh?! I looked them up on FB and knew I had to try their food. I got okonomiyake or Japanese pizza and my husband got the chashu pork. And of course we had dessert first, had to try the ice cream right?
I thought there was no way I could eat the entire okonomiyake, well I couldn’t stop eating it! Hubby’s pork was so soft and with a real chashu egg! Soft yolk inside and hard boiled outside and marinated. He was happy with his also.
The ice cream was pricey but very yummy and refreshing. If you’re from Hawaii then you’ll know what I mean when I say it’s almost exactly like guri guri from Maui!
Will find them again to try their Ramen and chicken bowl.

Ok. I’m not sure what they did to get the consistency of their ice cream cups, but even if it’s illegal, I totally support it. My god. So creamy good, I legit bought one Lilikoi and one Coffee and snuck them into a movie with me. I don’t do that. I’m not that person. They made me do it with that unbelievably good flavor and texture. Seriously! How is it so creamy??? I’m gonna keep eating it till I figure it out.

Delicious! Ordered the shoyu ramen. Pork and egg cooked to perfection. The broth was given to me separately since I was taking it to go.

The food here is delicious. If you are looking for some good Japanese dishes I recommend you eating here. They also have really great tasting ice cream. I love eating ice cream here better then anywhere else. They take the time to make great quality food.

I just stopped in to try for the first time… My husband and I ordered a ramen, tori bowl, cha shiu bowl and a strawberry ice scream… All were very good! I love that they serve the bowls with stir fried cabbage!!! Will definitely be back!

THE GOOD: Manapua was delicious (got sweet & sour pork and adobo pork) and the entire menu looked really good so it was difficult to decide! Really quick turnaround — they just heat them up and you’re ready to go. THE BAD: Minus 1 star for a heavy bread-​to-​meat ratio (I like more filling in my manapua) and for using styrofoam (in this day & age we should all know better!). OVERALL: I want to go again and check out other menu items since I live right around the corner. The flavors were spot on.

The guy who runs this truck is a foodie no doubt. He’s recently added hot food and the tori chicken bowl I had was perfectly done. He makes everything to order so count on a 5 – 7 min wait.

Delicious Manapua! And a good variety too.
My husband and I got the sweet and sour spare rib, chicken curry, chicken adobo and pastele. Our favorite was the spare rib but they were all really good.
Their olive oil and pine nut ice cream is soooo good! :D All the other ones we tried were delicious but the olive oil was the best!
If you’re in kauai, this is a must go!
