Great Colombian food and large portions. I had Ajiaco de Gallina or Chicken Soup and it was delicious. Also had Arepa Chocolo and it was great. Customer service was good and the place was clean.

One word: mondongo. Two words: all week. While I go for the arepas and chicharones, my husband has been hunting for mondongo in Atlanta since we got here and Julia’s is the only one we’ve found that keeps mondongo cookin’ all week long. It’s a small place, probably used to be a fast food joint before it became Julia’s. We got two orders of full meat, fat and skin-on chicharones, two orders of mondongo, and a container full of arepas for $ 30. Which is great, since mondongo is such a commodity and hard to make. They don’t speak English on the phone, so have a translating friend order for you on the phone if you don’t want to wait around in the shop for your food. Too bad it’s literally across town; but when the craving for his childhood tripe soup comes, I’m sure my husband will make the drive across crazy 285.

Service was horrible, parking is non existant. Food was good. But 2÷3… idk if I will come back. Im all about good customer service and I did not get it here. I Felt that Because It Was just me I Wasn’t As Important As Bigger parties. But as far as the food goes it was ok. The empanadas were tasty. I ordered the arepa paisa the fries were cold and the arepa was not at all what I thought. Won’t be returning.

If you’re ever in the Lilburn area please come check out this quaint place next to a subway. I love this place and their gourmet Arepas. My favorites: 1. Arepa paisa 2. Arepa desmechada 3. Arepa de pollo Make sure to ask for their spicy sauce(aji) and their pink sauce as well. I just wish they would have a location closer to midtown or downtown.

Food is terrible and service worst. My family order«el almuerso de el dia» which was pasta with meat balls. The pasta was all cheesy, the rice had no salt, the meat balls had too much seasoning and the«remolacha» had no flavor. I do not recommend.

Best Colombian food in town! The Bandeja Paisa or Típico is the best I’d ever tried; flavor is very homey and size is humongous. OMG! The first time I ordered I almost faint! Huge, but I ate everything, including the super bowl of beans that comes with it. Empanadas are excellent and pan de bonos are delicious. I recommend the passion fruit, sour sup or blackberry juices, or the creole Gatorade/thirst quencher: «Agua ‘e Panela con Limon». Service is good too and place is always clean!!!

Not everyone knows about this place, but it’s the best colombian food near Atlanta. Bandeja Paisa, Ajiaco, Sancocho, Sobrebarriga, all great. Waitresses will make you feel like home. Try the frozen arepas to go.

Maybe if this were in Miami, I would give it 3 stars. I think I am leaning more towards 3.5, but since there are not too many Colombian restaurants around here, I will have to give them support by pushing this up to 4. Bf and I went not too long ago and both got the arepas con carne mechada(arepas with shredded beef). Pretty good with a nice serving of meat and cheese. We also ordered fried plantains(pronounce this to rhyme with mountains, please, as it should properly be said) and pandebonos. I am especially in love with pandebonos and found these little pockets of love made of yuca and cheese when I briefly took up residence in south FL. The ones from Las Arepas de Julia were good, don’t get me wrong, but since they are not flying out the door, these were not fresh and I am quite certain that they were nuked before coming to my table. Anyway, since I don’t have so many choices, I will be back. Maybe these arepas will grow on me some more? Stay tuned…

I’ve been hearing about this place for a long time and finally have a chance to sample the food! I ordered a pandenoro and arepa paisa. The pandenoro, a cheese bread is just ok, mainly because it wasn’t fresh out of oven. I would give it a 2 star. The arepa paisa(a puffy pastry made of corn meal, stuffed with plantains, avocado, beans, chicharron and beef) is out of this world! The ingredients gives it a great combination of flavor and texture. I especially like the slight cruchiness of chicharron. Sweetness from the plantain gives a surprisingly pleasent flavor. I heard the arepas chocolo is good too. I’ll have to try it next time. In short, it’s a great place for casual dining and good food at a great price.

Great Colombian food here… We had actually driven all the way out to Lilburn for some BBQ but the place I wanted to try **cough, cough** Tipsy Pig **cough cough**, was actually OUT of ribs and after we aited for 45 minutes for the owner to come back with more from the smoke house, we started looking for another place. Anyhow, we had the good fortune of driving by this place and it was totally worth it. I love Colombian food and so does the wife(she’s from there) and she swears this is the best Colombian place we have been to in the metro area… and I agree with her. We both had the had the bandeja paisa and if you aren’t familiar with Colombian food let me put it this way… if you can eat all of it, you’re a man, LOL. It’s a lot of food. The service was friendly although not quite as fast as we would have liked although maybe thats a good thing since it usually means they are cooking everything fresh. For dessert we had brevas(figs) with arequipe(sort of like a caramel pudding) and cheese… it was outstanding. I almost forgot… no matter what you eat, make sure you get some of their sausage. It’s hand made on premises and its damn good. If you are looking to try something different or if you’re Colombian and want a(really good) taste of home, you should definitely drive out to this place in Lilburn. it’s VERYGOOD.

When You’re Ready To Throw In The Towel But Instead You Get Punched In The Face By Pillowy Goodness That Gives You The Will To Go On. It’s not easy being Colombian. You’ve got the whole airport/customs harassment thing where your passport gets inspected a lot closer, your lack of luggage is considerably more suspect [why are you hating because I know how to travel light, yo?], and the little candies you brought back for your retired dad are inspected — and therefore no longer edible — on the possibility they might be cocaine chewables. Then there’s the necktie jokes. And the whole total strangers asking about the statistical likelihood of getting kidnapped thing. But for me, the hardest thing has been finding good arepas in the South. I have found good to very good representations of lots of other Colombians dishes and drinks, but prior to Arepas De Julia, I had not found the following: + + + mindblowing arepas de chocolo. These are the best I’ve ever had outside of Colombia. That’s right, in Lilburn. What the what? I like them better than The Arepa Lady and Caracas in New York. I developed an aversion to arepas de chocolo in the States because they never taste right and they’re always too charred and bitter. Not here. Arepas de chocolo are made of sweet corn and have gooey, stringy farmer’s cheese inside of them and the char is intentional and offsets the sweetness perfectly. They also sell frozen ones so you can reheat them at home. I bought them and they were still amazingly delicious. + + + stuffed arepas, of any variety. While areas in Colombia do this, mostly in the Northern Andes and on the coast, you generally have to hit Venezuelan restaurants to encounter stuffed arepas. Standout varieties include the arepa paisa [plantains, avocado, beans, chicharron and beef] and arepa desmechada [shredded beef]. + + + Chunchurria [beef tripe]. I got it in my arepa. While it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had and lacked a little in flavor, sometimes my cravings for deep fried intestines can ignore such shortcomings. It’s a bit of a hike for me, but it’s definitely worth the voyage. Cheaper than the airfare and less stressful than answering beady eyed customs officials. Solid 4 stars, rounded up to five because it even exists out here.
