Cole’s Backyard Grill

Ok. Well we came through lindale. Saw this place and wanted to try it. I got the ribs and 4 cheese macaroni and homemade chips, my wife got the catfish plate with fries hushpuppys, and we had deviled eggs. The deviled eggs were delicious and the catfish plate my wife got was really good, for mine I got to admit I think they Have really good BBQ sauce but the ribs were cooked right but just too small for the price. The mac and cheese was good but needed a little salt with it. The chips were perfect and good with ranch dressing. The only gripe is if you order home made lemonade make sure you ask if they check on you so you can get a refills… I just felt they could have checked on you more, tip after you eat…

I have to say traveling has its pros and cons, this restaurant was definitely a pro of my last trip, such friendly people as per the customers and workers alike. You can really tell that the locals have adopted this as a great place to spend your hard earned cash for a great meal. The salad bar was fantastic; such a pleasure to have someone create a perfect combination of flavors. My main course the Chicken fried steak was out of this world as well. The overall look of the restaurant let’s you know food and comfort take center stage, and it is super conducive to sharing a fine meal with all types of folks! Definitely hope I will be back sooner then later. Kudos to the management on this establishment!

Probably the worst place to eat in Lindale. They made nachos out of lays chips and all the staff seemed to hate life and everyone that walked through the door. I probably could’ve gone to the alley behind the resturant and got better service. The ONLY reason i gave them one star is because the burger i ordered was actually pretty good.

What a joke. This place is awful. Burned my kids food. Second time here and it still was bad after the name change. Beautiful place. It’s a shame they have such lousy food.

Tried this place today and it was great. The salad was delicious even though they make it but you tell them what all you want. The chicken fried steak was delicious. I am having left overs for lunch tomorrow. My husbands burger was dry but said it was ok. I would definitely go back. The atmosphere was very nice.

The atmosphere was good, and it was like I was expecting in that way. The part that makes me only put two stars is the food. It was way to spicy. Some food items that you would not expect to be spicy like chicken tenders and Italian dressing were too spicy to eat. The macaroni and cheese were also too salty to eat. It felt like biting into a salt block.

Terrible! Tried it when they were Bo’s and wasn’t happy over cooked steaks etc. and today my mom and I ordered burgers and BOTH were burnt. I’m sorry but if you’re a neighborhood grill and can’t get a burger right then something’s seriously wrong! Will not be returning.

First time here. They say it’s the 2^nd best chicken fried steak in Texas, which might be true, but I haven’t found any better. This thing was huge. Very attractive décor.

The only non-​chain in town, I decided to give this one a whirl even with the so-​so reviews. I was disappointed even with low expectations. The high school girls at the order register seemed miserable, as did all of the staff. I ordered brisket, because I love smoked brisket… I wish I hadn’t. The vibe in the restaurant is off kilter. Bluesy music plays, a concrete floor has modern vibe, the tables say BBQ joint, the circle of living room chairs in the middle says surround a fireplace says college coffee shop, the «bar» says afterthought, and the light fixtures and color scheme says «we’re high end.» There were customers, but it was like a funeral after party, quiet whispers of mildly satisfied patrons hunched over their marginal plates of food.
First you get in the salad line, where a depressed teenager mindlessly dumps ingredients into your salad bowl with all the enthusiasm of the night shift Subway janitor. The salad is small, I had less than 10 (yes I counted) spinach leaves in my bowl. The other toppings are a hodgepodge but seem good quality.
Waiting for the «main event» I was watching plates of «half rack ribs» coming out of the kitchen. Let me say that at the price they charge, I would have hit the roof when 5 ribs came out looking anorexic and drowned in sauce. I’m no farmer (yes I am) but the last time I checked a pig isn’t 12 inches long. Call it what it is… that’s a serving, not a half rack. I digress. When my «smoked brisket» arrived I cringed. It was slathered in sauce. Lukewarm, as salty as licking the rim of a margarita glass, dry, and smokeless. The baked potato, crusted in sea salt, was an average potato. The Texas Toast, soggy and salty. Long story short, I didn’t even try to finish.
When the manager came by and ask how everything was I politely said «very salty.» Her reply was priceless…“Well it must have been a batch that got over salted then.” Laughing and walking away. No thanks, no so sorry, no let me get something else for you. Sad. Below average. Save your money.
In short, this restaurant looks like someone’s dream. Disjointed and confused. Paper towels on the tables, chandeliers in the corners, old six packs holding arrays of sauce, squealing guitar music, baby blue walls, and a luxury salad bar. My suggestion would be get a consultant in here stat. Pick a lane and drive. They have the chance to corner home grown food in an area overcrowded with chains, but this dream won’t last long without some serious recalibration. Thumbs down, let me know if I can do some consulting for you. Dang it, I am hungry.
P. S. — The only thing saving a 1 star rating is the fact that it is clean here.

I had my reservations about the restaurant when I pulled in. Right on the interstate and kinda looked like a chain restaurant. But the staff was super friendly and I ordered the chicken fried steak. Wow! Very good and more than I could eat!

Do yourself a favor and give this place one visit and I assure you you’ll be back! Cheddar burger, amazing, chicken fried steak, even more so!

Excellent Service!!! The food was amazing. I was met at the door with a smile and nice atmosphere. My steak was cooked perfect. I liked the way my salad was prepared. We will definitely be back.

Terrible. The appetizers when they first opened were great but nothing I’ve had since has been anywhere close. Worst steak I’ve had in years.

The food was good. I had the brisket cheese steak sandwich and mac n cheese. I liked the atmosphere of this place. I will consider going back in the future.

The place looked cool and the employees were really friendly but that’s about it. They told me the burgers were outstanding but mine was just out of flavor, pretty bland tasting. My wife couldn’t eat the chicken on her grilled chicken salad for being too overcooked and bland. Guess they haven’t discovered spices yet or even salt & pepper. Would have had better at Burger King.

Stay away from here. The only thing that was good was the side salad. And, I guess, my glass of water.

small portions with normal prices. Definitely won’t be back. Ribs are tiny and just a few, not very good er ither. Beer can chicken was a single small breast, sitting in liquids and somehow still managed to be dry.

First off don’t like to stand in line to order our food. We asked for menus sat in booth to look it over since it was our first time there. Don’t charge 17.50 for a tuff grainy SAMs club steaks. 11.00 for a small chicken fried chicken was that a child’s portion. Heard nothing but bad reviews from locals when it was Bo. As for owner don’t sit and Eye ball customers.

New name same management. Service excellent. Food very good. They have impressive salad bar, very good chicken fried steak. I had blue cheese burger and it was very good.
