Big Blue’s Italian Style Sub Shop

this is right across the street, so i visit this place a lot. their burgers are great, get one with cheese and fried onions. their subs are top notch, and the selection is actually too big. their onion rings are homemade and five star. great sides and super big homemade dills for a buck. (i’m a big fan of their potato salad, which is kinda german salady. i suspect it’s not made in house, but i never leave without it. oh yea – their soups are amazing – but they run out a lot, so order it early in the day.
the only oddity is the italian hot dog. the star ledger named it one of the best in the state, but i wasn”t impressed. too many potatoes, and greasy. other than that, i highly recommend the place.

From the phone call when placing the order all the way to the time I pay, these gentleman are polite, professional, and quick! The sandwiches are delicious. The prices are low. If you are ever in the area do yourself a favor and stop in. For breakfast my favorite is the sausage egg cheese and potatoes. The deli cuts are premium and the cheesesteaks and hot sandwiches are delicious as well. You won’t regret eating here. Ever! Been here over a dozen times, have never been disappointed!

Best sub place in the area. Even when my sister visits from Indiana, she has to stop at Blues! My family of 4 loves to order two subs and pack them for picnic lunches at the zoo or other outings. They’re big enough to share and very filling. One sub is always tuna– it tastes very fresh, not like it’s been sitting out for days, and they definitely don’t skimp on the portions. The second sub varies, but my husband is a big fan of the Big Blue. We have been coming for years and have never had a bad sub yet. They do get crowded due to commuters at the train station, but service is quick and efficient. You can call in and order your sub and it’ll be ready when you get there. The inside looks very old and «could use an updating» but honestly, I think the dated interior adds to its character. This is a little hole in the wall that’s been there forever that makes a damn good sub. A local favorite.

Ordered a taylor ham, egg, and cheese on a roll from here. Didn’t take long so that’s good. It was delicious! It hit the spot. Filling since they give you a big portion! French fries are good here too!

Unbelievably good Italian Hot Dog. I had a single and it must have weighed about 5 lbs. Perfect amount of vegatables to make the sandwich moist. Potatoes were perfectly cooked. When I was there, they were constantly busy with take out orders. Hotdoglover is right — how did this place fly under the radar for us hot doggers for so long.
