Hoyts West Nursery Cinemas

This place use to be great. A hidden gem. Today this place just seems poorly managed with an all high school staff who doesn’t seem to quite care. I took my girlfriend to see ride along 2, but the environment was so crowded which is understandable since it was the night the movie opened. However, during the movie there was many people talking and being obnoxious, but the ushers didn’t seem to feel it was part of their job to address this issue. I’ll continue to go to AMC Columbia as this theater is not what it used to be, or even could be. Sad.

This is a nice theater. It is conveniently located in the BWI airport area where hotels and restaurants around. To save, see a matinée.

This place needs to be closed down and reopened as a museum.
Old school … no remodeling has taken place.
The screens were fine… nothing horrible really but def not a fun movie experience.
Old school seating… no recliners, no sofas, no leather.
I guess this place is ok because there are no lines… and this is prob the place to go when movies first come out…

I went to Hoyts West Nursery Cinemas last weekend to see the movie Woodlawn. I purchased a Groupon a few months ago and it was getting ready to expire so I had to use it. My Groupon included a movie ticket, large popcorn, and large drink. Perfect date night for my single self. There weren’t any movies playing that I really cared to see, except Woodlawn even though it has been out in theaters for a while now.
I would definitely recommend this theater for people who want to avoid the hustle and bustle of Arundel Mills. You can easily find a parking spot. The theater is pretty clean but a little old and outdate. The popcorn was hot and fresh. Since my Groupon came with a large popcorn, I asked the young lady at the concession stand if I could have a medium instead. I knew I wasn’t going to eat all of that popcorn to myself. She explained to me that she had to follow the terms of the Groupon and had to give me a large popcorn but she can fill it halfway if I’d like. Works for me! The theater itself wasn’t crowded at all and I was able to find a seat right smack in the middle without really having anyone else sitting directly near me. I assume this is because of the movie I went to see and due to the fact that it’s been out for some time, the «buzz» has worn off. The seats in the theater were outdated, not the comfortable reclining seats that you get in movie theaters these days. However, I would definitely go here again. This theater is okay in my book, nothing to rave about.
If you’re looking to do a «dinner and movie» type of thing, there are a few chain restaurants nearby, such as Cracker Barrel, Ruby Tuesday’s, and Chili’s. You can also venture a little further and go to G&M (hello crabcake!).

Went to Hoyts West Nursery Cinema tonight for the first time. Bought tickets to see «The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2.» There is definitely something wrong with the projector or the lighting in the theater where I saw the movie. The whole movie was too dark and it seemed like as the movie went on, it got darker and darker to the point that it was hard to make out what was happening on screen. The color was also off and seemed to get worse and worse as the film went on. I mean, «The Hunger Games» does have dark & gloomy cinematography, but not this dark and colorless!
I definitely would not go back to this theater. Someone from the theater should have been watching what was happening on screen and making adjustments to the projector or lighting or whatever needed to be done.
I’m giving this theater two stars because it was clean and the seats were comfortable, but based on the poor quality of what I saw projected on the screen, it probably should get one star.

The Hoyt’s Movie Theater is a very nice place to go for entertainment. My daughter and I visited this location today. The movie we saw was «The Maze Runner» for $ 17.50. 1 order of chicken tenders with fries, medium soda, bottle of water and large popcorn for $ 24.50…a total of $ 42.00…which is not too bad. Arundel Mills and Columbia Theater’s would have cost a lot more. The movie screen was nice and clear, comfortable stadium seats which didn’t recline or rock and bathroom neat and clean.
Pros: hot chicken tenders, fries and popcorn, movie tickets was reasonable, clean bathroom, parking free and spacious.
Cons: stadium seats doesn’t recline or rock.

Now this is what I would call a hidden gem.
I actually have to thank my sister for letting me know about Hoyts. I usually don’t go see movies when they first get released and if I do I will go super early to avoid the crowds. None of that is even needed for this little spot. I guess since its off the beaten path no one remembers its even there. I know that was the case for me. I went to see Southpaw last month there on opening weekend. There was literally plenty of parking right in front of the theater. When I got inside there was no line at the ticket counter. I didn’t know what to do with myself since I ate before I came I didn’t need to hit the concession stand.
Prices are a little cheaper here than at AMC or Regal which was a nice little surprise. I was surprised that inside the theater it wasn’t crowded at all. The temp was moderate. I am usually prepared for freezing temperatures but that was not the case here. Over all its nice. It dimly li and you can tell its a older place but all in all I am a fan and I will be back many more times in the future.

Bottom Line: Stadium seating, reasonable ticket prices and ample parking.
Hoyt’s Nursery Road is my preferred theater in Anne Arundel County due to the low key nature of it. Being that it is not attached to a mall or shopping center, the crowds here are relatively slim. I like that I can arrive minutes before the showtime and still have time to wait in the relatively non-​existent lines for tickets and snacks. I also like that matinees are only $ 8.50 and the theaters have stadium seating. The staff is friendly and the theater seems clean, at least it appears that way although it is quite dark in there.
Some would say that the downside to this theater that it is NOT attached to a mall or shopping center. However, I find this keeps the crowds down and the rowdy movie-​goers to a minimum. Even though there isn’t a bunch of restaurants in the same parking lot as the theater you can still find some decent eats nearby with G&M and Urban BBQ being my favorites.

I come here all the time. It’s closer to me than Arundel Mills and Annapolis and cheaper as well. If you come during the week, there is hardly anyone else in theater. Therefore you can sit wherever you want. Good popcorn and nachos also. My go to movie theatre.

I’ve been to this theater a couple times to see movies and I’ve had good experiences. Hoyt’s West Nursery doesn’t really set itself apart from other movie theaters, but I enjoy going there.
Like all movie theaters I have been to, I would go during the day. $ 10 – 12 seems pretty pricey to go see a movie.

Nice theater always clean. This is a theater that is never overly busy so it’s good to get in and get out. I’ve been going here since I was a kid. I’d definitely recommend it.

is a little pricey but most movies are! Staff are very friendly. Plenty of room and comfortable seats. Good place to take the kids. Parking is a little tough.

This is a great cinema to take your family to. Always get great service and most importantly no major interruptions during your viewing.

I will say the fact that they offer military discounts is a plus because they are starting to become a rarity these days in many businesses.
Hoyts is a good theater to go to avoid the crowd. It is not on the level of Egyptian, Ipic, or Regal but it makes up for that in the fact you can easily get a seat for many movies even on opening night.
If you select a horrible movie sometime the patrons will provide entertainment. I went with a friend and we were just amused at the fact the couple behind us fell asleep and were knocked out for the entire showing of The Loft.
The seats do not recline in anyway but after leaving the movie you have a pick of restaurants to grab a quick snack at in the Linthicum area.
If you have time it is a definate to go checkout a movie alone or with friends and family.

This movie theater must make you feel all comfortable (in my Martin Lawrence voice) people were in here asleep like they had a dose of benadryl. Long line to purchase tickets due to one ticket window operating. There is a single kiosk to electronically purchase your tickets also. Prices here were somewhat cheaper than Regal & they offer matinée specials.

The go to theatre to avoid the Arundel Mills crowd. They show the movies you want to see and sometimes they surprise me by showing an independent film that one wouldn’t expect to come to little Lithicum. Seating is stadium and the concession is standard.

Went here last night with a girlfriend to see addicted. I’ve been to this location twice before but was reminded by my trainer (Dragon Gate Fitness) that this is yet another good theatre to go to where there are plenty of seats, is clean and no teenagers frequent.
I was pleasantly surprised that there were no crowds. I got a decent parking space. We got great seats, no teenagers and the snacks were a decent price (for a movie theatre).
I will definitely come here again.

Hoyts West Nursery Cinemas have a great location on Nursery Road just off the BW Parkway. The theaters are all stadium and the sound system is top-​notch, so you can expect everything you get at any googleplex theater attached to a mall, except for the added premium pricing and the aggravation of mall traffic. There are several restaurants located right across the street, so dinner and a movie is always an option. If you have to catch a summer blockbuster, this is the place to do it.

I love this theater, it’s located right off of W. Nursery Rd., pretty easy to see from the road. Parking has never been a problem for me, as there is a huge lot.
It’s conveniently located close to me (I can catch the matinée right after work, woohoo) and it’s hardly ever crowded. The theaters are always clean; no sticky floors, no food left behind etc.
The seats are comfy and recline just enough.
The staff are nice, I’ll continue to go back.
