Mamie’s Kitchen is a first-rate little restaurant with outstanding home-cooked food. «We’ve never met a stranger» hospitality and friendly service all down the line. Breakfast was perfect, from freshly-prepared eggs, sausage and cheese grits on through to real home-baked biscuits. Lunch also amazing with country-fried steak, chicken and dressing and great fried chicken, plus Southern-style green beans, collards, creamed corn and mashed potatoes and gravy. Did I mention peach cobbler? Big Daddy from Nashville

My first Unilocal review to a place that deserves all 5 stars! I found Mamie’s kitchen on Unilocal as we were passing through. We were not disappointed. Fresh fried chicken, grits, amazing biscuits, mashed potatoes and green beans with peach cobbler to top it off! Everyone was so friendly!!! We will definitely stop back through. Good job!

Great place for breakfast! Everything is yummy and everyone is friendly on any given day! My husband says the pancakes are better than cracker barrel. I always order the cheese grits, sausage & biscuit. Everything’s hot & fresh!

You don’t know chicken biscuits until you’ve had Mamies chicken and cheese biscuit! The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. The steak and gravy biscuits are pretty good too.

I’m a big foodie and I’m really picky on good food. This hole in the wall exceeded my expectations. I was looking for a good breakfast and that’s what I got here. I got the ham biscuit and my boyfriend got the chicken biscuit with cheese. They were both super good. The biscuits are homemade and extra soft and fluffy. The prices are inexpensive and you get a lot of food. We both left full. The peach cobbler was surprisingly good also. I’m really big on customer service and the customer service was phenomenal. I will definitely be back.

Never in life… I stopped one morning, and the owner had to bring me my food. He stated, «You would order some s… like that, and its’ raining». Customer service is horrible. Beware!!!

I get the same thing almost every time. The fried chicken biscuit. It’s huge and every bite is delicious! I accidentally got it with sawmill gravy once and it tasted like a scrumptious heart attack. Honorable mentions: cheesy grits, country ham biscuit

This place use to be better! It sucks now! You are better off driving a little further to the one in Covington. This mammies claim they can’t cook bacon extra crispy bc they cook it to order!?! I told them that’s funny because I can cook bacon to order extra crispy. Guess the 20 $-30 $ I spend each visit on biscuits isn’t worth their time anymore. They also know I drive 30 minutes there and 30 min back! Biggest waste of time! Laziness is not a good business model! And the saddest part it was the owner who told me all this! It’s such a shame because the other mammies on 278 in Covington is awesome but this one sucks! It’s no wonder why no one was there when I pulled up! I’ll never be back!

Called ahead, placed order, arrived and no one knew of any order. The cashiers excuse was that he didn’t place it because he wanted my meal to be as fresh as possible. Smh. Besides the crappy service the food was even CRAPPIER. Like really gross. Scrambled eggs were not scrambled, salmon patties were gross, «famous biscuits» tasted weird. I wouldn’t recommend this place. These reviews aren’t accurate.

Soooo… I was starving & I decided to come here again! I saw more good reviews after my bad experience &(like I said before) figured that maybe I just went too early. I decided to order something different & more simple… A bacon, egg & cheese biscuit. & I arrived around 10am. :(it was plain. I’m not gonna say nasty but I had way more biscuit than anything else. They sprinkled a little cheddar cheese on it. Just ridiculous. Idk what everyone else is being served but the food & service just isn’t good.(I walked in this time too)! Smh. No more reviews from me, I won’t be returning.

This place is GOOD! It’s a little hole in the wall but the food was filling and GOOD! The ladies behind the register know their regular customers and greet people by name and are just nice. She gave me suggestions and knew I wasn’t from there. Lol I might be back depending on how much time I have.

While spending several days in the Atlanta area, my husband and I broke our«house» rule of eating somewhere different each day while traveling; Mamie’s Kitchen Biscuits in Lithonia Ga. made us do it. If you are looking for hospitality, great food at a super value, this is your place. The biscuits are mouth watering and the grits just right. If you want to go big get the country ham, egg and hash brown plate. Biscuits are made right before your eyes. I have never seen employees work so hard to make the customers happy. Be prepared, the lines inside and out can be long but they move fast. Nothing fast food about this place except for the service. You can’t go wrong with this choice. A sign hangs in the dining rio that says«It ain’t healthy, but it sure is good. We agree and it is worth the risk; delicious southern food at it’s best.

It is important to realize that this is more of a cafeteria then a restaurant. You go in, wait in line to order from a steam table and then seat yourself with your tray of food. That being said, my egg & sausage biscuit was delicious. I should’ve got 2! I’ll definitely stop back in for a quick breakfast when over by the Stone Crest mall again.

We visited Mamie’s around noon on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and what struck me immediately was the long line in the drive-thru. That was certainly a good sign for this«no-frills» restaurant. The place is small, with about 10 tables and a little counter up front where we placed our orders. The red and white tablecloths reminded me of a picnic while the food was reminiscent of diner fare. Good diner fare. I split the pancakes, which came in an order of 3, and the chicken breakfast. The chicken breakfast came with a biscuit, a fried chicken breast, eggs, and grits. Others at the table opted for the popular salmon cakes, hotlinks, french toast, and breakfast sandwiches. We also tried the peach cobbler, which had slightly under-cooked crust that had more of a biscuit consistency, peaches, and cinnamon. It was just ok. The breakfast food was seasoned well and cooked well. And the prices are very reasonable. This is the kind of place where you can take the industrial size bottle of syrup to your table until another table needs it. It’s the kind of place where someone walks around and asks«anything else you need, sweetie»? It’s the kind of place that you bring your family to and enjoy casual food. So, If you’re in to innovative food and fancy breakfast spots, this isn’t the place for you. But, if you’re looking for good, Southern food between the early morning hours until 2pm Monday through Saturday, then stop by Mamie’s to either dine-in or pick up a bite to eat. They serve breakfast all day and they have daily lunch specials.

Simple, basic, country breakfast served cafeteria style. This place is a favorite for folks who are rushing to work. Don’t expect crapes, omelets or eggs Benedict. Breakfast salmon, chicken breast, and a variety of pork meats served with grits and scrabbled egg(regular or with cheese), and your choice of biscuits or toast. This is a great spot for folks on the go or if you just don’t feel like cooking.

I’, so glad to have been able to stop in and experience this magical place. Pure soul food. Tons of breakfast options, and the lunch looked great as well. A must see for soul food lovers. I got a country ham biscuit, and an order of biscuits and gravy with sausage on the side. so good. It was technically lunch time, but I was dead set on some biscuits. However, seeing everyone order meatloaf made me wish I had some of that as well. I will definitely come back if I am ever in the area again. Stupid inexpensive too.

I came with a friend who used to live in the area. She had had a bad experience and the owners reached out to her to try it again. When we drove up, the drive through line was out into Evans Mill road and causing traffic. I knew that the breakfast had to be good. It’s a small establishment with approximately 10 tables. Everyone was devouring their breakfast and the plates were a pretty good sized portion. We tried a chicken biscuit, the breakfast combo and the peach cobbler. The biscuit was fluffy and the chicken was fried to perfection. They are actually better than chik-fil-a– and cheaper. The breakfast comes with grits or eggs, with or without cheese and a meat. The bacon was crispy and the sausage links were smoked soooooo well. The prices are awesome in todays economy. $ 10 will get you a lot of food and it’s home cooked. I would suggest calling ahead and placing your order. Needless to say, I’m in love. The crowd is diverse and you can tell that the family takes pride in what they do. Alan, the owners’ grandson, checked on the patrons and made sure that everyone had an amazing experience. Mamie’s is a staple in this community and my friends and I are planning to come back soon!

I was contacted by one of the owners Tammy after my initial review. From our conversation I realized that Mamie’s takes pride in their quality and service. Although they have been a staple in the Lithonia area for more than 40 years they want each and every customer, new and old, to enjoy their meal and become a member of the family. I revisited Mamie’s this time with a friend and was greeted by one of the managers Alan. We were quickly seated and presented with a full breakfast… Pancakes, Biscuits, Cheese Eggs and Grits, Smoked Sausage, Bacon, Chicken, and a side of their infamous Peach Cobbler. When I tell you this meal was probably the best thing since sliced bread! I couldn’t even get through ¼ of the meal. Everything was fresh, the portions were large, and tasty. The way Alan interacted with us and every other customer was remarkable. The place was super packed including the drive thru but the tables were quickly cleaned and customers were served promptly. This is a family owned business, Alan mentioned to me that his grandfather founded Mamie’s and they have a location also in Covington and Conyers. Every customer that left had a full stomach and wide smile. I know I did. This goes to show that everyone makes mistakes, owning it and learning from them is key. I will definitely be back. If you’re in the Lithonia area M-Sat from 5am to 2pm please stop into Mamie’s, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been to Mamie’s quite a few times, I’m the Duke for Gods sake so I think I finally feel comfortable enough to write a review. My first couple of trips here were not the best but I think I have to blame it on myself. I didn’t really understand how to order and how things work in this place. I think the first time I came, I ordered a piece of chicken and a biscuit… #nobueno. I couldn’t grasp what the hype was about. The next time I went in with friends and family and this cool guy that worked there explained that we should order a meat and a side(eggs, grits or gravy and a biscuit). My favorite thing to order now is pancakes with chicken and cheesy eggs. The pancakes are always warm and fluffy and the chicken, mmmm mmm mm delicious! To me, it’s better than chicken and waffles. I’ve had the biscuits and gravy before(picture uploaded) but there was just too much gravy and I’m not a big fan of the gravy. It lacked flavor, even though it was caked on. The peach cobbler here is really good. It’s a little buttery but its still tasty and definitely tastes homemade. On the weekends this place gets really packed with a long line so I definitely suggest calling in your order. I tried it this past weekend and it was great. I got to the spot and he line was almost out the door. I walked in and the lady came out and told me to go to the front of the line to pay for my food. I felt like VIP! Overall this place is really good. It gives you the old fashioned, hole on the wall vibe and you know those are sometimes the spots where you get the best food. I love taking out of towners there for breakfast because I know they’ll get the full southern experience.
